I stopped at 13 syns. My gran (who brought me up) has had a diagnosis of dementia. Follows on from other health issues she's been suffering with. I'm worried for the future. Thanks for your kindness, losers xx

LavenderRains · 20/01/2017 23:00

groovester Flowers my best friend is going through this with her mum right now. It's tough and so so sad. (((Hugs)))

BasinHaircut · 21/01/2017 07:39

Groovester we went through this with my gran, it's tough but between you and your wider family you will cope. Find out what care she is entitled to and use it Flowers

FaithAgain · 21/01/2017 08:28

Groovester both my Grandma's had Dementia. IME it's far better to know that to have it without the diagnosis. But this morning, grab yourself a Brew. Coming in under your syns in the circumstances in very disciplined!

I was very pleased with myself last night. I got in from work (about 8.45) tired and hungry...I so I made an omelette! Found speed food choices in freezer (had mushrooms and peppers frozen) and then just added new potatoes and then cheese to the top. Had half a curly Wurly to stay within my syns (just!). Was tempted to have carbs like a toastie so I'm glad I made a sensible choice. I need to change what food I'm taking to work though - still adjusting to different hours at work.

alibongo5 · 21/01/2017 09:39

Groovster - so sorry to hear that, it's a horrible thing to have to face.

Well done for making the right choice faith.

Went out for a meal last night. On the plus side I resisted a starter and a pud (usually I'd have definitely had the starter).

It was a lovely Italian restaurant and so many completely gorgeous and high-syn options. I have no idea what the best thing to choose would have been - possibly pasta in a tomato based sauce but I wanted to choose something that was not too bad but also what I fancied too. So I went for lamb steak topped with mushrooms, bacon in garlicky tomato sauce served with veg and potatoes. It was gorgeous but cooked in loads of butter. So probably about a trillion syns! Had quite a lot of red wine too. But hey, it's why I saved my syns from earlier in the week!

No idea what I'm eating today but so far I don't feel hungry!

BasinHaircut · 21/01/2017 09:49

Fair play ali, you've got to have a little bit of what you fancy otherwise you won't stick it out in the long term.

Got a delicious day of food planned today, started off with banana, strawberries and 4 syns worth of full fat Greek yoghurt with honey. Now I'm off out into the garden to clear up all of the leaves that I've been meaning to do since before Xmas! Blush

SpaghettiMeatballs · 21/01/2017 10:58

What can I buy in M&S that is really nice but low syn.

I really want to feel like I've had a treat tonight!

Groovee · 21/01/2017 12:04

Chicken forestiers is free on SW from the count on us range.

TheImprobableGirl · 21/01/2017 12:11

Well done losers GrinGrin
I'm going to group on Monday, lost 3.5lbs on my own Monday-Friday which is a surprise, but shows that my motivation is there! Going to the races tomorrow which will be good.
Have started a fair bit of yoga and exercise DVDs which is showing a great increase in flexibility and fitness. Looking forward to starting Grin

BasinHaircut · 21/01/2017 13:24

Lunch here was spaghetti with a tomato sauce, spinach and feta for HEXA.

Groovster 💐💐💐dementia is such an awful illness.

Spaghetti, the Gastropub seafood stew/casserole is free, and absolutely divine.

You need to all help me. I've just got the date of my hysterectomy and it's in 27 days. I am not mentally prepared for it! I thought it would be April. All I want to do is comfort eat. I've had 11 syns so far, and those were before I received the letter (my Mam forcefed me cake)

Groovee · 21/01/2017 15:38

Oh Lemony hugs. I would draw a line under the syns and start again xx

alibongo5 · 21/01/2017 15:51

Sometimes I think you've just got to accept that life gets in the way of dieting. I was like that when a family member died before Christmas. There is no point pretending that you are mentally prepared to be strong at such times. So don't be hard on yourself and just see how things go and how you feel tomorrow.

TheImprobableGirl · 21/01/2017 16:41

It's very hard to carry on dieting when all you want to do is wallow in cake, but remember eating good nutritious food keeps your mind in the game and allows you to be the best you can be physically and mentally. It is important to remember that you will feel much better when eating better things.

Remember Miss Moss (I think) nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!

Frouby · 21/01/2017 17:48

Oh Lemony hugs lovely. I don't think we are ever ready for something like that no matter how near or far away it is. But you have worked so hard to lose all the weight to get the operation and it will feel easier once it is done. It must feel like it's hanging over you and I presume medical reasons for having it done.

Be kind to yourself today but put a line under it and start again tomorrow. And this time next month you will be recovering well and ready to carry on getting to target.

I have felt crap all day. Really bad period pains. Went to hairdressers for a few hours without eating and felt rubbish when I came home. Ate a bag of crisps and 2 stollen bites ffs.

And dp went shopping for tea and bought chicken en croute things from m and s. He got veg and potatoes at least. So will be an off plan day today. But the way I feel I am ok with it. Sometimes you just have to do your best.

Back on it tomorrow.

ALemonyPea · 21/01/2017 19:12

Thank you everyone.

I've not had any more synned foods. DH made me salmon, noodles and stir fried veg, it was lovely and I'm now stuffed and satisfied.

Hope you're feeling better Frouby 💐

Has anyone tried those new mcvities thin biscuits. Meant to be only 1.5 syns each and they have chocolate digestives in the mix. Really want to buy some.

Groovester · 21/01/2017 19:12

Once again, thank you for all of the support and kindness, ladies.
It's vascular dementia. She has slow progressing heart failure and as a result, there's not enough oxygen going to her brain. She's coping admirably and understands the diagnosis. She's asked for puzzle books and has started reading again to keep her mind active. Bless her.
Anyway, a day on plan here:

B - Melon
L - Tuna pasta salad made with fat free Greek yogurt. (All free but I know my portion was too big!)
D - Mayflower chicken curry (with onions, mushrooms and peas) and rice.

Will have 2 hifis later and possibly a yogurt or I've been eyeing up a Cadbury fudge in the kids' sweetie tin. It may well disappear tonight.
So I'm in plan but eating a lot. Does that make any sense?

Hugs to you Lemony. It will be a daunting prospect but think of how things will be afterwards once you've recovered.
And Frouby, period pains are horrendous. Be kind to yourself.

BasinHaircut · 21/01/2017 21:12

Evening all.

Good day here today.

Dinner was 5% mince burgers, one in a whole meal roll (HEXB), with carrot and sweet potato chips. About 5 syns worth of sauce and about 2 syns worth of oil which means a total of 11 syns for the day. Might have a small glass of milk later.

Burgers were a bit dry but OK.

May have a Freddo later and end on 11 1/2 syns

alemonypea - at least the op will be out of the way earlier and you won't have it hanging over you. 🌸 it will be over before you know it.

summerblonde · 21/01/2017 21:48

I've just eaten the rest of my syns in Mikado.Waiting for my period to start seems like it been about to start all week. I feel I lethargic, tired and my boobs are so sore. All I want to do is eat cheese on toast or a packet of crisps. Really need to go to bed and avoid temptation. 😩

Groovester · 21/01/2017 22:51

Decided on an evening snack of a yoghurt and some grapes. Didn't fancy any though no afterwards so no syns or hex b today. A wee drop skimmed milk in a few cuppas for hex a.

Making this for dinner tomorrow. Will serve with salad. Looks tasty!

OwlinaTree · 21/01/2017 22:58

Lots of news here, hope you are OK frouby, did you enjoy the chicken? Sorry to hear your news groovster, thinking of you. lemony, I'm guessing you have been waiting for this op, hope you can get your head round it all soon.

Had a good day here, the baby is playing up a bit with her sleep so me and my dh are a bit tired. He really wanted a takeaway, but we settled on homemade chilli from the freezer, sw chips and cheese. Felt like a real treat! He said afterwards that it hit the comfort food spot, so mission accomplished.

Managed some decluttering tasks today to, so it's all good.

SpaghettiMeatballs · 22/01/2017 07:48

grovee I'm sorry, that sounds really tough.

alemony would it help to think that with it being brought forward you'll be recovered by spring and ready to look forward to summer.... a summer where you'll be free from your medical problems and one where you'll be able to enjoy wearing small, light summer clothes like shorts after losing so much weight.

Do you have s holiday booked? Perhaps something amazing to look forward to that you can read up on during your recovery might help?

Bad day yesterday.... I went to Marks and got a couple of the free ready meals you kindly recommended as I've got some long days at work coming up this week. I also got the 'guilt free snacking chocolate popcorn' at 6 syns. It was nice. Not as great as I was hoping though.

I had 1.5 syns on salad dressing and chutney in my lunchtime sandwich.

I then had a Freddo with a cup of tea in the evening. The problem with that was I'd entirely forgotten the 5 mini eggs I had with s cup of in the afternoon! The DCs were playing together upstairs which never happens so I treated myself to an hour with a book. Totally forgot about them so 17.5 syns in total. Blush

We did go for a decent walk later in the afternoon and I'm out all day and walking all day today. Planning on eggs on toast before I go and then I'm taking a salad for lunch as luckily there's an indoor picnic area.

I'll end up saving money today as usually the DCs and I have lunch out unless the weather is very good and we can picnic outside.
