Hello! Im new. I started SW alongside my mum, who goes to weigh ins etc. I cant get to a class as I have 3 kids :( she has given me her slimming world online password so I can access the online tools, which are so helpful!
Im on day 3 today, and I have an awful headache... did anyone else experience this? did it go away?

Yes broken I had a stinking headache for nearly a week when I started SW. It was the sugar withdrawal and caffeine withdrawal I think. I used to eat LOADS of sugar Blush . Try to drink as much water as possible and it will pass. Good luck on your weight loss journey, I'm 11 weeks in and 1.9st lighter.

Flowers Positive

Yay Lemony, glad you like the teacakes!

Well...last night's meal out was definitely NOT on plan! Three courses, plus it's the sort of place where they give you loads of extra little nibbles before your meal too...I don't even want to estimate how many calories the whole lot was! Lowering syns to 5 a day until weigh in on Tues, and will drink soooooo much water today - think my salt intake was pretty high last night, so will help!

Today's plan:

B - none. I still feel bloated...
L - tuna and mixed bean salad
D - Moroccan chicken tagine with preserved lemons, couscous with coriander and lemon, and my carrot salad - which I need to work out the syns for, as it has dried fruit and fruit syrup (instead of honey) in it.

Skinny latte HexA, not sure about the HexB. Maybe the dried fruit. We'll see...

Hello all!

First weigh in this morning, and have lost 6lbs. Am happy with that as have had three meals out this week, none of which were on plan. Grin Think my saving grace was being back in work and hardly having the time to eat Thurs/Fri.

So a great start, I'm happy. Couldn't stay to meeting unfortunately due to childcare issues so hoping I didn't miss too much. Did overhear three members getting to target whilst waiting to be weighed so that was nice. Smile

Food Plan for the day:
Brunch - SW Cooked Breakfast
Tea- leftover chilli, jacket potato, Mexicana cheese as a HexA
Syns - am off to the cinema later, so will take something with me, French fries or hula hoop puffs.

Food order arrives later so I shall plan for the week. My girls are back at school on Monday so our routine will change a little again, will just have to see how I go.

Love that this thread is so active. Smile

Hello again, I started last Tues & have been doing v well whilst at home and cooking for myself, fine at work but have had 2 meals out so far and am out again tonight. Consequently I have bust my syns nearly every day so far.

Have tried to choose wisely, had chicken shashlik & boiled rice at the curry house but did also have a poppadom, a spoon of someone's tarka dhal and a spoon of someone's cauli bhaji.

Then yesterday went to Jamie's Italian and again, tried to choose wisely & had the salmon superfoods salad. Counted the ricotta as HexA and added 7 syns as a guess to anything else not free in it.

Today is fish n chips. Not ideal I know. Will skip the booze & have only about 1/4 of the batter.

After today, I'll eat at home and behave! DH did suggest going for pizza for Sunday lunch but got glared at for that.

One thing I know I am doing wrong is not eating my HexA & Bs every day. Seems I need to make a conscious effort to do so.

On the plus side, my home scales are showing a slight drop!

Thanks for all the good wishes for Dgrandson. Yesterday he was improving, so just taking one day at a time.

Well done Joey and other losers! And for those who have not lost, keep going and you will hopefully see it next week.

I was shocked that the lady had the nerve to say that negative comment at your group, Lemony. Our consultant always says not to say "oh, that is a lucky loss, I have no idea how It happened" because it is so disheartening to other people in the group who have tried all week and have not lost! I do hope the consultant said something to her in response! (I am sure Em would have done!!)

Welcome to newbies and returnees. Smile

The only way to quench my munchies last night was to bake a cake, so I baked a scan bran chocolate cake and then proceeded to eat half of it - but with no guilt and hoping for a 3lb poo, too!! I then finished the cake for breakfast with defrosted raspberries on the top and a muller light. It was delish!
For dinner tonight I am going to be adventurous with some 5% pork mince and a cabbage. ( mince with onion, garlic, mushroom, and then wrapped in cabbage and oven baked) served with rice, I think.
With no sugar jelly for pud.

Well done Joey, 6lb is amazing!

I lost 1lb, finally! I'm in the next stone down and I've only got 1.5lb to get my club 10.

I'm starting SP tomorrow to see if it'll give me a bit of a boost. Hopefully it won't be too bad. I'm planning on having quark with speed fruit for breakfast, instead of yogurt, so breakfast is easy. Omelettes with speed veg for lunch, if I get stuck. Dinners probably meaty with broccoli, or cauliflower instead of potatoes. Today is a bit off-plan but I'll redeem myself by tea time.

I can do this!

Thank you all so much!

I changed my mind with regards to lunch and had a sort of breakfast crustless quiche instead.

I cooked two of the SW sausages in the airfryer, along with some mushrooms. Then I sliced them up and chucked them all in a silicone cake tray, covered it in egg whisked with cottage cheese and topped it with mature cheddar. Baked it in the oven for ten minutes. It looked so good I took a picture, and it tasted great too!

Am having a craving for chips (with lots of salt and vinegar) some I'm going to make some SW ones to go with my leftover chilli instead of a jacket potato.

Positive What's scan bran?

Joey - Scan bran is a "thing" that tastes like carpet tile and comes out the other end like sandpaper! Blush It is very SW friendly and you can do an amazing amount of things with it. You buy it at the SW groups, or Holland and Barrett - although H&b have stopped selling it in shops and can only be bought online now from them. It speeds weightloss due to the massive fibre dose! Someone here said to have 2 scan brans (the size of ryvita) a day for a regular aid to weight loss, or there is the scan bran challenge, which is to have 4 scan bran a day for 5 days. When I did that I had a 4.5lb loss, which is massive for me as I am a 1lb girl normally. You can have them as your HEB, or 1 syn per scan bran. You can make sweet and savoury dishes and there are loads of recipes. If you don't expect too much from the recipes they are OK, but don't expect anything too much- I look on them as an aid to loss rather than something to look forward to eating. They can be eaten with just cheese spread, or tomatoes on them as well. Oh and you need to drink gallons of water to help them through your system.

Sorry, that was a bit of an essay on scan bran!! Grin

Well done Molly on your loss. Within a touch of club 10 - go girl. I am hoping to get mine this month.

I'm halfway through my first week and it's good to hear of all these great losses. Well done to you all.
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with the bad headaches too although they do seem to be improving with drinking more.
Molly - it's good to hear the Tamoxifen hasn't prevented weight loss.

Not a good week - 1lb on - but I really can't complain as I've used far too many syns on wine over the week so it's entirely my own fault. Need to take myself in hand and really have a good few weeks, I'm fed up of faffing about.

On the plus side I did find a really delicious pasta salad recipe - with bacon, courgette, sweetcorn and baby tomatoes, plus masses of garlic, so that was a couple of delicious lunches worth and I'll probably have it again next week too.

Report
MargoReadbetter · 04/09/2016 07:02

Noodleoozle - disappointing when it happens but put it behind you. I also need to stop the wine. I got into the habit again on holiday and have continued since returning. It all adds up. I've bought sparkling water and keep it next to the fridge. Hopefully I'll choose that rather than the wine or anything else in the fridge. Biggest thing is kids going back to school tomorrow so official end to the holidays.
