Welcome mcdog.

Yesterday was pretty good but did nick few chips and half a packet of crisps from DS. Should be ok within syns though as B, L and D were all free.

Today I can't decide what I want to do but do know I want to be at home for meals. Got a jacket potato and beans/salad for lunch and mushroom stroganoff and rice for dinner planned. DH isn't keen on mushrooms but as he is away I'm making the most of it (mushroom-wise!).

Breakfast was weetabix and milk (HEXA and HEXB).

Think syns will be some halloumi I need to use up as a snack in front of the tv tonight. Mmmm halloumi.

Rastel38 · 04/09/2016 11:04

mcdog That was me last Tuesday. I couldn't have had a warmer welcome. Someone made me a coffee whilst I went through the books with the consultant. Everyone was so friendly I am really looking forward to next week. Good luck tomorrow.

EmilyK83 · 04/09/2016 12:01

Hi newbies!

Noodle - on the plus side at least you know why you gained, I guess - good luck for this week!

My dad's just left after spending the weekend here, so back to normality now! Not before I took him on a 3.5 mile walk to get a bit of body magic in, though Grin

Today's plan for me:

B - satsumas
L - leftover lemon and coriander couscous, plus Moroccan chickpea and carrot salad (2)
D - pasta with lentil ragu and salad. Cooked a massive batch of the ragu the other day - I have 4 portions in the freezer too!

Seems to be a vegetarian kind of day today! HexA will be half homemade skinny lattes and half cheese, HexB will be a Hifi Light and an Alpen Light.

Finished yesterday on 7.5 syns, aiming for under 10 again today...

Welcome newbies. Good luck on your SW journey.

Emily, what's the recipe for lentil ragu, sounds delicious.

B: hifi bar on the go as went food shopping
D: tuna salad
T: sausage and mash

EmilyK83 · 04/09/2016 15:31

Lemony - it's a bit of a made up thing! I chopped some onions and crushed some garlic and cooked them until soft, then added a couple of finely chopped carrots and celery sticks, along with a few chopped mushrooms and half a chopped courgette. Cooked for a bit till they were a bit softer, then added 250g of red lentils and stirred them through. Then a tin of tomatoes, some tomato purée, some beef stock (so not fully vegetarian haha) and some mixed herbs, and simmered until the sauce was nice and thick and the lentils were cooked!

That lentil thingy sounds lovely Emily.

I have made a new discovery. New to me, anyway. I have never roasted mushrooms before, but I threw some into a tray of mixed veg to roast the other day as they needed to be used up. They were the best vegetable out of the lot!

I roasted some mushrooms earlier with aubergine, and added some of Aldi's season-all salt. OMG. If you're a fan of savoury, umami things, then you have to try it. I can only imagine it's even better with some chickpeas in there, but I've run out.

SP day going well so far.

EmilyK83 · 04/09/2016 17:45

Thanks Molly - I've never roasted mushrooms before either, will have to give it a go!

noodlezoodle · 04/09/2016 18:07

Margo I think you're right that having a good alternative close to hand is the key. I like diet tonic so I tend to have that with masses of ice and fresh lime and it's pretty refreshing.

Oriana this is the recipe. She is very keen on bacon grease but I used trimmed bacon and half that amount of olive oil to dress it and it was still delicious. If you use your HexA for the feta then it's just some syns for the olive oil.

MollyRedskirts · 04/09/2016 18:55

If you like very non-SW, creamy mushroom soup, I think roasted mushrooms taste like that. Roasting them makes them more... mushroomy.

I used the coconut fry light to do them. Don't know if that makes a difference, but I'm finding it creamy and more buttery than the other fry lights, even the actual butter one.

I actually went out specifically to buy chickpeas, so I can try them with the roasted aubergine and mushrooms. Planning on having that with a quorn fillet for tea, and maybe some rocket and onions to up the speed. I still have my A left, so cheeeeeeeeese.

maygirl · 04/09/2016 20:46

BasinHaircut · 04/09/2016 21:45

Had a bit of a day here! which led me to a massive slice of lemon drizzle cake

Discovered that my washing machine discharge pipe has been leaking for probably the best part of 2 months, and causing God knows how much damage to my brand new kitchen, and more worryingly the floorboards and subfloor. I'm gutted.

Managed an in plan dinner of mushroom stroganoff though which was yummy.

ALemonyPea · 04/09/2016 22:28

Cake is very much needed in those circumstances Basin. Hope it's not too costly.

BasinHaircut · 04/09/2016 22:32

Thanks lemony. I'm hoping that Wickes will sort it, as we paid them for installation and it's guaranteed for 2 years. Not sure though as technically they didn't install the pipe that's knackered, but they did work and got a cupboard around it, remove and re plumb the washing machine etc and it certainly didn't leak before.

EmilyK83 · 05/09/2016 08:32

Oh no Basin! Hope it gets sorted soon - cake definitely understandable!

Still keeping everything crossed here that I hit target tomorrow morning...we shall see!

Today's plan:

B - fruit
L - leftover lemon and coriander couscous, plus Moroccan carrot and chickpea salad (2)
D - chilli burrito bowl (chilli con carne, rice, shredded lettuce, homemade salsa, sweetcorn, half HexA cheese) plus salad

The rest of my HexA in coffees, HexB cereal bars. Had 14 syns yesterday, aiming for 10 or so today...

Morning, all.
Been for WI this morning, and lost one and a half pounds.
Pleased with that, but would have liked just one and a half more to get me back into target before I go away on holiday on Saturday.
Still, I will be on plan until then, so maybe I will lose that one and a half, but I just won't see it on scales, as I don't have any at home.
Good luck for tomorrow's WI, Emily.

EmilyK83 · 05/09/2016 13:45

Nicely done Chough! Where are you off to on holiday?

And thank you! I'm so nervous...only 1lb to go to target, but our meal out on Fri night was VERY off plan...I'm a bit worried!

OP posts:
chough · 05/09/2016 13:51

Going to Whitby for 2 weeks in a holiday cottage, Emily.
DH is also only just out of SW target ( goes to a Saturday morning group), but we eat what we like on holiday: do lots of long walks with our dog, but lots of eating out, too!
Don't worry about your Friday meal having been off plan in your quest for target, as it's often after weeks like that there's a good loss.

ALemonyPea · 05/09/2016 14:07

Well done Chough, and good, luck Emily. I bet you get target tomorrow, you're greta at this.

I'm wearing jeans today, actual jeans. Can't remember the last time I didn't wear leggings or jeggings. Feel marvellous, and they're slightly loose around my waist. Wish my arse would follow suit.

DC back at school tomorrow. Cannot wait!

B: fruit and yoghurt
D: tuna salad
T: pizza made with wholemeal bread dough (HEB) and cheese from HEA

IneedAdinosaurNickname · 05/09/2016 14:09

Argh. I've totally fallen off the wagon. Keep telling myself "I'll start again tomorrow" been that way for almost a week now.
I'm so annoyed with myself. Id got past the cravings for overly salty takeaways/crisps/jars of food and now I'm back to square one. Dammit.

Sugar8Spice · 05/09/2016 15:15

I'm a lurker here and losing slowly and steadily, but ever optimistic that I'm better off doing that than nothing at all! The people here are all brilliant and ever so eager with their knowledge and honesty. I felt that I had to post some sort of well wishes to Emily. I read most of her posts for many threads and she is both inspirational and very real. And if we're doing this for a lifelong change, then it has to fit into each of our realities. You've done marvellously Emily.

EmilyK83 · 05/09/2016 15:30

Oh nice, enjoy Chough!

Thanks Lemony! Smile Result on the jeans too!

Ineed - prep is key...see if you can prepare a load of meals in advance for the week ahead so you're less likely to fall off the wagon?

That's really kind of you, thank you so much Sugar! I can't wait to become a consultant...am still loving SW 8 months on and you're really right, it's the perfect "diet" to fit into normal life without feeling like it's impossible to enjoy nights out and friends coming over! Good to hear you're losing steadily! Smile

OP posts:
emwithme · 05/09/2016 15:41

Well done Chough and Emily

YAY for jeans Lemony

We had drama in our group over the weekend - someone posted on the local "Spotted" page that the consultant was (basically) a bitch who backstabbed her granddaughter and who was mean and nasty to her. Now my consultant is probably the nicest person I actually know. I don't think she's got a mean bone in her whole body, seriously, she's that nice and caring (it's not just a front, I've had SW consultants where it was, and she just is generally lovely). She did have issues with one person basically stalking her earlier in the year and had to get the Police involved due to the levels of harassment - and she was gutted that she hadn't been able to help them lose weight without them fixating on her, so a lot of us are thinking the two things are linked. Anyhoo, big drama (and I must find out how to contact HO to let them know how wonderful she is) was had yesterday.

Almost back to "normal" here (no DC but holidays are still annoying as DH works in a sixth form college so while he's at work over the hols, he takes all his lieu time that he's banked over the term, and he doesn't have cadets in the evenings, plus my course doesn't run) - DH back to cadets tomorrow am sad that his beard will have to go again so I can get some SP days in.

Today's food:

B: Eggy muffins
L: Ham Salad, apple, pear, satsuma
D: Bolognaise, possibly with squoodles.

I need to go to the supermarket after work because DH did the food shopping on Saturday and he only bought a tiny bag of pears (seriously, 4 pears isn't going to last me very long at all) and the mince he got was the 20% fat stuff it's gone in the freezer for an emergency I am trying to write my shopping list because I forgot the original one on the dining table and I'm at work and I have no inclination to actually work and waaaaaaaaaaaaaah etc.

chough · 05/09/2016 16:24

Oh dear, em, your SW group sounds like a hotbed of drama!
frouby, no need to slink in and out! We've all had weight gains on holidays, so we understand!
You'll soon be back on track.
I myself go away this week, and will be eating my way around Yorkshire.

ALemonyPea · 05/09/2016 16:32

Ooo Em, I love a bit of drama. Feel sorry for the poor consultant though.

Grin Frouby. Keeping fingers crossed your gain is mainly water and burger sauce
