Welcome Joey.

My consultant is ok, she's a bit eccentric, but i think that helps. She's very supportive though, sends lots of texts for inspiration. Sadly, not near Manchester.

I still feel dizzy when I stand up, my legs start shaking and everything. Beginning to annoy me.

Made some 1 syn brownies today. They smell lovely. Using them for a pudding to or with quark and strawberries I think.

B: porridge (HEA and HEB), orange
Missed dinner as was full but had a packet of skips for 4 syns
T: pork medallions, wedges, homemade curried beans, salad and 3 syns for salad cream

froubylou · 27/08/2016 20:52

Lemony was it you with low blood pressure? I have been doing a bit of googling and it can be made wrose with not eating little and often then having a big meal. I have started upping my salt intake. Mine was 87/56 last night which is quite low.

I have noticed that dizzy/heavy feeling a few times so want to address it.

Dp has high blood pressure and ds is only 2 so I rarely use salt in cooking. Have started adding it to my food after cooking.

ALemonyPea · 27/08/2016 21:15

It is Frouby.mi mnot sure whether to eek it out, or go to docs. I'm already at the hospital for two different things, can do without another referral.

I might try have a piece of fruit or veg between meals and see if that helps. I haven't been eating as much the past few weeks, have missed a few meals out accidentally. Will see if that works, thanks.

emwithme · 27/08/2016 22:13

Sometimes I really don't get syn calculation, particularly when it comes to "not-quite-real-food-not-quite-snack-food".

I had a small hungry at about 5 pm today. Fruit wasn't quite hitting the spot (apple, pear, 2xsatsumas) so I thought "oooh, I'll have a mugshot". I have some in the cupboard - the roast chicken pasta ones that are 1 syn.

As some of you may know, I am eating the SW way but tracking everything through MFP (because I have issues with not knowing what size a "normal" portion is that's why I'm fat, that and chocolate ) and have had a lot more success since I've been logging everything, having stagnated for a bit in early Spring.

So after eating it, I logged my mug shot. 224 fricking calories! WHAT THE FUCK? How is that only one syn? I know it's because pasta is a free food as is chicken but 224 calories? It didn't fill me up like 224 calories of actual proper food would, it literally stopped me being hangry for a couple of hours.

froubylou · 28/08/2016 07:23

Have you been taking your BP lemony? Maybe start doing it morning and night if you have a kit at home and keep a diary for a week. That's what they tell dp to do when his is higher than it should be.

Mine has always been on the low side, even when I smoked and even when I was pg (but not smoking!). My mil was a nurse and said it was much better low than high but not too low.

Drinking more fluids can help to create more volume of blood (logical but a bizarre thought!) and also as I said a bit more salt. Eating little and often and avoiding big meals after not eating.

See how you get on doing that for a few weeks and then maybe doctors unless the other issues you have can cause low BP.

Todays plan.

Brunch. Scrambled eggs, beans, toast, mushrooms, tomatoes, possibly bacon.
Tea. Didn't have jacket spud yesterday for tea so probably that.

Not sure on syns yet.

EmilyK83 · 28/08/2016 10:46

Em, some of the syn calculations are really, really weird...I don't understand them at all!

No breakfast for me today, been running round like a lunatic trying to get things ready for a BBQ at a friend's house. Luckily she's on SW too, so everything will be low syn or syn free...

B - none
L - BBQ - chicken and veg kebabs, homemade burgers, pasta salad, normal salad, potato salad (0.5 per serving). And HexA cheese.
D - may not be hungry, probably something like beans on HexB toast if I am...

No idea on the syns front. Finished yesterday on 11...

JOEYDOESNTSHAREFOOD · 28/08/2016 10:49

Morning! You're all so welcoming! 😊

Good to know that the meetings always run like that, I can make a decision on the day if I'm going to be able to stay. The meeting was at 8am (on a Saturday!) and had about 18 people there. She also runs one at 10am which I imagine is much busier.

Yesterday I had to make do with what I had in, as food shop wasn't being delivered until this morning - I did go to Iceland after my meeting though to pick up some of the SW freezer bits.

B- None as was at meeting
L- Sweet Potato wedges and Nandos perinaise (4syns)
D- SW Chimmichurri burger on a brown roll (HEB) topped with 30g cheese (HEA) with some Nandos garlic peri sauce (1/2 syn).

I was really, really impressed with the burger. Usually make my own but this was nice.

Is anybody willing to share their first week losses?

EmilyK83 · 28/08/2016 11:22

I haven't tried those burgers yet Joey - will have to give them a go!

My first week's loss was 4lb...

ALemonyPea · 28/08/2016 11:31

My first weeks loss was 7lb.

Don't have a blood pressure monitor, but might invest in one. I have low blood pressure naturally anyway, even when pregnant.

Made myself a 2.5 syns pud for today as going to my sisters, and I've bought strawberry custard tarts and millionaires cheesecakes from Costco for everyone else. 19 syns in one of those cheesecakes. I have saved one for Tuesday after I get weighed Grin

Meant like the texture of the SW burgers or sausages, wish I did as I love a burger. Make my own now and again, but would be nice to have some in the freezer on standby.

B: hifi bar and orange
D: roast chicken dinner and 2.5 syns pud
T: bacon, cheese and mushroom omelette

chough · 28/08/2016 11:56

em, RE the mugshot: only one syn, but better eaten as part of a meal, with some speed veg mixed in or on the side, rather than as a between- meal snack.
But still a better choice if you're hungry.
In a similar vein, I like a bowl of Smash as a comfort snack: free, but not the best choice as well as meals!

BasinHaircut · 28/08/2016 12:29

First time around my first week loss was 6lb, but that was directly after xmas. I think his time I could only hope for a couple of lbs.

Joey your meal plan for yesterday didn't have much food on it! You need to eat more and make sure you get your 1/3 speed in each meal otherwise you will be starving. You really don't have to starve yourself in SW, that's why it's so good!

MollyRedskirts · 28/08/2016 12:42

I love those burgers. I bought three boxes of them yesterday.

I can't remember what my first weeks loss was, but it won't have been more than 3.5lbs. I've never lost more than that. I am most definitely a 1-2lbs per week person.

Back on plan today. I still haven't found my motivation but I'm doing it anyway.

B: Cooked breakfast with sausages (2 syns), fried egg, mushrooms, courgette, tinned tomatoes. 1 tbsp brown sauce for 1 syn.

L: Leftover chilli with something.

D: No firm plans. Either Aldi minted lamb kebabs (2 syns each) with salad, or maybe a SW burger with salad.

emwithme · 28/08/2016 12:59

Chough It's the same amount of calories as a 4 finger kitkat. The 4 finger kitkat has 11 1/2 syns. The kitkat would probably have done the same job in making me not hangry for a couple of hours (plus I'd've been happy because I'd eaten a kitkat). I had the mugshot with a handful of cherry tomatoes (for speed and so I didn't eat the kettle while it was boiling) having just eaten an apple, pear and 2 satsumas, so while I say it was a "snack" it was more of a small meal.

Anyhoo....today's food:

Brunch: Bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomato
Dinner: Roast beef, roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings, carrot, cabbage, broccoli. Proper gravy
HEA: Milk
HEB: Hifi bars/cashew nuts/apricots - will decide later what I fancy.

tabulahrasa · 28/08/2016 13:30

"The kitkat would probably have done the same job in making me not hangry for a couple of hours"

It wouldn't with me, I'd go back for another one (or two) in that time, lol

I'd not go back for another mugshot.

emwithme · 28/08/2016 15:36

I can stop at one 4 finger kitkat.

I can easily do 2 mugshots (in one nicked from starbucks venti giant mug) without thinking about it.

Much as I do over-eat chocolate or did before they changed all the recipes I am far more of a savoury person (cheese all the way...I even had 6 tiers of cheese as my wedding cake).

Change of plan - not having a roast today. I can't be bothered to cook it and DH is on board, so we're having sausage, mash and onion gravy, and the roast tomorrow.

abigwideworld · 28/08/2016 15:45

A kitkat would probably be enough to set me off on eating three bars of chocolate, two bags of crisps and a partridge in a pear tree. Not a huge fan of mug shots but less likely to eat other stuff after if. Maybe avoid those of they don't work like that for you? We're all different.

ALemonyPea · 28/08/2016 16:05

I love kit kats. My mams husband works at Nestle and often brings them home. Could easily demolish two or more 4 fingered ones.

chough · 28/08/2016 17:16

Not had a kitkat for years, now the seed of desire has been planted in my mind.

JOEYDOESNTSHAREFOOD · 28/08/2016 20:15

Basin I know, as I said, I was waiting for my food order to arrive, I didn't really have much of anything in!

Today-
B- honey nut shredded wheat (HEB) and milk (HEA)
L- SW sausages, bacon, mushrooms, scrambled eggs
D- sweet potato wedges, chicken, salad.

Syns - French fries (4) buttons (4) and mayonnaise (4)

I went to the cinema today so took the French fries with me, and had the buttons just now with a brew. Doing ok so far.

I'm hoping to do some exercise tomorrow too. I'm lucky to have a gym at home (rower, bike, treadmill, punchbag, weights) so will do just a bit of something. If the weather is nice me and DD will walk to the town instead of getting the bus.

EmilyK83 · 28/08/2016 21:01

Today's food looks good, Joey!

Managed to finish today's BBQ on 3 syns - and just had leftover bits for dinner tonight. Plus dessert of sweetened quark, strawberries and 1 syn of Choc shot. 11 syns to play with while watching a film... Smile

OctoberOctober · 29/08/2016 11:33

How does everybody cope with keeping Syns under control? This is my downfall, I'm ok with the meals but the snacks I find hard to resist.

EmilyK83 · 29/08/2016 11:41

October - I tend to save my syns for evening treats - in the morning, I portion out what I'm allowed and know I can only stick to that! If I'm still hungry after my evening meal, I'll make a syn-free dessert of sweetened quark topped with berries to fill me up, then I'm less likely to overdo it on the syns front...

MollyRedskirts · 29/08/2016 11:47

Honestly? I'm still working on keeping syns under control. They're my downfall as well.

One thing I'm trying is to spread my syns throughout the day, so I don't use too many and then get to the evening and think 'Fuck it.' I don't have more than three syns at breakfast. If I have fruit and yogurt, I'll have a tbsp of choc shot for 2 syns. If it's a cooked breakfast it tends to be spent on sausages and a bit of tomato or brown sauce.

I definitely stay more in control when I write everything down, and when I save syns for the evening. My current favourite treat is 7 syns - an Options or Highlight hot chocolate with a Freddo to dip in. I'd rather have that than have a Curly Wurly for 6 syns, as that's gone in no time and I want more. The hot chocolate has to be enjoyed slowly, if that makes sense.

Proud to say I was 100% on plan yesterday. Aiming for the same today. I also realised I only need to lose 2.5lbs to get my Club 10, so I'm aiming to get that either this week or next.

chough · 29/08/2016 12:00

Morning, all.
Been to group this morning, and was disappointed to have gained half a pound, as I've done everything the same as the last 2 weeks, when I've had really good losses.
I'm putting it down to star week, as I do feel very bloated. Also, console myself that years ago, SW didn't even count half pounds!
Would love to be back in target at next WI, which means I would have to lose 3 lb this week. Will do my best.

EmilyK83 · 29/08/2016 16:04

Good luck this week Chough!

Late update from me today - been out walking as the weather's so nice! Almost 11 miles today, and can feel it in my legs! Really praying for a good weigh in tomorrow...

Today's food:

B - skinny latte (HexA)
L - ham, lettuce, cucumber and Laughing Cow extra light (1) sandwich (HexB), veggie sticks, satsuma
D - hot and spicy chicken fillet (0.5), noodles, stir fried veg

Likely to be sweetened quark and berries for dessert, no idea about evening syns yet. Finished yesterday on 15 :)
