Am not sure where we are going Wing otherwise I would have. Will probably have either a jacket potato or a chicken dish with veg or salad rather than chips etc.

I will be eating light anyway as I wont enjoy my curry!

ALemonyPea · 26/08/2016 12:33

Hmm Unicorns, calculator says 10 syns, and that's done with the free noodles. Is it a branded thing?

Took the DC to McDonalds for lunch, so I popped into the M&S next door and got some calamari and salad stuff, and some yummy melon.

How is everyone who restarted the past few weeks doing?

B: fruit, yoghurt and apricots for HEB
D: calamari and salad, melon
T: leftover SW chicken curry with rice and some extra speed
Will, probably have hea as cheese on tuc crackers for 4 syns.

My dad brought me loads of mini Ryvita, and I'm a bit too excited about them,me eh more so that I can have them as my HEB.

BasinHaircut · 26/08/2016 12:52

Lemony I only started back in Tuesday and already had a Chinese takeaway!

But last time I did SW I had an Indian in the first week and still lost 6lb. That was directly after Xmas though so I'm not expecting such a huge initial loss this time.

Other than that I've done alright and am enjoying the food. It's a really busy time of year at work for me and my main issue seems to be snacking at my desk so the busyness is helping by not giving me time to think about food.

Usually I tuck into lunch at 12 exactly but I've only just got it out of the fridge just now.

UnicornsAndMarshmallows · 26/08/2016 13:37

OMG!! That's A LOT of syns!!!! Yikes!!

IneedAdinosaurNickname · 26/08/2016 13:46

Had my 1st wi for a month today. Only lost 3lbs. But a loss is a loss right? And I knew it wouldn't be fab as we've had macdonalds/burger king/cream tea etc over the last few weeks.

WingDefence · 26/08/2016 13:49

Basin I've looked up the syns on the app. Can't find Chinese takeaway crispy beef but Morissons crispy chilli beef is 25.5 for 250g. Takeaway fried chicken rice is 11 syns for a standard 350g portion.

chough · 26/08/2016 13:58

Basin, I think your estimate of 25 syns for the Crispy Chilli Beef and Chicken Fried Rice is a bit on the low side.
Wing's advice sounds a bit more like it!
Enjoy it and count it.

maygirl · 26/08/2016 15:01

On a 4hr train journey and on plan.

B at home, bacon, egg, wilted spinach and dry fried cherry tomatoes.
Train lunch, HeA milk in coffee, brought in my own flask. HeB 1 coconut HiFi, might have another later, (I'm liking this flavour!). Salmon pack and crudités, satsumas and apple. Got pack of walkers baked crisps for 5 syns.

Tonight we are meant to be going for fish and chips. Planning on having just the fish with some mushy peas hopefully! Will attempt not to eat all the batter! Or if there's pots of prawns will go for those (hopeful)

I lurve ryvita minis, but they never have them at my local supermarket. Have to stock up when I'm near a Tesco

chough · 26/08/2016 15:05

maygirl , I would have the fish and chips and enjoy them (45 syns).

BasinHaircut · 26/08/2016 15:56

Thanks for looking that up for me wing, although I wish you hadn't Grin. No I'm totally owning those syns choigh I like the rationale that it's still only 1 meal in 21 that I've slipped on, provided I manage the rest of the week that is!

Chinese takeaway is my weakness. I could live without any other sort of takeaway. Whenever DH is out I end up ordering one because then I don't have to share!

Got a bbq on Sunday and it's likely not going to be totally on plan, but will do my best and try not to be greedy.

I'm going to do some batch cooking over the weekend too so plenty of SW friendly food will be knocking about!

EmilyK83 · 26/08/2016 17:15

Basin - easy to do an on plan BBQ! I use the WW sausages (half a syn each) or make my own burgers - literally just mince, pepper and more salt than you think you need. HexA cheese on top, cooked onions for the sausages, wholemeal 60g roll for HexB. And lots of salad!

BasinHaircut · 26/08/2016 17:21

Thanks Emily, but it's not my bbq and we've been told not to bring any food so I'll be restricted to what is there.

My plan is to stay away from the bread and even if they are not SW friendly ones stick to the meats and salad and not eat too much. I won't be drinking so will take some Diet Coke and fizzy water with me.

calzone · 26/08/2016 18:04

5.5 syns per portion Unicorns 😄

WingDefence · 26/08/2016 18:14

Sorry Basin! Grin

noodlezoodle · 26/08/2016 19:11

Basin I love chinese food too and although it's not quite the same I've started making my own, and you can make it free or really low syn. You can easily make a totally free chicken fried rice and I've tried the 2chubbycubs Mongolian Beef as an alternative to crispy chilli beef and it was delicious - didn't have the crunch of a proper crispy chilli beef but it was really good. I've also made hoi sin chicken meatballs which are delicious.

wishingchair1 · 26/08/2016 19:24

Syn free pizza

Found this on pinterest and have tried it out tonight.

500g wholemeal bread mix lidl, morrisons and asda do it. Mine came in 1kg so used half.

Made dough in bread maker.
Split into 8 portions around 60g each which classes as a hexb.
Used pizza express passata free which is quite rich. Used hexa as mozzerella light 40g and used free toppings. Kids made their own with prawns, tomatoes and sweetcorn and they liked it.
Not had mine yet but tried the crust and it was tasty and good pizza base. I still have 4 portions of dough, which i will freeze.

Adult size, may use a tad more cheese, but prob not much. A good fakeaway and cheap!

BasinHaircut · 26/08/2016 21:15

Thanks for the tip noodle! That beef sounds good will have a look

randomer · 27/08/2016 11:14

anybody know a good group in the Greater Manchester area pls

EmilyK83 · 27/08/2016 11:28

Sorry randomer, I'm down in Bristol!

Finished yesterday on 10.5 syns in the end - happy with that! This is the plan for today...

B - smoked salmon, scrambled egg, spinach, 1/3 HexB toast and 1 syn of Flora Buttery
Skinny latte as HexA while out for a walk
L - breakfast was late so may not want much, maybe just the rest of my HexB toast and some veggie sticks
D - salmon fishcakes from the new mag, with salad and carrot and swede mash

May pig out on the remaining 14 syns as treats while watching a film tonight, as it's Saturday Grin

emwithme · 27/08/2016 16:21

Have you checked the SW website for a group? I also have no clue what's good in Greater Manchester as I'm in Weston-super-Mare

I have just spent some time post-food shopping splitting cashew nuts and dried apricots into individual HEB-sized portions. Now I am wondering why a HEB portion of nuts is roughly what the big bag says a portion is but a HEB of dried apricots is twice what the big bag says a portion is. I know that HEBs are to do with fibre, but why is the "this is a portion" to "this is a HEB" ratio so far off. Hmmm.

Today's food:

Brunch: Bacon, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms (no beans as I had them last night and twice in 14 hours is a bit much even for me)
Snack: Apple and cheese
Dinner: Steak, chips, mushrooms, corn on the cob.
HEA: Milk
HEB: Probably nuts this evening, maybe apricots.

JOEYDOESNTSHAREFOOD · 27/08/2016 16:39

Hello All,

I joined a meeting this morning for the first time. I have over three and a half stone to lose.

I've had a shitty year and it's taken its toll on my weight but things are really starting to look up and I'd like to face them in some of my more beautiful clothes, and to take photo memories too (instead of hiding from the camera as I've found myself doing recently)

I've read this entire thread this afternoon (well actually I fell asleep for an hour - but that's the lack of sleep last night not you guys! Grin ) and I'm really looking forward to what I have ahead.

Question though - my meeting this morning, took nearly two hours, and she went over every members weight loss or gain. Are they always that long? It got a bit tedious towards the end TBH. If I hadn't still needed to be weighed, I'd probably have gone.

Thanks!

MollyRedskirts · 27/08/2016 17:12

Welcome, Joey! LOVE the name!

Unfortunately yes, some meetings tend to be that long. This isn't my first go at SW so I've been to a fair few groups. The consultant will always go around every single person, but some consultants are better than others at speeding it along without making people feel rushed.

Weigh-in today, I maintained. I'm happy with that, as I didn't make it to group last week, so it could easily have been a loss after an undetected gain, if you see what I mean.

Bit of a cheat day today. I'm lacking in motivation. I'm about to crack open the new magazine while DS naps, but if that doesn't kick me up the arse, I'm going to need the big stick.

MollyRedskirts · 27/08/2016 17:21

Wow, ok, I've worked out the syns and I've had 59.5 today. I. Am. DONE.

froubylou · 27/08/2016 18:47

Molly put a line under it and move on!

Joey, welcome. I don't stay to group as my consultant is a bit crap and let's people go on and on and on. Some groups are better than others and I know the 11am group is much quicker than the 9am one as it's smaller. I get group support from here!

Had planned for this weekend to be a write off as we were pony showing 2 days but decided not to bother tomorrow as the weather is shite. So back on plan for today and probably tomorrow too.

Today is all about the humble jacket potato.

B. Coffee
L. Jacket spud, beans and a bit of cheese in the pub.
T. Jacket spud, salad and tuna.

HeA in the cheese and coffee, heb hi Fi bars. Syns on the gin. Probably be 7. Might have fruit and yoghurt later if I fancy it.

I also ordered a how to make authentic curry book which arrived today. It uses lots of oil unfortunately but am going to have a play around with it and work out syns per portion etc and have a go next week. It's got to be better than a takeaway curry and according to folk on here its very authentic.

You make a curry sauce up then adapt and add stuff depending what you want. Will let you all know what it turns out like and the sy s next week!

BasinHaircut · 27/08/2016 18:57

Evening all! Don't think I checked in yesterday as I had to pop out after work and ended up eating weetabix for dinner at about 9:30pm. Very late for me.

So yesterday was:
B - fruit and yoghurt (6.5 syns for he yummy yoghurt)
L - cheese (HEXA) and chicken salad
D - weetabix (HEXB) and milk (reckon 4-5 syns worth of whole milk)

So not as low syn as if hoped after my Chinese but didn't really eat that much. Didn't get out for my run either so did that at 7am this morning and that was lush. Did week 2 run 1 of couch to 5k.

Today's food:
B - weetabix and milk (HEXA & HEXB)
L - chicken pad Thai with onions, mushrooms and carrots (3-4syns for sauce)
Snack - sweet and salty popcorn (4syns)
D - jacket potato, beans, cheese and salad. (5 syns for cheese, probably 2 for teeny bit of oil on jacket skin)

So I'm calling 15 syns for today.

Had a cheeky weigh in this morning too and was down 1 and a quarter pounds. Was a bit disappointed even though I know that's irrational because I've only been back on it since Tuesday and I had a Chinese on Thursday!

Think tomorrow and Monday are gong to be tricky to stay in plan as we have a bbq tomorrow and I've no control over the food, and Monday is a day at the seaside where chips will probably be consumed. So I've decided to not weigh until next Tuesday (so 2 weeks after starting) because it's bank holiday, the sun is shining, and life is pretty good, so if I want chips and an ice cream at the seaside then I will have them. It has been a stressful year and we've been bogged down in building work at home, crazy times at work and not really doing much nice stuff with DS at weekends so I think I just want to make the most of this weekend. I'm still planning to eat on-plan breakfast and dinners, it's just lunches for the next 2 days. And I'll try not to snack apart from the ice cream!
