Hello all

Rice is the same if you buy the packets. But I find if I make rice I make twice as much as I need so have more. Whereas if I do a packet that serves 2 I only have half a pack. So I usually use packet rice on that basis and syn it anyway.

Been shopping today for show trousers and a shirt to go take my baby pony out on Sunday. Lovely NSV as I could get size 14 tailored trousers on. Went for the 16s in the end as I shrink everything by at least a size in the tumale dryer and dnot fancy splitting my trousers in the ring once washed. And my hairdresser noticed I had lost weight.

Am currently 12s 8lbs. It's my 40th next October and want to be 9st for it. I would be about a size 8 so very slim but hopefully that is achievable.

Today we have been out since 8am. So was a grab and go lunch.

B. Coffee
L. Small sushi pack from m and s
T. Salad, salmon and new potatoes. Hifi for B choice, A in coffee. SyN's am not sure yet.

Well done Gadget. Am weljel of your losses!

It's not going well here - I've picked up a bug from somewhere or my meds are destroying my stomach again but I haven't been able to stomach good since Thursday :-(. I'm slowly getting better - managed some cereal and an apple lunch time but won't eat anything else now. I'm not worrying about syns etc right now but haven't lost any weight!!! How does that work ??!!

First post here as I've just done my first week and lost 6.5lb! I'm so chuffed but terrified it was a mistake and when I go back next week I'll be down a 1lb or something. I have 2.5stones to loose in total (or just over 2nowGrin) Glad to have found this thread for ideas and support!

Nice NSV frouby - and isn't it great when people notice! Grin

Hope you feel better soon Comeon :( Our consultant has said that you need to eat to lose weight, or your body goes into starvation mode and stores stuff every time you do actually eat. Could you maybe make some speed soup?

Lady, that's amazing, well done! Half stone award next week for sure! Smile

Well done lady, I'm sure it's not a mistake.

Well done gadget too, you're doing brilliantly.

I've had a lean piece of ham in the slow cooker all day. Now cooking new potatoes, broccoli, sweet potato fries and sweet corn to go with it.

FFS, sometimes I think I need to go to remedial maths classes. 12 - 5 is not 5, it's 7. That's what my scales were showing as a gain on Sunday. Proper WI today and it's a gain of 5lbs over the two weeks, so 2lbs down since Sunday at home.

Line drawn and horse got back on etc.

Today's food (SP day):

Breakfast: Brekkie muffins, satsuma, nectarine
Lunch: Ham salad, apple, pear, satsumas
Dinner: Prawn stir fry
HEA: Milk
HEB1: Oat bran
HEB2: Hifi bars
Syns: Penguin bar it just jumped into my mouth when I was making DH's lunch for tomorrow, honest guv (5.5 syns). It was bloody delicious Grin

EmilyK83 · 21/07/2016 19:36

Em, that 5lb will come off in no time I'm sure!

Haven't posted a food pic for a while, so here's dinner: chilli con carne with rice and salad, and ff yoghurt instead of sour cream. Syn free!

Why is the run up to the school holidays so busy? Can't wait for tomorrow to end and the kids are finished for 7 weeks. I'll not be saying that towards the end, but for now, I'm super mum Grin

B: fruit, yoghurt, hifi bar
D: naked noodle pot, some ham (forgive me slinkies, I had no speedy foods with that)
T: super speedy packed chilli with wedges and a fuckton of lettuce

My group finishes late too, some organised folk eat pasta salads there after weigh in, others are spotted at the kebab van after class Grin

Morning all and welcome newbies.

Isn't this a lovely, supportive thread. I don't stay to group because my toddler hates it but don't need to because I have this thread.

Todays plan is

B. Coffee
L. Salad and tuna
T. It's flexible syns day so curry and rice. Heb will be hifi and HeA in coffee. I probably need 2 b choices today as forgot for the last 2 nights to have my hifi bar!

Next couple of weeks should be good for losing too. Dp is working funny shifts. He will be leaving about 3.30pm and home for 10am. I don't eat much in the day and will be able to really please myself at teatime. Will probably not drink either so all good!

Hi Fikee - well done on losses so far!

Ha, frouby - I'm the complete opposite, I have my worst weeks when dp is away as I forget to eat or eat at funny times which seems to affect my losses!

Today:

B - HexB muesli, fruit and ff yoghurt
L - Linda red onion and rosemary sausages and free and speed veg
D - chicken tikka masala and rice, plus syn free raita - will syn a poppadum or two (2 syns each)

Koko chocolate coconut milk or a skinny latte as my HexA, not decided yet...

Finished yesterday on 7.5 syns, trying to atone for the pizza on Weds night!

Morning all :)
So popped to DPs last night (parents not partner) and saw they'd already packed a big box of weetabix so that saves me bringing some. Then DMum said 'and we've got everything for a fry up on Sunday morning. I said that wouldn't really help my diet (don't use that word normally but wanted to get straight to the point) and DDad huffed and said something along the lines of well tough, they weren't going to account for my eating needs. Hmm
Looks like it's going to be a battle to SW-use the meals. If they just swapped oil for fry light we'd all be happy - I don't want an oil-laden meal. The thought makes me feel gross. And they both need to lose weight so I was hoping to educate them about how SW is just eating normally :(

Report
EmilyK83 · 22/07/2016 09:12

Wing...that's tough Sad Can you offer to do the fry up on Sun morning, and sneak in a bottle of frylight? And then maybe offer to cook one night, and do it fakeaway style - SW burgers or similar, to show them that you can still eat the good stuff and it's not all lettuce and celery?

Report
froubylou · 22/07/2016 09:30

That's rubbish Wing. Could you make an omelette instead maybe? And just use a smidgen of oil.

I struggle sometimes trying to get my dp to understand. He is pretty good at eating what I cook but if he cooks he uses too much oil and sneaks in bits and pieces thinking I won't notice. I do though.

I made my own salad dressing last night as I forgot to buy some. Used oil, vinegar, mustard and a bit of honey. Only had a teaspoon of it but could taste the oil and have indigestion this morning and think it is from that. Bleurgh.

Report
WingDefence · 22/07/2016 10:35

Well I was going to take frylight anyway (or buy some there, we're going to Wales) so perhaps I could take over the fry up... They've been supportive of how slim I'm looking but I guess they'll be thinking 'it's a holiday, just eat what you want' - but I'm 0.5lbs from my 2 stone award and I want to get it when I return from holiday!

DH is very good now, he does things like buys fresh pasta but I hadn't told him fresh was synned and it's fine, he doesn't really need to know the tiny details of the plan as he has picked up all the main points.

But what I love most about SW is that the DCs don't know I'm 'dieting' because we eat the same food and if not, like when I had spag bol before the BBQ so I was too full to want a burger or hot dog, I just tell them it's what I fancied to eat. So if I'm going to have to keep saying that I don't want what they are all eating it's going to cause me stress and potentially cause an argument between me and DPs. Argh!!

And breathe... Need to pack. Will check in later. :)

Hi
I've just joined mumsnet.
I've been doing slimming world since April and I've now lost 1st 4.5 lb.
it's been slow but sure. But I do have most of my syns every day to get me through

Can anyone advise me on alcohol? Usually I'd stick to spritzer (with soda), but I know a glass of wine is 6 syns isn't it. Should I be going for gin & slimline tonic instead? Got a bit of a liquid lunch coming up with some friends and I do want to be able to join in a bit without ruining my week. Have saved syns today and will do so tomorrow too.

I'm the same with my kids Wingdefence, they don't know I'm unhappy with my weight and trying to lose some, and as we all eat the same they don't need too. Maybe tell DPs the DCs also don't like greasy food cos not used to it! I went away with a big group and was in charge of breakfast so did a mix of regular and lower syn sausages , baked the mushrooms and tomatoes instead of frying + did loads of baked beans to fill up on!
Really enjoyed today's meals
B dry fried egg, beans on half heB toast, mushrooms for speed
HeA milk in coffee
L pasta with tinned sardines in tomato sauce, loads of salad
Snacks out for afternoon with kids, strawberries, apple, orange
D melon starter, homemade fakeaway: Thai red seafood curry (4.5 syns for coconut milk and paste) with cherry tomatoes and stir fried veg pack in oyster sauce. Small portion fragrant rice. Was lush! Mini twister 2 syns

Wonky yep a 175 ml glass wine is about 6 syns if about 10% alcohol, the 13% wine is 8.5 for 175 ml. Large 250ml glass 9 syns or 11.5 respectively. You could go for wine spritzers or spirits with diet mixers for less syns per drink. I find a glass of wine lasts me longer and is more enjoyable though! Pimms is low syn if they have diet lemonade to mix it with and nice on a hot day!

Report
Tequilamockinbird · 22/07/2016 20:45

Yes wonky, spirits are less syns than wine, which is quite high.

I've struggled with the heat today, and the fact there is a box of magnums in the freezer Sad. But managed to be good and froze a miller light instead, not the same but took the sweet craving away and cooled me down!

Breakfast today was omelette and a hifi bar.
Lunch was left over ham from last night in a kingsmill whole meal thin with some cold potatoes.
Dinner was pasta bake using dried pasta, passata, bacon and a sprinkle of cheese.

Report
wonkylampshade · 22/07/2016 21:05

Thanks both. Perhaps I should go for gin and slimline tonic then. If I ask for lots of tonic and ice they should see me right!

Today I had:

B. 1 slice toast, 2 poached eggs
Skipped lunch
D. Two bbq'd chicken breasts with half a bread roll and lots of cucumber, tomato and pepper salad followed by strawberries and light creme fraiche.

Snacks were a satsuma and a twix.

So I think I had 7 syns for the twix, and a few for the bread roll.
