I do have a question, I'm breastfeeding so you get more a's I can have like 4 HEAs. Is there anything to say I actually have to have this many, it just seems a lot and concerned it will slow my weight loss down?

froubylou · 25/07/2016 19:47

Voddy I did sw a couple of years ago when I ebfing ds. I still lost having 4 HeAs. And found I genuinely needed them. I didn't have much cheese but did make it up in milk. I never normally drink milk but did find my body wanted it.

I did find my loss slow and steady but think this was more due to bfing than the extra a choices.

maygirl · 25/07/2016 20:22

Voddy I did it too whilst ebf and must admit I usually had extra heBs more often than extra HeAs. I did it in the old red and green days and the advice was preferably more from A but didn't say it had to be 4 of the 6 hex. I was eating yogurts , fromage frais, brocolli and fish so wasn't concerned about calcium from dairy. Not a big milk or cheese lover! I lost weight fine having 3-4B choices and DS was fine. He's 10 now! After DD (now 6) I did struggle a bit more with getting the plan right and felt rough when I tried cutting them out to try and boost weight loss. With the current advice you could have 3A and 3Bs if you prefer.

Hi

I've got my first weigh in tomorrow and just doubting I've lost any weight!

Twinklestar2 · 25/07/2016 22:29

My menu today

Apricot wheats and skimmed, coffee

Chicken pasta and salad, coleslaw

Chicken, new potatoes, big salad, reduced fat coleslaw

A bag of salt and vinegar oddities.

Is coleslaw high in syns? I had a tablespoon both times.

EmilyK83 · 25/07/2016 23:04

Twinkle, reduced fat coleslaw seems to be 5 syns for 100g, not sure what that is in tbsp!

Chough - where are you going for dinner? If there's a menu online, post the link and we may be able to help with finding the most SW-friendly choices?

Good day for me today. Ending on 5.5 syns, and walked 7.3 miles. Hoping it contributes to a good result at weigh in tomorrow morning! I'm lowering my target to 9st 9lb (originally set it at 10 stone) so I have 12lb to go...

chough · 26/07/2016 08:11

Emily, we're going to the Turnpike Inn at Rishworth Moor: we don't live in that area, but it's a midway meeting point with family who live on the other side of the country.
I would usually just have whatever I wanted when going out for a meal, as I've been a target member for a few years, but now that I've slipped out of target, I'm keen to not scupper my loss for the week.So although I know the plan well, that's why I'm a bit stuck for ideas!
I've looked at their website, Emily, and they just have a sample menu on there, which doesn't look particularly SW friendly- lots of fried stuff and cheesy sauces.
Thought I would probably choose a roast dinner, as I could fairly easily estimate the syns for that.

profpoopsnagle · 26/07/2016 09:41

frouby I have all 3 of the hairy bikers books and use them a lot- some lovely recipes, either free or Very Good Syn Value for the taste.

I lost a shock 2.5lbs last week which I was amazed at given how much water I'd drunk before weigh in. Reached my club 10 and also meant I am now at my lowest weight I have been for about 3-4 years. She said something about a free session now I have club 10 but I was a bit confused- does anyone know?

My scales show I should lose again officially tonight but I am now off work and it's so much more tempting to eat at home and drink endless tea. I go away next week too, so whilst I want a few flexible moments I am determined not to go that mad. But whatever happens, I'm getting back on it as soon as I get back and then get to target before Christmas.

chough · 26/07/2016 09:51

prof, don't know if things have changed since I got my Club 10 award, but I seem to recall receiving a congratulatory letter in the post from SW head office, and a voucher for a free week.
Think I had to maintain that loss or lose more for a certain number of weeks before using the voucher.
Well done on your achievement.

EmilyK83 · 26/07/2016 10:15

Chough - I'd maybe go for a steak if they still have steak on the menu, and see if you can switch side orders? Or a salad with no dressing?

EmilyK83 · 26/07/2016 10:16

Just weighed in, 2.5lb loss this week, so chuffed with that! I've lowered my target from 10 stone to 9st 9 as well, so I now have just 9.5lb to lose to get there...I'm buzzing!

chough · 26/07/2016 10:20

Well done on that loss,Emily: 2.5 lbs is a really good loss.
Yes, steak's a good idea- thank you.

EmilyK83 · 26/07/2016 10:42

Thanks Chough! I had a different healthy b choice every day this week - seemed to work and I'll be doing it again this week!

chough · 26/07/2016 10:48

When my consultant has set "challenges" for us in the past, one of them is to have a different "b" choice every day.
I just remembered that when you mentioned it, and it always seemed to lead to good losses; I think our bodies get used to having the same foods, and having something different "shakes up" our metabolism ( I don't have any scientific evidence for this: it's just a choughism!)

EmilyK83 · 26/07/2016 12:07

I completely agree with you! I always try and do something a little different each week to try and mix it up, means I don't get bored as well!

EmilyK83 · 26/07/2016 13:32

Sorry Prof, missed your post - you can redeem your Club 10 free week 10 weeks after you get it (I think) - as long as by that point you're the same weight or lower than when you got the Club 10 award. Good luck for tonight!

ALemonyPea · 26/07/2016 13:40

Well done on the losses so far everyone.

2lb off for me today. Chuffed, but equally gutted as needed 2.5 for my 2.5 stone award. That should be next week now. I just need 1.5 to get to the next stone bracket as well. Keep everything crossed for me, as I'm getting weighed a day early, and at night.

B: fruit, yoghurt, hifi bar
D: noodles
T: spaghetti bolognese

EmilyK83 · 26/07/2016 14:00

Nicely done Lemony - means it's easier to get there next week!

Forgot to post today's meals...

B - none (weigh in)
L - SW paella ready meal (first time I've tried it, it's lush!)
D - depends. I've got a dentist appointment this afternoon, and what I eat will depend on what I CAN eat! Will be an off plan meal though for sure!

WingDefence · 26/07/2016 15:55

Hi all - sorry I've been quiet! Having fun on hols. Well done for the losses and welcome to newbies - this really is a supportive group :)

Had the fry up for lunch today instead and managed to get my mum to bake all the sausages, grill the bacon (hardly any fat so didn't cut it off), frylighted the mushrooms, had beans and then she just fried the eggs in oil so I let that go! Trying to food optimise where I can so making sensible choices but definitely going over syns. It's okay though - if I was pigging out I'd feel guilty but I don't mind. Will have some more wine tonight.

Alemony I think you said you were coming up to blackpool? That's vaguely my neck of the woods (well, 45 mins away but that's near considering I live in the middle of nowhere). Enjoy!

ALemonyPea · 26/07/2016 16:14

Yes, going to Blackpool, so lots of fish and chips and fast food. I'm going to enjoy myself but also try make better food choices. Will fill up at breakfast and take some hifi bars as well.

froubylou · 26/07/2016 17:12

Hello all

Well done losers! My WI tomorrow and hoping for a loss after being off plan for the weekend.

B. Coffee
L. Bags of mini cheddars. Think they are 5.5 syn's for the size I had
T. Jacket spud with tuna and salad. Didn't have it last night as found a veggie chilli in freezer so had that instead.
A in coffee, b as a hifi bar. Syns am not sure yet. Might have a bit if cheese on my spud!

EmilyK83 · 26/07/2016 17:33

Wing, that's brilliant - and eggs fried in oil are surprisingly low in syns - 1 syn each I think?

Hope weigh in goes well tomorrow frouby!

Well, dinner has been planned - I'm off to Turtle Bay - Caribbean chain restaurant. It's a review meal, so I have to have three courses - don't think I'm going to be sticking to plan though! Smile

emwithme · 26/07/2016 18:04

Well done losers!

Yes - fried eggs done in oil are only a syn (or maybe 1.5 syns) each. Not much at all.

As for the Club 10...it sits on your account on the computer and in ten weeks time, if you've maintained the 10% weight loss (or lost more) then when you go to pay, it will flash up at the person on the pay desk, and you can use it rather than paying your £4.95. If you're on a countdown, it will wait until the end of the countdown.

Having an SP day today:

Breakfast: Overnight "oats" using scan bran and quark (made thinner with water). Was OK (please imagine Columbia from Rocky Horror saying that).

Lunch: Ham salad, apple, pear, satsumas.
Dinner: Prawn and veggie stir fry
HEA: Milk
HEB1: Scan bran
HEB2: Hifi bars

Bought some of the Waitrose belgian chocolate froyo earlier. Cannot wait for DH to be out later to eat half a tub some.

ALemonyPea · 26/07/2016 18:04

Oooo Emily. There is a Turtle Bay opened near me not so long ago, I'm dying to go. Let me know what you think.

profpoopsnagle · 26/07/2016 19:01

Thanks for the club 10, makes sense. It will be a nice surprise in 10 weeks time to (hopefully) use it.

Lost 1.5lbs officially, so very happy, had 2 good weeks in a row.

B- shredded wheat, skyr yoghurt with blueberries (I know not speed but that's all I had).
L- salad with leftover jerk salmon fillet. More yoghurt!
D- pulled pork, butternut squash 'chips' and HM coleslaw. Even more yog with strawberries!

Snacks- triple biscuit, banana, various other speed fruit.

Reckon I'm up to 11 syns, may squeeze a small glass of wine out later or may not.
