Hope Calzone doesn't mind me starting the new thread- we've run out of room- eek!

Me new thing for this week has been cauliflower rice. Filling, doesn't taste too bad with strong flavours like chilli or curry but boy does it stink!

Thanks calzone, well done on your loss.
I took pictures at the start and plan on doing them again after each stone.
How long was it before you noticed a change in your physical appearance?
I think ive been fat for so long I'm
Struggling to see where the weight has gone from-although a friend I hadn't seen for a few weeks said she thought I looked slimmer (only DH knows I've joined SW so it was nice to hear)

calzone · 30/05/2016 23:50

Am not sure really.

I lost 9lbs in the first week which really kept me going for months!

I felt slimmer by Easter and had size 14 jeans then...... Was in a 12 by July and am a10/12 now depending on what I wear.

I wil never be a skinny size 8. I have size 8 feet and would look awful at 8/9 stone. People are telling me now not to lose more but I want to drop a few pounds so I apcan gain them in Italy.

tabulahrasa · 31/05/2016 00:09

"Does anyone think it's a bad idea on an SP to miss out on your hexb 2 by the way? If we are talying pure calories I'd rather have a banana tbh."

Well that's why it's either have an SP day with 2 b choices or just an extra easy day with a banana...but all that extra speed should still boost your weight loss, there's no reason at all not to have mostly SP foods on an EE day, or even just for one meal.

Whoever it was with synned yoghurts - that isn't right, to have an actual SP day with 2 b choices you can't have those either because the syn calculation includes a certain amount of yoghurt being free, and you shouldn't be having anything that's just free.

froubylou · 31/05/2016 07:14

See I don't get the 2 extra b choices. If you are having more speed food surely you are having more fibre so don't really need the extra b? And if an extra b choice is generally 6 syns then surely it would be less syns to have a yoghurt as a free yoghurt is free!

I generally like sw but some of it does have me scratching my head.

Yesterday was the first day I went to bed hungry and the first day I didn't have loads of speed. It was the first time I looked in the fridge and cupboard and felt deprived lol. I definitely need to do a big shop today. Could do with getting to the butchers but am really busy all day so it might have to be tomorrow. And I desperately need to meal plan this week. Half term so will be out of routine.

EmilyK83 · 31/05/2016 08:57

Frouby - they say if you're having Alpen Lights/Hifi lights on a SP day it's more "speedy" to just have one as a HexB choice rather than 2...I don't understand some of the SW quirks either though!

Weigh in shortly, hoping for 2lb off. Amazed at what a difference 3st 3lb off has made to my face!!

Thanks all,

I'm in Rochford near Southend Emily.
Just found our via our FB page I was slimmer of the week yesterday so well chuffed, helped keep me on track after a vodka lime &soda and beef space raiders last night (extra bad Syns) I'd quite like a Fitbit too but don't want to wear it on my wrist. I've currently got walklogger on my phone but it's a pain as always have to have my phone on my person lol. Good luck today all

gadget1974 · 31/05/2016 10:06

Hi All,

Are Dad's allowed to post?

I started SW two weeks ago, hadn't weighed myself in a year and shocked to see I was up to 17st 3lb. For some reason I have been told I can have up to 25 syns per day - target is to lose 4 stone.

1st Week I lost 7.5lb, next weigh in is today. Been camping all weekend and managed to stick to plan, apart from Saturday when I had two large glasses of wine and to large gin and slimline. Hoping to lose at least 5 lb on this weigh in.

EmilyK83 · 31/05/2016 10:33

Hi gadget!

Ahhhh Essex, I was born in Rochford!

Happy this morning - lost 2.5lb this week, so chuffed! 1.5lb to go to my 3.5 stone award - determined to do it next week!!

nomoreheroes · 31/05/2016 10:53

Morning all,
Interesting to hear all the different questions and answers on SP - it is a little hard to understand the reasoning behind some of it, but then it is hard to comprehend any eating plan where a healthy, tasty, natural food like an avocado has more "syns" than a chocolate bar! I don't believe that all calories are created equally but that's a discussion for another day. In the meantime, I found the SP q&a on the SW website (took me ages to find it!) which may make things slightly clearer:
group.slimmingworld.co.uk/useful-features/extra-easy-sp.aspx

Well done on all the losses, especially Gadget - never in my wildest dreams will I lose 7.5lbs or even 5lbs in a week! I haven't even got my half stone award yet after 4 weigh-ins...fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Today's plan:
B Porridge (hexb), milk (hexa) and apple
Snack Quark and berries
L Bacon, bean and tomato soup
D Not sure yet - chicken and mince in the fridge, trying to make it an SP day so will see what I can think of...any ideas? I have cauliflower to make rice, or carrot/swede for mash but too warm today for cottage pie! Maybe meatballs or something?

gadget1974 · 31/05/2016 11:14

Thanks for the link NMH, that does help to clarify SP.

Today's menu:
two weetabix with skimmed milk
1 large tub of fruit salad (melon, watermelon, grapes, pineapple, raspberries and strawberries with some 0% yoghurt)
Jacket potato & beans for lunch
Chicken Jambalaya for tea
Probably and apple and satsuma for snacks
Green tea

I am fortunate as I don't eat much sweet stuff, so not chocolate cravings - although I do miss pasties! My biggest issue has been drink - been averaging a bottle of red every evening, now cut down to a couple of Gin and slimline tonics instead. So far it's been relatively easy to stay on plan however we are staying with friends in a couple of weeks and that is likely to be a miss from a syns perspective!

EmilyK83 · 31/05/2016 11:19

My plan today...

B - none (weigh in)

L - leftover pork and leek lasagne with salad (3 syns)

D - off out for a work meal, standard on a Tues night!

Fizzyboo · 31/05/2016 11:56

Hi all, can I join you?

Currently 30 weeks pregnant, but as I remember from losing 4 stone previously with SW, you can follow SW when pregnant too yeah? But with more healthy extras or something?
Ate a huge Chinese last night and felt so guilty about it, I want to get the good wholesome food in me asap!

OrianaBanana · 31/05/2016 12:54

Yes one extra HEA and one extra HEB. No SP days.

Welcome!

ALemonyPea · 31/05/2016 13:07

Welcome newbies and well done losers!

1.5lb off again this week. Getting a bit of a regular thing Grin. Not feeling as downbeat as I was last week, onwards and upwards. Need to lose 2lb for my 1 and a half stone award, and if I lose 3 I will be in the next stone bracket, which I am aiming for. So will have a few SP days I think as managed well with yesterday's.

B: nothing as WI
D: Greggs chargrilled chicken salad (4.5 syns), fruit pot
T: tuna pasta salad with cheese as HEA.

Not sure what to have as HEB yet. Might have hifi bars.

trinitybleu · 31/05/2016 13:14

Hi gadget - men get 25 syns, I believe

Had a bad week and put on 3.5lbs but I know why. Line has been drawn and am on it again now!

Hulababy · 31/05/2016 13:32

Just joined SW online this weekend, starting yesterday. Have a couple of stone to lose to get to a decent BMI. First target is to lose some weight before my holiday in 6 weeks.

I can get my head round the Extra Easy thing - free foods, HEa (pretty much always going to be some milk for hot drinks for me) and HEb (pretty much likely to be 2 small slices of wholemeal bread for a sandwich at lunch), then some syns.

I don't really understand the SP days thing - do I need to be doing something different some days?

B/L yesterday were lacking in fresh veg due to waiting for Ocado to come later on! So yesterday I had:

B - scrambled eggs followed by some grapes.
L - Spaghetti hoops and toast (no butter), followed by a WeightWatchers yogurt
D - Quorn cottage pie made with vegetables, tin tomatoes, some Henderson's relish, herbs and mashed potatoes on top, served with spring greens and broccoli. Followed by a meringue nest with natural yogurt and strawberries.
HEa was milk for drinks.
HEb was 2 slices of wholemeal bread, from a small loaf.
Syns were the meringue and the Henderson's Relish.

Today is:
B - grapefruit and fat free natural yogurt
L - FF cottage cheese sandwich, with cucumbers, tomatoes and spring inions. Followed by a WW yogurt and a banana.

D will be vegetable stir fry and noodles, with soy sauce, I think.

Hulababy · 31/05/2016 13:35

DH is supposed to be following it too, along side me. Where does it tell me on the website where changes are made for men? Does he get more syns or something? I know he can still eat meat (I don't eat meat, only fish, so that is extra info for me really) on the whole, for "free" but anything else he should know?

ALemonyPea · 31/05/2016 13:42

Welcome Hula.

Men get 25 syns, but the rest is the same AFAIK.

looking at your menu yesterday, you need to have more speed foods with your meals (your tea was fine though). Grapes aren't a speed fruit. If you look on the daily meal planner, the speed fruit and veg are indicated by an S. With your hoops on toast, you could have added some mushrooms for your speed.

Speed should cover a third of your plate, so reducing calories as you're replacing some of your regular food with speed foods.

Don't worry about SP days just yet, get into the diet first, then see how you go.

Hulababy · 31/05/2016 13:45

Yes, yesterday def lacked the veg - as mentioned, was waiting for Ocado to deliver fresh food. Will have more today hopefully.

emwithme · 31/05/2016 13:50

Hi all. Had the in-laws staying for a few days so there's been lots of wine, lots of gin and lots of Waitrose salted caramel tart and pecan and walnut cheesecake and a giant curry out last night. They've left this morning so it's back on plan for me until Thursday's weigh in.

SP day today in the hope I can claw something back...

Brunch: Bacon medallions, beans, tomato, fried eggs (in frylight), mushrooms. Toast (HEB1)
Snack: Apple, pear, satsumas
Dinner: Salmon fillet, butternut squash spaghetti, mushrooms.
HEA: Milk
HEB2: Hifi bars

tabulahrasa · 31/05/2016 13:54

"I don't really understand the SP days thing - do I need to be doing something different some days?"

Only if you want to.

Twinklestar2 · 31/05/2016 14:05

Hi all

Attempting a second SP day today, but I had to go out for lunch and tried to choose the healthiest thing on the menu. It was chicken pho so chicken breast in a broth with loads of Chinese type veg and some noodles at the bottom.

What would you do? Would you change to a normal EE day as noodles aren’t S or P foods? There really wasn’t that many noodles.

Also, are kidney beans an S or P food? I thought they were but my tracker doesn’t say.

Buttwing · 31/05/2016 17:24

Hmm that's interesting tabulah, our leader is also one of the area managers and we've had this debate in group over yogurts and she insists that your syns can be used on what ever you want to use them on even synned yogurts on sp days, there are no changes in your syn allowance as far as I'm aware when you do and sp day eg you can't have crisps (carbs) or wine (grapes!)

Good day for me today despite going on a day out with the kids.

B-coffee
L-baked potato and beans with salad
D-spicy bacon pasta
