Well done Hay and good luck Kitty! Hope your MIL is ok basin?

I tend to measure in mugs for dried pasta and I have about 50g rice (I have a scoop thing). I'm not sure I eat the full mug of pasta - it's usually two and a bit mugs between me, DH and DS (4) so I probably have about two thirds of a mug. I use smaller plates for dinner usually - somewhere between a side plate and a dinner plate.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 23/03/2016 08:57

Good luck everyone weighing in today! (I always read WI as 'women's institute' and my mind goes Confused for a sec Grin)

I just weighed in - 1lb down, wahoo! It's going on the start chart :)

cowboylover · 23/03/2016 09:00

Hello! Glad I found you, sorry I dropped off for a while on here and our IG #mumsnetsw for any newbies

Having a really hard time at the moment and going through a lot of changes in my life, currently trying to save my marriage and agreed to see my motorbike as a compromise but it's my passion and I can't imagine living without it. I know deep down I am doing the right thing but I need to try but there have been a lot of tears and trying remind myself that Chocolate and cake doesn't really help.

I have not been totally off plan but not on enough either with not enough speed food and that sort of thing. I am still eating better when I'm feeling bad than I was a year ago!

Sorry but don't really know why I'm telling you all this but wanted to get it out.

So anyway I am going to try post meals here daily again and give myself something to focus on!

Today's plan is puffed wheat for breakfast after I got a taste for them from someone mentioning them here so thanks for that who ever it was! And the rest of the day I have no idea yet.

Gruffalosgrandma · 23/03/2016 09:46

Can I join in please. I am going back to SW tonight after a 2 year gap and heavier than when I started last time. I have been trying calorie counting but the more I can't have , the more I want Confused. I am so fed up of being overweight and have at least 5st to lose.

katenka · 23/03/2016 09:56

There's a mumsnet SW Instagram tag!!! I never knew.

Although I use my IG mainly for work so it may not help anyone. I make high calories food for body builders. Maybe I need another account for SW

EmilyK83 · 23/03/2016 14:10

Sorry to hear that Cowboy - but good on you for changing "bad eating" habits - impressive control!

Hi Gruffalos - you can definitely do it!

Flossyfloof · 23/03/2016 16:13

I am not struggling at all with the plan but have only lost about 4 lbs in 4 weeks. I want to lose about a stone in total but will have to stay on plan to maintain.
I feel really fed up about it - I am seeing people around me losing a stone in the same period of time.
I am making food from scratch, don't use all my syns, can't exercise at the moment - but I don't know what lose I can do!
I have made a few errors with regard to fruit, assuming that some fruit (e.g. grapes, kiwi, pomegranate was speed when it isn't but I haven't gone mad with it anyway.
I usually have oats as my HEB and have skimmed milk as my HEA.
I am vegetarian so no meat or fish. I have had chips a few times and put potato in soups. Only had pasta once.
Can anyone make any suggestions please?
Lady who joined with me is one lb off her stone. She did say that she is doing loads more exercise and used to eat tons of unhealthy food, whereas I didn't, really; I used to have chocolate now and again though and crisps perhaps once a fortnight and plenty of butter.
I know not everyone loses fast but there is such an emphasis on losing large amounts ( slimmer of the week, biggest loser, going round the group and clapping losses, etc) that is it really making me wonder why I am bothering.

BasinHaircut · 23/03/2016 16:32

Thanks oriana yeah she is ok, just a broken finger. Doesn't make the wait any quicker though!

Today so far I'm on plan. Swapped my chic bar for crisps though so will probably go just over 10 syns for the day now. Hey, ho.

Looking forward to my dinner. Risotto, mmmm.

randomer · 23/03/2016 16:36

God thats disappointing flossy..but another 3 lb is half stone?

HolditFinger · 23/03/2016 16:40

I think I desperately need to join in with this thread!

I don't go to the meetings as I work in the evenings but have been (mostly) following the plan since Jan and have lost 16lb, but had a couple of weeks' break and stuffed my face with crap

EmilyK83 · 23/03/2016 17:51

Flossy - are you eating enough? And are you drinking enough water?

Our SW consultant also recommended mixing up your HexB choices if losses aren't as good as you want them to be...

Katenka · 23/03/2016 18:01

flossy how much does your friend have to lose. The less you have to lose the slower it will come off.

Kim82 · 23/03/2016 18:15

Evening everyone. I've managed to stay on track again today.

B - fruit

L - ryvita with cream cheese (3 syns), packet of crisps (5.5 syns), Greek muller light (0.5 syns)

D - gammon, pineapple, peas, egg

Sn - two oranges, an apple, strawberries, cherry tomatoes, 4 mikado sticks (2 syns)

I've not had any speed with my meals but have eaten plenty through the day and I went for a 2.5 hour walk with dd3 this morning too.

Gruffalosgrandma · 23/03/2016 18:46

Well I went. I weigh more than I thought.
I will read my books carefully and start tomorrow. Flossy , I think it's harder for veggies. Cheese counts high on syns and I rely on cheese a fair bit for protein and if you eat out choice is limited and tends to be cheese / fat heavy.

Drquin · 23/03/2016 18:54

I'm just heading off to weigh-in ....

I have a bag of clothes to take with me, our SW group has a FB closed group for clothes swap / sell .... I've not lost that much, but it is a regular clear-out.

emwithme · 23/03/2016 19:17

re rice/pasta: I have whatever the packet says is a portion (think it's 60g dry rice and 90g dry pasta or something like that), because if I don't, I eat LOADS.

Second day at work went well, but I really need to get something sorted for breakfast - might make some egg muffins up, as I cannot face cooking a proper brekkie at that time of day and don't want to use my B on cereal every day.

Today's food:

Breakfast: Weetabix (HEB) and milk (HEA), apple
Lunch: Tuna pasta salad, melon
Post-work snack: Apple, 2 x satsumas
Dinner: Chili con carne and rice.

Weigh in tomorrow morning, then straight to work, so I'm making some Iceland meatballs to have (by which I mean I put the oven on an hour ago and have literally just remembered...balls)

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 23/03/2016 19:58

I like the clothing idea. A way to have a good clear out.

Today I have been mega good.

Alpen Light bar
Banana
Couscous

L - Salad (lettuce, cucumber, chicken, onion, tbsp extra light mayo - 0.5 syns)

Apple

Dinner - Pasta bake made with pasta (obvs), lean mince, tomato puree, cottage cheese and various vegetables thrown in (carrot, leek, onion)

Also I got to work and there was a pack of Mini Eggs on my desk. Our team leader bought us all them. They weren't the small 6 syn packs, but the larger packs. I brought them home for DD2 (she got a smaller egg as she also got a Paw Patrol DVD for easter) I did have one though so thats another syn.

Going to have a hot chocolate later and thats 6 syns.

OrianaBanana · 23/03/2016 20:00

1.5 off this week! Pleased with that. Grin

KittyOShea · 23/03/2016 20:33

Lost 3.5. Am ecstatic Grin

Only 1/2 lb to go to my 3 and a half stone award

EmilyK83 · 23/03/2016 21:16

Well done Oriana and Kitty! Grin

calzone · 23/03/2016 21:23

3lbs off.
Am pleased but as I gained 3lbs last week, it's just the weight I had put on.....

Am going to change my target I think as I'm good at maintaining but don't think I can go under 11 stone.

OP posts:
maygirl · 23/03/2016 21:54

I'm similar Flossie, took me 6 months to lose a stone and see others doing it in a few weeks . It's hard, there is a lot of celebrating the big losers, I put something nice in the slimmer of the week basket knowing i will NEVER get it! I try not to think about it too much, this is how I will always have to eat, and I feel better in myself being in control of my eating and I am getting slimmer and will get to target one happy day!
0.5 on at weigh in due to meal out earlier in week.

You look great in the photos Calzone, maybe you are already at your happy weight!

maygirl · 23/03/2016 22:03

B heB grapenuts with a Muller and chopped apple
L homemade tomato soup
D after weigh in, homemade veg soup with noodles. Quick dinner as had parents evening for DC before WI
Bag Apple crisps bought for DD but she didn't like 3 syns . Having a wine now, 5 syns . Milk for HEA

BendydickCuminsnatch · 23/03/2016 22:10

Today was good... Until DS (10mo) was given an Easter egg!!!! I honestly cannot control myself, it's embarrassing and shameful and I don't mean that jokingly!!!l

Today was:
B: banana and egg pancakes with blueberries, some of the baby's plum and melon.
L: lentil soup and cheese on toast (HEXs)
S: kitkat 2 finger, 5.5 syns
D: mince beef hash from a SW cookbook, free

Plus Easter egg... Well it was one of those buttons chick things. Probably about 20 syns.

See it would have been a great day had it not been for the Easter chick!!!!! Angry

Wibblewobble100 · 23/03/2016 22:36

Hi all, I've been on holiday for two weeks and totally off plan, but by a miracle only gained 1 lb. Been doing SW since mid November and at current weight am 13 lb down so it's slow, but I do like the plan, the flexibility and I'm so much happier than I was in Nov.
Want to really get my head down and get the last 8.5 lb off by summer....
Today B banana grapes pear skyr natural yoghurt 1 tsp honey (1.5 syn)
L put lentils beetroot, tomatoes rocket, pepper, balsamic, feta (hexA)
D honey mustard chicken with cous cous and green veg (4 syn)
S melon boiled egg, wafer thin chicken wine 6 syn
