I'm an online member and WI on a Saturday morning, I relax a bit over the weekend but am strict mon - fri. It works for me, another 1/2 pound this week which takes me to 18 lb in 12 weeks, my target is 50 lb by Christmas.

Don't be disheartened with a small loss, celebrate them!!! Lot's of small losses turn into a big loss. I didn't get this size overnight it took years so I can't expect to lose it all in a few months (would be nice though) I have to be realistic and remember that slow and steady wins the race...................

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 19/03/2016 10:47

Those Pork Meatballs sounds nice randomer

I understand the science behind speed foods, but its hard when there's only a few I like. I think I will find it easier to cut back on Syns as much as I can and try to get some speed foods in where I can. I remember when I did SW a few years ago Mushy Peas, Baked Beans and Pineapple were speed foods, but they no longer are, they are just free. I like all them too.

So far Im doing well with concentrating on cutting the syns. There are plenty of free foods I like. As long as I dont eat for the sake of it and only eat when Im hungry I cant see that being too much of a problem. Maybe once Im a bit more into SW (and my cake/biscuit/chocolate craving dies down) I can then try to concentrate on more speed foods. One step at a time.

Lot's of small losses turn into a big loss
That's my attitude. I dont care if I lose 0.5lbs or 5lbs in a week - not that I will lose as much as 5 in one week as long as it goes down. Im aiming to get my 2 stone lost by Christmas. My first aim is 7lbs by my holidays in 10 weeks.

Congratulations on the new job emwithme Im currently looking for a new job, but not 100% certain I want to leave the job Im in.

Forgot to say that I like your relaxing a bit the odd day or two Cwtches I relax on a Saturday, but I also do Parkrun so a bit of body magic going on.

OrianaBanana · 19/03/2016 11:01

Agreed - I am going to have not so good days but as long as the overall trend is down I'm not so worried. I may be jealous of bigger losses but I'm not willing to do the work, so...! Smile

Today is another SP day

B - 2x Kingsmill crustless (2/3 HExB), butter and marmalade (4 syns), pear, clementine, coffee (HExA)
L - bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomatoes, apple, tea, last slice of Kingsmill and butter (2)
D - IKEA-style meatballs (4.5), wine (4), asparagus, carrots, cabbage
S - fruit

calzone · 19/03/2016 14:02

B.....banana

L....3 vegetarian sausages 1.5, beans, eggs and tomatoes

I am definitely not going to be having a good day today. It's my birthday! I am going to try and stick to plan foodwise. But drinks will be had later.

No breakfast today, by the time I'd faffed and fiddled around it was lunchtime. I had a SW/Iceland burger in a bun with bacon, cheese and salad. It was surprisingly nice. I'm going to make a SW chicken curry later with loads of speed veg added, with rice and a tomato, cucumber and onion salad.

emwithme · 19/03/2016 14:24

If you lose 1lb per week, every week, over a year that's 3 stone 10 lbs. I defy ANYONE to be unhappy with that. I'm a slow and steady loser (with a gain once a month...) and have lost 2 stone 2 lbs since joining at the end of June (I had hoped to lose that by October, when I was bridesmaid for my best friend). I was really disappointed with my losses, the last time I did SW five years ago, I lost 2 stone in 2 months, then another stone over the next 2 months. However, I then dicked about losing and gaining and losing and gaining the same half stone. This time, I'm not being as strict with myself, I'm accepting the gains when they happen (because life happens) and I'm just sticking to the plan 90% of the time.

I am now going to go and buy some new work trousers, because the ones I have in my wardrobe from when I was last at work are too big.

namechangedtoday15 · 19/03/2016 15:27

First challenge tomorrow - dinner at a friends house. Good friend but she is cooking for 2 families of 5 and don't feel I can put her out by asking for a SW friendly meal. Spending whole afternoon / evening there so can't do the "I'm not really hungry" or "I've already eaten". I don't want to look rude by not eating what she provides. Any tips?

Mummyme87 · 19/03/2016 16:23

Completely off the wagon right now. Arghhh must get back on

CwtchesAndCuddles · 19/03/2016 16:27

Take small amounts of the danger foods that you know would have a high syn value and try to have more veg. Depending on what is on offer, eat the filling and leave the batter / pastry / creamy sauce. Watch out for garlic bread / nan bread / try to steer clear of the naughty nibbles. Watch what you drink. as that can do a lot of damage!

Most importantly ENJOY everything that passes your lips, it's just one meal have a small amount and really savour it then resolve to get back on plan on Monday.

KittyOShea · 19/03/2016 16:42

Name changed it's 1 meal out of 21. My advice is enjoy it. You can make up for it by being on plan for the other 20!!

EmilyK83 · 19/03/2016 17:16

Happy birthday Heman!

Em - I agree - slow but steady makes it more likely that you'll keep it off, too, and reduces the risk of saggy skin - that's what I'm most worried about :-/

Not a v on-plan day for part of today - was dp's birthday yesterday so I treated him to a spa day today...

B - fruit

One skinny latte, one coffee with milk and a peppermint tea while at the spa

L - at the spa - club sandwich on brown bread with chips and mayo. I only ended up eating half the sandwich as it wasn't great - really dry. Took the fat off the bacon in the half I did eat, though! Counting the bread as my HexB...

D - planning a Mexican-style chicken pasta bake, with tomatoes, kidney beans, onions, peppers and seasoning. There will be cheese on the top, but I'm toying with the idea of only putting cheese on dp's half as I've already had milk today...

No syns tonight, because of lunch. May have fruit and yoghurt later if I fancy something sweet...

emwithme · 19/03/2016 17:38

Grin I have entirely skipped being a size 16 bottom! My current jeans etc are all size 18, they are a bit big but are OK. I have just been to buy new work trousers and the 16s fell off me, so I tried the 14s and they all fit...with enough room to sit down comfortably, so I now own three pairs of size 14 trousers and a pair of skinny jeans, three new tops and two new bras

DH is away this weekend playing soldiers supervising his Army Cadets on a shooting weekend so I am binge-watching Game of Thrones. Didn't get into it when it started, but caught a couple of the last season when DH wanted to watch it, so thought I should get up-to-date before the New Season Comes because winter is coming

Having SP days mainly, to counteract the fact that I am going for a hideously offplan lunch on Monday!

Today's food:

Brunch: Bacon, scrambled eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomato.
Snack: Lemon drizzle cake (2 syns' worth), apple, orange
Dinner: Salmon fillet, roasted mediterranean veggies.
HEA: Milk
HEB: Hifi bars.

AvaLeStrange · 19/03/2016 17:48

That's great em. I am very Envy but have no right to be as I fell off the wagon yesterday and am not doing much better today.

Also DH has been out and bought bloody tiger bread - how rude Shock Angry.

He is still giving me the cold shoulder - it's been going on to varying degrees since early Feb. Found half a packet to chocolate biscuits in DD's room this morning which she'd pilfered when it was a whole packet.

Feel like whatever way I turn it's going to be stressful & upsetting for everyone & potentially damaging for her. Am completely at a loss really.

randomer · 19/03/2016 18:46

great attitude " doc" me too....7 lbs permanent sustainable weight loss in a couple of months. re the patties/burgers......i like something with bite, hence my struggle with oats an such like!

randomer · 19/03/2016 18:49

name changed re friends meal....hopefully it will be a roast? quite SW friendly? just say you are cutting back a bit?

EmilyK83 · 19/03/2016 19:03

Namechanged - I agree with Kitty! It's one meal in the week, and SW is supposed to be a sustainable lifestyle rather than a diet - enjoy the meal, then get back on plan the next morning! Smile

calzone · 19/03/2016 19:56

Counting 5 Syns for dinner.

DH made a feast of Lebanese delights! Couscous and spicy chicken, babaganoush, salad. Yum. He also cooks everything SW style for me. ❤️❤️

Thanks all - you're right of course, put it into perspective! I've just got my motivated head on for once Smile

EmilyK83 · 19/03/2016 21:33

Question! How many syns do you think I should count for today's lunch? Club sandwich and chips - ate about 3/4 of the chips and half the sandwich as it was really dry! Took the fat off the bacon and counting one of the 1.5 slices of wholemeal as HexB...did have half one of those little pots of mayo with the chips though... There was mayo in the sandwich but no butter... See attached pic!

hello all. congratulations on the losses this week. & happy birthday to Heman. hope it was a good one.

started last week at 11.10.6 I think. anyways, today Im 11.9.2 so pleased with that.

not followed as closely as I should have but did manage 3, 5 & 3 mile runs this week. monthly came also so thats my reason for not total commitment. feel absolutely drained. went to family planning (nightmare getting into doctors) & gone back on the pill although not the combined one as Im now too old for that at 47. had a break for 5 months to see whats going on & monthlys are dreadful & too close together, plus gained half a stone in a month of stopping taking it :(

hoping for a 2lb loss this week as have a wedding end of month & want to be able to have a proper day off.

question for all please. dont go to sw so cant access website. a friend is on sw & its her birthday. wanted to make her a cheesecake type thing that will be sw friendly. do any of you have a recipe for something nice please.

thankyou. shell xx

EmilyK83 · 20/03/2016 12:39

Hi Johnson, good luck on your SW journey!

Afraid I can't help with the cheesecake, you could maybe do one with crushed Alpen Lights as the base, and a topping made of quark mixed with sweetener?

Late start for us today, so no breakfast. Rest of the day will be:

L - bread (HexB), cheese (HexA), ham, pickles, boiled egg, veggies

D - leftover chilli from the freezer with jacket potatoes and salad.

Probably a WW free yoghurt for dessert, maybe with some frozen fruit!

Kim82 · 20/03/2016 12:52

Hi everyone. I am 100% back on plan as from today as I have set myself a little interim target. It's my sister's 30th next month and she is planning a big night out so I want my weight to be down to 10st something by then. As long as the first number is a 10 then I don't care about the second number. I have 4 weeks to achieve this. Wish me luck!

Sp day today so my menu is:

B - alpen light bar (1st HeB) apple, Greek muller yoghurt (0.5 syns)

L - ryvita (2nd HeB) with scrambled egg

D - SW fry up - bacon, eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomato and beans

Sn - fruit, cucumber sticks.

HeA will be milk in cups of tea

ChessieFL · 20/03/2016 13:05

Johnson just google slimming world cheesecake and something will come up!
