Yes just make sure you have a third speed with each meal - see if you can get a piece of fruit in with breakfast?

You need a HExA too x

randomer · 18/03/2016 14:01

hex A is milk thanks

randomer · 18/03/2016 14:27

another question....is quark and cottage cheese worth buying.....can't stand cottage cheese buy maybe useful in cooking?

Katenka · 18/03/2016 15:17

I really admire those of you that do lots of speed days - I just can't get my head round them - so much faff differentiating between speed & free

I look up speed veg when I am doing my weekly shop list, which helps me.

Well don't sixpence

Random I can only have lactofree products, personally I find a lot of recipes have quark or cottage cheese in. So it possible to do SW without them, but may make trying SW recipes easier. Especially desserts.

Hay135 · 18/03/2016 16:29

Feeling happy I've been on plan all week so far just the weekend to get through which I always struggle more with.

Tea will be omelette with bacon
Snacks, melon, meringue 2 1/2 syns

I've made blueberry cheese cake from the Sw magazine so will have that later 4 1/2 syns

Need to stay motivated Hmm

randomer · 18/03/2016 16:58

cool are those iceland meals any good?

emwithme · 18/03/2016 17:07

The curries are OK, as far as frozen curry goes.

The meatballs are DELICIOUS cooked and chilled. The sausages are passable, but taste like cheap sausages. I like the burgers - but not as much as I like the venison ones from Asda (2 syns each). The ready meals are a bit insipid and watery but great in a push. The carrot & coriander and tomato & basil soups are nice but tis a bastard to get the breakaway bit of lid off to open them , not sure about pea & mint as I'm not sure about peas generally Grin

I was supposed to have friends visit today but they had car trouble so didn't. I passed my assessment last night Grin and found out that the provisional mark for my last assessment has been confirmed Grin so I'm 2/3 of the way through this year's course. I had a job interview this morning and HAVE GOT THE JOB Grin Grin Grin Wine and start next week.

Today's food - SP day:

Breakfast: Nope. Too nervous before interview
Early lunch: Giant salad with ham and cheese (HEA)
Mid-afternoon: Another giant salad with mackerel (eaten standing in the middle of the kitchen floor, trying to avoid sharing it with kittens). Apple.
Snack: Tub M&S mini lemon meringues (7 syns), hifi bars (HEB1)
Dinner: Prawn veggie stir fry
Snack: Hifi bars (HEB2)

randomer · 18/03/2016 17:36

mmmnot really fancying those meals.....what the hell is in cheap low fat sausages!!

OrianaBanana · 18/03/2016 18:12

For sausages I recommend the heck paprika ones. lovely and half a syn for two!!

Katenka · 18/03/2016 18:15

The heck chicken Sauages are great

The paprika ones are my favourite. The chicken italia are mic are are half syn each.

The other chicken ones are 1/2 syn for two

BasinHaircut · 18/03/2016 18:15

randomer I HATE cottage cheese but cannot abide by yoghurt in cooking so use quark. It's fine for cooking but I wouldn't eat it otherwise. I'm yet to try sweetening it though

BasinHaircut · 18/03/2016 18:17

I ended up in Iceland earlier, I don't usually go in there and I thought that the slimming world selection was absolutely vast! Will have to give some of them a try me thinks.

The frozen fish fillets were also v cheap, anyone know if they are any good?

calzone · 18/03/2016 19:18

Hi love Quark. It's so versatile in either sweet or savoury dishes.

Welcome to all the newbies and well done to the losers.

DR I agree with those who said you weren't eating enough. Add some cooked chicken or ham or a couple of HB eggs.

B......fruit and yoghurt
Banana
L....Quarmite with crudités
3 Ryvita HEB
D....delicious made up recipe of chicken with courgettes and aubergine, tomato sauce and SW chips and sprouts

Still got syns to have.

This weeks gone OK bar one massive fall of the wagon (oops) but feeling positive for a loss at this stage......BUT......its my hubbys birthday party tomorrow tapas, cocktails and lots of drinks.....any tips on minimising damage????

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 18/03/2016 19:55

I knew I was going to get the not eating enough response and Im not surprised. I thought so too.

Im also aware that bananas and beans aren't speed food, but its just what I had in. I cant really eat any more than an apple a day, it gets a bit tedious otherwise.

I have bought some eggs and some couscous today for the coming week. Suppose I could HB some eggs on a night and eat them for breakfast. I really dont fancy taking them into work and smelling the office out. I dont have time to sort much more out TBH. Id have an omelette every morning, but I get up at anytime between 5:30 and 6:30 as it is. So Im not sure about breakfast. Ive always put on weight when Ive eaten breakfast and lose it when I stop again.

I bought some Iceland stuff last week. Ive only had the meatballs and pasta RM and it was quite nice. I left the tomatoes as I dont like proper tomatoes (I say proper because its the texture - Im quite happy with tomato flavour products such pasata etc), but the rest was fine.

Ive also bought some cheese slices so I know I can have a slice a day for HEA. Bought more salad for my lunches too. Also apples and bananas again and Alpen lights for HEB.

I should really download the app so I could look round supermarket shopping. I will do that now ready for next week. Ive not been at it a week so it will take some getting used to as what is OK to eat in abundance and what should be avoided unless its a treat.

Katenka · 18/03/2016 20:05

Go through the speed foods list and look at everything you like.

Not eating the third speed food will slow the weight loss.

I don't eat breakfast at all, ever. You don't have to eat breakfast of its not for you. I feel ill all day when I have it.

I just have a good lunch and good dinner. Then snacks in between. I save my hifi /Alpen light bars until evening (HEB) to give me something to look forward to.

namechangedtoday15 · 18/03/2016 20:12

Dr Harleen if you want to have eggs for breakfast, I've done a couple of things - made egg mayo the night before (2 eggs with tsp of lightest mayo) and wrapped it like little parcels in wafer thin ham. Really nice and not too smelly.

Have also made a tortilla / omelette the night before with roasted veg etc then cut it into wedges and taken to work.

Good luck

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 18/03/2016 20:24

You don't have to eat breakfast of its not for you
Yeah I tend to graze from about 10AM, then lunch, afternoon snack and then my evening meal.

My grazing and snack has just been swapped from biscuits, crisps, cake to apple, banana, Alpen bars. My lunch has swapped from wraps and left overs to salad. Im also cutting out some bad food on my evening meals. So there have been changes for the better.

The speed foods I know I like: Apples, Pears, Plums, strawberries, carrots, cucumber, garlic, Leeks, Lettuce, Onions, Spring Onions.

The speed foods I know I dont like: Apricots, Clementines, Cranberries, Grapefruit, Lemons, Limes, Mandarins, Melon, Nectarines, Oranges, Rhubarb, Satsumas, Tangerines, Asparagus, Beetroot, Broccoli, Brussells, Cauliflower, Celery, Kale, Mushrooms, Peppers, Rocket, Runner Beans, Spinach, Swede, Tomatoes, Turnip.

The rest Im not sure about. I dont really like berries as such, they can be a bit tart for my liking. So there are more foods I dont like than do like.

emwithme · 18/03/2016 21:17

You could try making breakfast muffins or crustless quiche:

6 eggs
Tub cottage cheese
whatever veggies you want - I use onion, mushrooms, peppers, celery. Ham if you want it too.

Fry off the veggies until slightly softened (I use garlic frylight). Beat the eggs and add the tub of cottage cheese, and mix together with the veggies/ham/whatever.

Put into a silicon muffin tin - this makes 12 really good sized muffins and a tea-plate sized omelette and into the oven (180C Fan/200C/Gas 6) for 20 - 30 minutes or until they're slightly browned on top, then chill.

In other news...I GOT THE JOB! I start on Tuesday. Have been "officially" out of work for 18 months but haven't actually been in an office for 5 years (in a couple of weeks) because of ill health. Am much better now, which is why I've been looking for a job.

Now to think of lots of lovely lunch ideas that don't involve my HEB (because I love having hifi bars as an evening snack). I'm going to be the queen of pasta salad, I think.

Today's food - SP day:

Breakfast - nothing, too nervous for interview!
Early lunch: Ham and cheese (HEA) salad, apple, M&S mini lemon meringues (7 syns)
Tea: Mackerel salad (with a lot of beetroot I really should remember this when I go to the loo, gave myself a bit of a shock ), hifi bars (HEB1), orange
Dinner: Prawn stir fry
Snack: Hifi bars (HEB2)

KittyOShea · 18/03/2016 21:32

Congratulations Em. That's great news! When do you start?

maygirl · 18/03/2016 21:48

Yay Emwithme, well done!

Today B wholemeal toast heB, butter and marmalade 2 syns. Had run out of milk and eggs!
L lots of fruit whilst out all day, mix of speed and free
D spaghetti Bolognese with carrots courgettes and mushrooms. Parmesan half heA . Milk in coffees for other half when it arrived
1 Easter choc 2 syns .
Had a bad and stressful day and really felt the urge to stuff myself with food. Managed not to act on it though which is small victory!
Hope we all stay on those wagons this weekend!

randomer · 19/03/2016 09:30

dr harleen very early days for me but I tried pork meatballs with coriander this week. you could make patties and take for lunch with a wrap and salad?

i know what you mean about eggs....I'm not that keen on them.
As you say its a change of mindset really.

Not sure about the whole " speed " thing...these foods don't have any magical qualities....just few calories?

EmilyK83 · 19/03/2016 09:47

Speed foods have a low calorie density so SW advise that you fill up on them - hence having 1/3 plate speed foods at every meal and eating them first. No magic, just science! Smile
