Bendy, I buy stuff for the baby that I don't like or would rather not eat and that seems to do the trick for me

longlivetheking · 17/03/2016 20:34

Well done sleepless!

AvaLeStrange · 17/03/2016 20:50

Well done sleepless - that's a great loss!

Buttwing perhaps your stay in hospital with LO is catching up with you? It seems to quite often take 10-14 days for a bad patch to show on the scales.

I'm pretty certain the kitchen debacle was responsible for my maintain last week as I'd been on plan and had 2 speed days & loads of water immediately prior to WI.

Still a disappointing pita though. It really takes a while to get to grips with how the diet works with your body I think.

OrianaBanana · 17/03/2016 21:18

Yes I'm convinced a bad week shows most the week after. Must be extra on plan this week Confused

maygirl · 17/03/2016 21:23

sorry to hear that Buttwing, must be very frustrating. Weirdly I found I wasn't losing well when did lots of SP days. I don't really know why. Agree too with weight loss/gain taking 2 weeks to show up!

I used to do that too Bendy, in fact when I realised I spent a few days not making myself lunch, just eating DSs leftovers, and I lost a bit of weight and wasn't terribly hungry lol- realised I was preparing him far too big portions!
Could you prepare a free food snack box for yourself to nibble on? or just syn all the nibbles and work out how much over you are really going and cut back on your other syns? weigh a typical baby leftover bit of cheese so you know the syn value per bite, it might put you off when know the syn value before you eat it!
Today was
B porridge heB with banana and apple, half heA milk
1 hr gym followed by banana and apple
L salmon, baby corn, cucumber and tomato
Satsuma. taste of DSs school baking, guessing 4 syns
apple, melon, half heA cheese
D steak, celeriac chips, raw cabbage and carrot with lf mayo 1 syn
wine 13 syns Blush . over on 18 syns, but was under allowance on other days this week
could have been SP if hadn't had so many bananas!

EmilyK83 · 17/03/2016 21:41

Nicely done sleepless!

I do that Katenka - wear the same underwear for each week's progress pic too! Definitely seeing a big difference and it's spurring me on to keep going Grin

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 17/03/2016 21:51

Hi,

Can I Join?

Sorry Im not going to read all 900+ messages in this thread so just going to wave for now.

I started on Monday so in my first week and its hard. Im constantly hungry. I think though its more a craving. My body is saying you always eat biscuit/chocolate/whatever at this time so why are you not eating it now. Im hoping this will subside with time. As my body gets used to eating less crap and more fruit/veg it will adjust.

I must admit I am finding it hard though. Hoping on Monday my weight will have dropped so I can see that its worth it. Right now Im doubting it, but still trying.

HemanOrSheRa · 17/03/2016 22:22

Hi DrHarleen! You shouldn't be or feel you have to go hungry. Make sure you eat plenty of free food at meal times. Eat until you are full. I like to put a portion of a 'free' meal aside (like chilli) for a snack. It's OK to do that. If you are hungry between meals eat fruit, or make up free snacks to eat - syn free hummous, cooked chicken, ham, cottage cheese, veg sticks, gherkins/pickled onions, a bowl of free soup. Make sure you use your syns for treats.

I have to say though, my body goes into some sort of shock when I do SW. It starts looking for cake and chocolate! But the plan does work.

Katenka · 18/03/2016 05:36

DR you shouldn't be hungry.

If you are craving, use your Syns.

For the first couple of weeks I at loads of fruit between meals. I stuck to speed fruit and at quite a bit. After that I found my appetite decreased quite a bit.

Can you give a days food so we can have look? Smile

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 18/03/2016 06:03

Yesterday I had the following:
Alpen light bar (1/2 HEB)
Banana
Alpen light bar (1/2 HEB)
shortbread finger (5.5 Syns)
Salad (lettuce, cucumber, onion, ham tbsp extra light mayo - 0.5 syns)
Apple
Then for my evening meal I had 3 sausages and baked beans (6 syns)
I wasnt hungry again after that,
To drink I only drink water at work and I have a can of Pepsi Max on an evening. I wish I liked Tea and Coffee, but I dont. Ive tried to get into them, but I just cant.

Ive had days previous to this where I have eaten less, but the food has been crap (scones, biscuits etc) and not been as hungry.

Im finding it so hard. Going food shopping tonight so need to look at what I can get. Think I might have to get some eggs in and not sure what else. Im a really fussy eater and dont like a lot of stuff.

curren · 18/03/2016 06:29

Did you have your HEA?

I find having cheese at lunchtime really reduces my hunger in the afternoon.

Did you have your first Alpen bars as breakfast? With the banana?

If so you need a third of your meal to be speed foods, bananas aren't a speed.

I also believe that that baked beans are free but not a speed food, so you need to add some speed veg to your dinner.

Can you bulk out your meals? By adding more speed fruit or veg?

Apples are speed, can you snack in a few more of them?

curren · 18/03/2016 06:30

Also it may be worth spending some time look at recipes on the app or website to give you some ideas of meals you would eat and what to buy.

BasinHaircut · 18/03/2016 07:35

drharleen welcome! I don't think you are eating enough, and as curren says your only speed food was with lunch so you need to fix that.

To be honest I don't eat speed at breakfast, I just don't fancy fruit or veg at that time of the morning. But I'll have some mid morning instead to compensate.

I had a similar lunch to you the other day and it was totally unsatisfying and so I too felt hungry in the afternoon. Then I ate loads of things that I shouldn't have Blush

Try adding some cheese as HEXA to it and also some cous cous or similar. Mmmmm I really fancy a cheesy salad now so that's lunch sorted!

Right. So I'm back on plan today. Ended up having lunch out and a takeaway yesterday to round off the bad phase Blush

This morning I'm 11st 5lb 2oz. Probably some bloating from takeaway but I'm going to take that as my starting weight anyway as I am essentially starting again. New target is 10st 10lbs. But more importantly I just want to stick to the plan and this way of eating, which is just a healthy diet for the long term more than anything.

Also I need to do this for DH, who needs to lose another couple of stones ideally. He is starting again at 15st 5lbs.

Shopping will be here soon!

Today will look like this:
B - weetabix and milk HEXA&B
L - cheese and cous cous and big salad (4 syns for cheese)
D - not sure yet. Either steak and stir fry veg, or chick pea and cauliflower curry with rice
Sn - Apple, orange, miller light Greek 1/2 syn

OrianaBanana · 18/03/2016 07:58

basin my interim is 10st 10 too, it gets me into a 'normal' BMI for the first time in about ten years.

Today

B - so far nothing except coffee (HExA), maybe a hifi (HExB) and apple
L - mugshot, clementines, nectarine
D - hairy bikers Swedish meatballs with mash, asparagus and cabbage, maybe also baby corn - will be some syns, then I'll have as much white wine as I am allowed within syns (the bottle will be open...) Grin
S - banana, pear, hifi (other half of HExB)

Kim82 · 18/03/2016 08:28

Morning all. I have had two days completely off plan again, I seem to have lost my dieting mojo. My scales show no loss at all since weigh in on Monday. I'm determined to stick to it today though so have planned my meals. I'll be doing sp for the day:

B - alpen light bar (HeB), muller Greek yoghurt (0.5 syns), apple

L - bacon, egg, mushrooms, grilled tomato and beans

D - paprika chicken with peas, broccoli, cauliflower and sprouts

Snacks if needed: ryvita (2nd HeB) strawberries, orange, mikado sticks which are 0.5 syns each so I can have a few to satisfy any chocolate cravings.

HeA will be milk in cups of tea.

AvaLeStrange · 18/03/2016 08:59

I really admire those of you that do lots of speed days - I just can't get my head round them - so much faff differentiating between speed & free.

Also is it just me that smirks when people post about having lots of speed for dinner (childish)?! Grin

Busy & sociable day today.

B: HexB toast & marmite

L: Harvester - skinny rotisserie Chicken & salad

D: Jambalaya - not too bad apart from the chorizo. Can't promise there won't be guacamole & tortilla chips with it though!

Sixpencenonethericher · 18/03/2016 10:30

Morning I had my first weigh in and I lost 6 pound I was gobsmacked lol

KittyOShea · 18/03/2016 10:42

Morning all

Congrats sixpence that's fantastic!

Today so far

B- porridge, grapefruit, orange, 1 slice toast and butter (6 syns) coffees with sugar (2 syns)
L and D- yesterday's leftovers so should be no syns

That leaves me a few syns to play with. Attempting to put up a curtain rail this morning, I'm guessing that might use up a few calories and swear words

EmilyK83 · 18/03/2016 11:05

Well done sixpence! And hi DrHarleen!

Kim - try and avoid weighing yourself midweek if possible - scales fluctuate so much from day to day! Just stick to plan and wait for weigh day if possible - tough I know, but wondering if you may be putting yourself under too much pressure by doing it?

Dp's birthday today, but he didn't want to go out, so we're having a night in! He's asked me to make salted caramel millionaires shortbread instead of a birthday cake - it's going to be hard to resist!!

B - fruit

L - boiled eggs, salady bits, leftover asparagus that needs using up, chicken slices

D - nacho-style feast from the SW website - never tried it before, but looks amazing! Going to make a Mexican-style salad to go with it, with red cabbage, onion, carrot, radishes, chillies and coriander, and dressed with lime juice.

HexA will be the primula light with dinner, HexB will be one Alpen Light, one Hifi bar.

Going to go back to Alpen Lights rather than Hifi bars when this pack's run out, I think. Lower loss this week than last, and it's the first time I've tried using Hifi bars as my HexB...

Sixpencenonethericher · 18/03/2016 11:41

Thanks all still got 5 and half stone to go
Does anyone know how many syns people have at target weight ?

OrianaBanana · 18/03/2016 11:55

I think you still get 5-15 but more healthy extras. Possibly...

Sixpencenonethericher · 18/03/2016 12:11

Ah thanks

KittyOShea · 18/03/2016 12:22

Yes at target you get 2 flexible days. On the other days you get the same syns and an additional hexb I think.

tabulahrasa · 18/03/2016 12:30

They advise you to add in healthy extras rather than syns, but everyone works it differently, some people add syns some flexi days.

randomer · 18/03/2016 13:13

thanks for helpful replies re brekkie....I just jumped on here and didn't even say hello.
Is this ok pls.......slice wholemeal toast/Flora/marmalade for breakfast. That is a hex b and 4 syns?
lunch variations on salad/protein/muller light
evening meal....protein and carbs and veg e.g. chicken, rice ,veg
extras...fruit
think I'm on the right lines? I just need to get on a bit of a roll
