I've spotted another similarity between us fruitloop - we both have food in our usernames lol. Typical!
wombat i am going to try those tuna frittatas in the next few days. They look really tasty. Don't worry, i wont be going anywhere amy time soon. Ok so I only have a stone to lose but i want to keep that stone off me, stay motivated, perhaps offer a bit of support here and there. I'm sticking around Wink

CoconutAmericano · 21/11/2014 18:30

Ive just emailed someone called Una about a job wombat and then i see you put up "una frittatas". A good omen perhaps?!

CoconutAmericano · 21/11/2014 18:31

Fritters even Blush

CoconutAmericano · 21/11/2014 18:35

Loving the picture btw, i might started putting up the odd pic too, if something is particularly nice Smile. Good idea wombat
I decided on a chicken and bacon casserole for dinner in the end. It was very blah. Syn free but i dunno, just a bit watery and insipid. Not sure I'll bother with that again. I should have made the curry i fancied!! I've planted the seed now so I am making this tomorrow, that's it

Worryingwombat · 21/11/2014 19:41

I am on a curry mission too:)

Chicken and spinach tomorrow night :)

Pic's from mummy wombat again!! She signed up again on Tuesday so she is my recipe book!! She sends pics of the best and tasty :) as she lives quite a while away from me

Coconut, the food in your username is SW approved, very impressive! Sadly, mine is not!

We wont leave you wombat! Smile

Like the sound of the tuna fritters, i've already made my shopping list for this week, but they are going on the list next week.

I am pleased to say that I went to a party last night and I drove so there was no alcohol temptation (I didn't even have a sniff of anything!), plus I avoided all party food! There was finger food and chocolate and cakes etc and I had nothing- very proud of myself! Grin

Taking DS to a party this afternoon and going to resist temptation there too...I hope!

Worryingwombat · 22/11/2014 08:26

Well done for last night fruitloops I think I would fall head first in to some chocolate cake if I could!!

My DS 1 aged 7 has a party tomorrow hope to do a drop and run so I have no temptation!!

OP posts:
fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 22/11/2014 08:30

Sadly DS is only 2 (well in 6 weeks!), so we still have to stay for parties, argh! Temptation is not good! I've just filled up on a mushroom and cheese omelette for breakfast so hopefully that will stop me nibbling. Wink

CoconutAmericano · 22/11/2014 09:22

Good luck resisting the kiddies party food ladies. I was handed a slice of chocolate biscuit cake last week at dd1's party having resisted the choc bars, sweets and the most tempting of all - the Pringles Grin I was weak willed and demolished that feckin cake though!! Blush.

Today i have decided on sw Balti for dinner. I kinda have to know in advance what I'm making or else i get a bit weak lol

Vegetable balti.

Wash an aubergine, chop off the end and pierce skin several times. Grill for 15 mins turning regularly until skin has blackened. When it has cooled remove skin, peel and chop the flesh.
In the mean time spray a pan with spray oil and fry an onion till soft. Add 2 crushed garlic cloves, some fresh grated ginger, 1 tablespoon curry powder, 1 teaspoon garam masala and 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds. Dry fry for 2 mins. Add a tin of chopped tomatoes, 150 ml light coconut milk and 300 ml veg stock. Add two peeled and diced raw potatoes, some chopped butternut squash some chopped runner beans and the aubergine. Stir and simmer until cooked through. Add chopped fresh coriander to taste and seasoning. Serve with basmati rice. Serves 4. 2 syns a serving.

The above is divine. wombat i will be trying yours out too. Love a good curry.

oneowlgirl · 22/11/2014 13:32

Chicken dopiaza

2 heaped tbsp medium curry powder
1 tbsp garam masala
2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tsp ground cumin
2 large onions
Chicken breast
2 garlic cloves
3/4 pint chicken stock
Tin chopped tomatoes

Place spices in pan (using frylight) for a few mins then add the chopped onions. Cook for a few mins & then add chicken.

Cook chicken for c. 5 mins & then add stock & chopped tomatoes & bring to boil. Then simmer for c. 30 mins.

It's lovely & v simple! [according to the official recipe then you can add yoghurt at the end but I'm not a fan, so never do that].

Enjoy Grin

CoconutAmericano · 22/11/2014 20:47

Another delicious curry recommendation oneowl, thank you!

Well im about to (finally) tuck into my balti. It smells amazing. Can't wait. Twas a long demanding day with the kiddies. Had to have a sneaky glass of vino too for medicinal purposes you understand, but still within my syns i think.

I hope you're all having a good weekend Smile

CoconutAmericano · 22/11/2014 20:59

So good! Oh and i added some fresh spinach in at the end.

my 22.3 stone mission! :)
fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 22/11/2014 21:02

Argh i'm struggling today! I ate far too much dinner, it was all free food but I ate a disgusting amount. I have been mostly good today (aside from 2 maoam sweets from the kids party that DS went to- which were 5 syns), but I am really trying hard to resist going and eating a load of chocolate or biscuits. I just ate an apple, NOT the same!

Argh, sometimes this is HARD!

CoconutAmericano · 22/11/2014 21:08

Jesus 5 syns for two sweets Shock. look dont worry about the amount you ate. It was all free. I bloody gorge, gorge I tell you!! I ate like an absolute pig when i joined sw the first time round and lost 2 and 1/2 stone. Once it's free you are fine, promise! I managed to resist dh's white chocolate last night with a pink lady apple. It was no substitute!! But i did wake up feeling better for resisting so maybe you will too! It's hard though. The weak moments Sad

CoconutAmericano · 22/11/2014 21:10

Oh and are you dealing with tantrums yet? My two year old is in full swing. It's so hard not to reach for the choc and wine after a long day of meltdowns and/or whinging i know!!

MisForMumNotMaid · 22/11/2014 21:31

These are my sweet treats. Merringues. The ones in the left hand jar are homemade choc n orange and 1/2 syn each. The right hand jar is Tesco mini merringues and are 1 syn each.

They're very easy to make. 3 egg whites whisked till stiff, 90g sugar, 10g granulated sweetener, essence (1 tsp vanilla/ orange/ flavour to suit) bake on parchment and a tray at approx 100 for 2-3 hrs. Makes approx 75. They're about 1/4 syn at this stage and i've added a very thin brushed on coating of high coco chocolate which by melted total weight makes them less than 1/2 syn.

A whole jar of them without chocolate works out as 15 syns. (I can't fit one batch in a jar - but thats not a problem because the kids eat them straight out the oven).

my 22.3 stone mission! :)
CoconutAmericano · 22/11/2014 21:41

Wow, impressive collection misfor!! When you say orange, do you mean orange zest or juice or essence? They look so beautiful. I do love a storage jar display mind..

Raeray · 22/11/2014 21:56

I'm on my 3rd week of slimming world so am really pleased to have found this thread! Everyone is doing so well. Grin

MisForMumNotMaid · 22/11/2014 21:58

I use orange essence. DH and the DC prefer vanilla so I alternate.

I love my jars. I've got a tiny kitchen and have the end wall with really shallow shelves that hold all of my dried goods in jars. It keeps things easy to hand. I've varied the contents a little now I'm into slimming world. Lots more rice and about six different pastas.

I can't quite bare to get rid of my flour and sugar shelf though. I used to bake fresh bread and pastries every day. Now i just do fairy cakes and biscuits once or twice a week with the DC. No bread, occasional pizza. No fresh pasta either. Still i use all my eggs in other ways and I shouldn't be surprised that the weights creeped up over the years with me feeding everyone (in particular myself) at every opportunity.

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 22/11/2014 23:33

Oooh another similarity coconut, we both have 2yo's! YES, mine is fully in tantrum town, it's a nightmare! He genuinely had a full on meltdown last night because our dog was looking at him and for some reason he didn't want him to?! We have the gentlest (albeit very very large!), unintrusive, teddy bear of a dog, and DS couldn't deal with him just looking at him?! It was very odd! Today he had a tantrum because he put a shoe on my bed, and then decided he didn't want it there, but didn't want to take it off?! Not even sure what the answer was there!

Ooooh those meringues look delicious, I love meringues! May have to make some myself, yum yum yum.

Having said that, DS seems to have a sickness bug and has just projectile vomited all over his clean bed sheets (just as the other set are in the washing machine with the only mattress protector!), so I don't much fancy anything now after clearing up so much sick! Going to have to invest in a new mattress tomorrow I think, and pillow, sheets etc- clearly two sets of sheets and one mattress protector is not enough! Poor little thing Sad
