That sounds yummy coconut, I will definitely give that a go. It sounds like the sort of thing you could make in a large quantity and keep in the fridge for a few days for a quick lunch.

The salmon pilaf is really nice, I reckon it would be nice with chicken or other fish too, although the salmon works really well so no need to change it really I guess!

I'm making paprika pork tonight from the SW website, sounds yummy, i'm going to make it with parmenter (sp?!) potatoes. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

CoconutAmericano · 17/11/2014 18:02

Well i got the salmon in for the pilaf tomorrow Smile looking forward to making it and I'll have leek and potato soup for lunch.

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 17/11/2014 19:48

I hope you like it coconut!

I had the SW paprika pork tonight, it was yummy! Though we had unexpected guests for dinner so now there is none left for my lunch tomorrow, boo.

May have to make a salad...boring!

oneowlgirl · 17/11/2014 20:21

My spicy parsnip soup was lovely!
700g parsnips (or can substitute potatoes if don't like parsnips)
2 onions
2 garlic cloves
1 tbsp mild curry powder
1 tsp each of ground cumin; turmeric; coriander; ginger
1.1litre chicken stock
Salt & freshly ground pepper
Dash of Tabasco & pinch of cayenne pepper
Fry light

  1. dice the parsnips, chop the onions & crush the garlic. Fry onion in fry light until softened. Add the garlic& powdered spices & fry for a further 3mins (adding a little stock if mixture becomes too dry)
  2. add the parsnips & stock to the pan & bring to the boil. Turn down the heat & simmer gently for about an hour
  3. transfer food to food processor & season
  4. return soup to pan, add a dash of Tabasco (if you like it hot), reheat gently & garnish with a pinch of cayenne pepper

Enjoy Grin

I've also got some lovely chicken curry recipes if you're interested - I can post those another time.

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 18/11/2014 06:51

Yes please to the chicken curry recipe, I love curry!

colleysmill · 18/11/2014 07:32

Hello well done on your success so far!

I've just popped on because my ddad (who's done sw for a few years now) bought me the sw curry cook book and I can highly recommend it. I'm actually following a rival group plan Blush but cook the sw curries as they are fab.

colleysmill · 18/11/2014 07:34

Curry Heaven is the book I've got -forgot to mention that!!

CoconutAmericano · 18/11/2014 09:38

Well the salmon has gone into the freezer. The pilaf is on hold because ive been invited out to dinner tonight Grin. I am still feeling very positive so im confident i can choose my meal wisely Wink

Unfortunately i weighed myself this morning and i am exactly the same weight as i was last feckin week Sad. I "only" have a stone to lose but something tells me this will be a tough stone to shift. I am sticking to the programme though so it will come off. In it's own time apparently Hmm

Loving all the recipes btw! Looking forwad to making the leek and potato soup today. Must get a few parsnips in for the parsnip soup.

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 18/11/2014 13:20

coconut if it makes you feel any better, I also weighed myself this morning and I also weigh the same as last week Sad It's hard not to fall off the wagon when that happens, but we have to keep at it and we'll get there.

Oooh I may have to get that curry book at group, sounds good. I do love a curry! I'd live on rice if I could!

I've got SW beef and bean chilli tonight with SW potato wedges. The rest of my family will be having sour cream and cheese with theirs, but I will resist. I ate my lunch at 11:30 as I was starving and had run out of healthy snacks at work, so i'm going to be ravenous by dinner time! May have to eat an apple to keep me going.

Off swimming with my DS this afternoon...hoping it counts as body magic?!

CoconutAmericano · 18/11/2014 15:20

Well i can confirm the potato and leek soup was delicious. It's going into my repertoire!
Sorry you're not seeing it on the scales this week either fruitloop but we will, we will!! I am exactly 11 stone, right on the button. The needle will be to the left if that by thursday

oneowlgirl · 18/11/2014 17:39

DONT WEIGH AT HOME!!

Sorry to shout, but it does you no good at all - either it'll show a loss & then you might ease up, or it'll show a maintain or gain & will get you down & you'll risk going off plan as you'll think what's the point! The only scales to get on are those in group.

I use the curry heaven book a lot, as well as some other recipes from friends from group so will post one of those when I get a chance.

CoconutAmericano · 18/11/2014 18:02

Im not attending a class oneowl lol so i have to weigh at home BUT i told myself i would weigh myself on Monday mornings only so i cheated by hopping on the scales today. I'm an impatient lady, i want instant results Grin

oneowlgirl · 18/11/2014 18:53

Sorry Coconut Blush didn't realise!

Try hard to stick to once a week though - same scales, same time of day & same location in the house as otherwise it'll mess with your head & you'll go off plan!

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 18/11/2014 20:46

Sorry oneowlgirl Blush -You are totally right, weighing at home is daft, but I also need instant results so am too tempted to weigh and see what's going on!

Coconut I'm so jealous, I dream of being 11 stone- i'm now 12 stone 10.5, so a bit of a way to go. How much have you lost in total and how long has it taken?

I decided to make the SW chilli tomorrow as we've got people coming for dinner and thought it'd be better to make then instead. Tonight I made SW carbonara with smoked salmon and dill instead of bacon and chives. It was delicious. I tried to control my portion size and had it with a big salad though, so am now hungry again and want more pasta Sad

I have found a really nice free snack! If you cut melon in to small chunks and freeze it, it is really nice and refreshing to suck. I know melon is free anyway so technically you could eat as much as you want, but I love melon, so i'd eat a whole one if you let me! So this is a nice refreshing way to eat it, it almost tastes like sorbet!

Worryingwombat · 18/11/2014 22:13

Feeling really fed up with been fat today

Ate to plan and even walked 2 miles in 30mins on the treadmill today :)

But just don't feel like I have lost anything this week!?

I am fighting the urge to weigh myself after reading some of the comments above!

Now I would be due a period this week but I started the depo injection again last month and it stops my periods (thank god as they are super heavy and horrendous!!)

Maybe that's why I feel heavy and hungry!!!

< clings to any small hope>

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 19/11/2014 11:54

Don't worry wombat, i'm sure you will have lost more than you think Smile Even if you haven't then you will, some weeks are bound to be better than others, so ride it out and then next week will probably be a fab loss!

I am losing motivation today, I had a tiny breakfast and am now starving! Trying to hold out until at least 12 so I can have my lunch, but i've already eaten all of my fruit that I brought with me to get me through the afternoon at work- so once i've eaten lunch then that's it until I get home at 6...nooooo! Hungry hungry hungry!

CoconutAmericano · 19/11/2014 12:05

wombat the few days leading up to my period and the first day or two of it i try to give myself a bit of a break. Pmt is very real!! I feel heavy and crave sugar and carbs. It's hard! Don't be too hard on yourself. I finished mine last week, which is why I'm feeling really driven and focused this week. Im in the "good zone". I wont be quite so good in 3 weeks believe me!! At least pasta and slimming world chips are free, every little helps!

fruitloop i started in sw two years ago after my second baby. I lost all my baby weight (2 1/2 stone) with them, in 6 months. My start weight was 12 9 and i got down to 10 3. And kept it off for a year. Then it began creeping back on. I am now 11 stone and my clothes are absolutely beaten onto me!! I need to get back to 10 3 ish. I am 5'9" so ten stone is a nice comfortable size 12 for me. I know the plan, i know what works for me. I am doing this at home because my local meeting was a bit clicky. I was very overlooked i felt.

How much more weight have you to lose? What was your start weight? I think you can do this, you sound very positive and are trying different recipes which is the key i think. Relying on the same 4 meals every week you can end up getting bored of the plan. I am trying the pilaf tonight and am actually excited

CoconutAmericano · 19/11/2014 12:08

fruitloop do you have ant left over soup in your fridge at home? You could have a big bowl of soup to keep you going till your chilli and then eat a huge portion of chilli. It's prob a syn free chilli is it?

ChippingInAutumnLover · 19/11/2014 12:20

wombat. Different things work for different people. When I'm low carbing I have the bruises from falling off right now I weigh every day. I find it interesting to see the ups and downs. If I only went by a weekly weigh in sometimes I'd think nothing was happening, but as I weigh daily I can see the ups and downs and it shows me there's plenty happening. As long as the overall trend, over a few weeks is down the daily or weekly weight doesn't get to me.

Around my period I can put on quite a few pounds, but it doesn't go away again immediately, it takes a week or so, then goes. It's things like that, where you can see with a daily weigh in what's happening to your body.

For example last week your weight on Thursday might have been the lowest point of the whole week, this week the same weight might be the highest point of this week, but weighing weekly if it shows the same weight, it'll look like nothing has happened, when actually loads has :)

Also, body has lots of changes to make on the inside, sometimes you just have to let it get on with the, the weight on the scales will catch up.

I'm not going to knock plans with weekly meetings, they work for a lot of people, but they do put a lot of pressure on your weight going down each week, when actually, letting your body sort itself out is just fine.

Focus on how far you have come that you are now doing this, that is the amazing thing here, not how many pounds you lose each week xxx

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 19/11/2014 12:33

That's really good coconut, well done! I'd like to be a size 12, but realistically at 5'3, I think I need to be around 9 stone, so i've got a bit of a way to go yet unfortunately. I need to lose another 3 stone 10 in order to get to 9 stone. Oh well, slowly but surely i'll get there.

Unfortunately I don't have any soup with me, i'm at work Sad and by the time I get home then i'll start making the chilli. Yes it is thankfully syn free, and i'm saving my healthy A for 30g of cheese to put on top. Yummy! Good idea to make some soup to keep in the fridge though, especially if it's full of speed foods!

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 19/11/2014 12:39

As bizarre as this sounds I found that doing tape measurements each month helped as could see a loss especially the weeks where its only been .5 or 1ib loss. I done everything from my arms, bust, hips and thighs. It's also interesting to see where weight comes off first.
