Wombat, I am just glad you are OK after your seizure, that's all that matters.

DH might not even get a fine, just wait and see. Don't borrow trouble.

Now as for eating. It is not a big deal and today is another day. Leave it behind. If it happens again, just enjoy it as much as you can and get back on the wagon.

You have a lot of weight to lose (I'm not being mean! You know I do too!!) it isn't going to happen overnight and it's not going to be linear. It is going to go down down down up down up up down down down up down down. A lot. You aren't going to be able to stick strictly to SW for as long as it's going to take you to lose the weight - life will happen. Beating yourself up about it will not help and will just make it all very stressful.

Above all else, always - be kind to yourself

Worryingwombat · 23/11/2014 12:49

Aww thanks chipping :)

Your right new day new start!

And yes I am ok just very stressful yesterday! We will get fined as it was a speed camera and it flashed apparently :(

Oh well onwards I go!

Turkey dinner for tea tonight and we are off shopping to aldi now to compare prices as out food bill has gone up by £35 buying all fresh and meats so could do with the saving!!

ChippingInAutumnLover · 23/11/2014 13:17

Well, if you do get fined I would appeal it and explain what happened and where you stopped etc. Even if you don't get off, which you might well, it'll delay it until after Christmas!

Yes, buying fresh is definitely more expensive, no matter what anyone says!

How far away if your aldi? I find it is cheaper, but I don't find it lasts as well, so little an often I find is better. It also depends on what you are buying exactly, one of the low carbers gets brilliant brilliant cheap meat and fish at her Waitrose (ie pork fillet 25p!) but my Waitrose seem to think 15p off of something with it's sell by date that day is plenty discount. I shop in Waitrose because it's on my doorstep and I'm lazy, but overall I don't find there's much difference in price, but depends what you buy I suppose!

CoconutAmericano · 23/11/2014 15:25

Omg wombat you poor thing. How frightening for you both. I wouldn't give a damn what I ate after an episode like that. You are ok, shaken, but ok. That really is the main thing my dear. Sod the chips! Just get back on the wagon today. Yesterday is over. I think long term success is about getting back up on that wagon each and every time! It's not the falling off, everyone has their blow outs. It's the getting back on the next day is the difference between success and failure!

With regards to the speed cam, can you contact them in advance of the fine, explaining what happened?? They might just let you off! I would chance my arm!
I was also going to suggest shopping at Aldi! I do 80% of my shopping there, 15% in my local butchers ( they offer great daily specials) and the remaining 5% in the other supermarkets to get the bits I can't get in Aldi. Seriously have saved a fortune doing this. I am a sahm now so i have had to be quite strict with our budget but it means i can buy plenty of fresh unprocessed produce as possible. Plus i freeze loads. Milk, bread, peppers, herbs, fresh ginger, fresh garlic, chillies, all my meat and fish, left overs.. Nothing goes to waste in my house any more. I learned the hard way Blush

MisForMumNotMaid · 23/11/2014 19:24

Can i just ask if you're doing extra easy? Because a large deep fried portion of chips from the chip shop is 26 syns, standard is 17.5. If these were home done, were they really a bigger portion than a large chip shop portion? Or were they chip shop food? Just hoping for you you're being to hard on yourself. What ever its one day in a lifetime. One day is just that. Whats the slimming world saying...something like draw a line under it and back on plan.

I agree with everyone else about the speed thing, if you do get a fine appeal. I once got flashed and really kicked myself, i dreaded the post hitting the mat for about a month afterwards and nothing happened. Lets hope it was just a flash but nothing will come of it for you too.

I did find it more expensive to start with, already an Aldi shopper too. I have now started to find its costing less because I've priced up my meals and balanced them out a little so we have variety on our plates and to our purse.

Tonight we had mixed beans casserole and actifry wedges its about £1.50 (wedges 50p, mixed beans can 50p, chopped tomatos can 25p, onion, chilli powder, stock cube, garlic 25p). Its a cheap pretty much from the cupboard meal. Another cheap one is pasta Arrabbiata with the sauce made from passata 35p , onion, garlic, chilli, veg stock 25p .

With pasta its only 35p/ head if you use half a pack of Aldi spaghetti 20p/ pack.

The aldi frozen veg is good. I particularly rate the big bags of frozen beans 99p, and petit pois also 99p but they don't count as veg they're super speed but not super free. Both are great for bunging a handful in with a curry/ casserole or steaming quickly in a loosely lidded bowl in the microwave. Their big bags of fresh carrots and fresh broccoli are usually 49p (not part of the super six).

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 23/11/2014 20:17

Oh no poor you wombat, that sounds horrid Sad Don't you dare give the chips another thought, the main thing is that you're on plan most of the time, the odd blip is fine, and let's face it, you had a blody good reason! Hope you're feeling lots better now.

Well I have a recipe for you all, I think it is the most delicious one i've made yet! Aside from the pilaf which I really rate!

Campfire Stew Grin (slow cooker recipe)

Small piece of gammon with visible fat removed obvs!
2x orange peppers
1x red chilli
2x tins of baked beans
1x white onion
3x cloves of garlic
1tsp smoked paprika
6xtbsp tomato puree

Soak the gammon overnight in cold water to remove a lot of the salt. Chop all the ingredients (except the gammon), shove it all in the slow cooker and cook on medium for 9 hours (adjust accordingly if using low or high setting). Once cooked, break up the meat with two forks, and serve! Delicious! I served mine with SW wedges, but was going to do jackets (ran out of time and wedges are quicker!)

It was seriously delicious, and all FREE! I put some cheese on mine as I hadn't had my healthy extra a today, but it's just as nice without.

CoconutAmericano · 23/11/2014 20:23

fruitloop nice one! I was only thinking today that I do not use my slow cooker nearly enough. And the slow cooker meals i do make aren't terribly sw friendly. Ok so when you say gammon, i only know gammon steaks, like with a pineapple ring on top kind of gammon lol. Is there a gammon joint you buy for this? I wonder do Aldi do gammon joints hmm

CoconutAmericano · 23/11/2014 20:23

I suppose i could substitute pork chops..

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 23/11/2014 20:34

Aldi do indeed sell gammon as I got mine from there yesterday! It is basically a joint but with no bone in it. In a shrinkwrapped clear plastic packet.

My friend made this last week and waitrose delivered pork chops as a substitute for gammon, so you could definitely use those instead as she said it worked fine. Though the gammon was super delicious!

CoconutAmericano · 23/11/2014 20:37

Well i had a rummage in my chest freezer (best thing ever btw) and i found a few pork chops so they are defrosting for the morning cause i have everything else in, including the paprika!

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 23/11/2014 20:43

Ah yummy! You won't regret it, it is the nicest dinner ever. Can't wait for my lunch tomorrow! I hope it's nice cold because i've not got a microwave at work.

Worryingwombat · 23/11/2014 23:17

Thanks everyone :)

I have been fine today which is a relief as my seizures normally happen due to high temp or sometimes when I am about to become ill and then I have a bad few days :(

But I feel fine :) fingers crossed just a breakthrough seizure and my meds continue to do there job!

Ok your all making me hungry with the slow cooker talk!! I need one think a shopping trip is in order tomorrow!!

Any recommendations ??

Oh mis the chips were full in chip shop cooked!!! And not a large portion just normal but it felt like LOADS!!!!! LOL

Hubby is going to write and appeal the speeding if we get one can only tell the truth and see what they say

He is a very honest man and is kicking himself for speeding but he was panicked and lost watching me and calming the kids all while trying to get out of traffic and pull over!!

Poor hubby!!! He has had some beers tonight as a treat! :)

CoconutAmericano · 24/11/2014 09:55

Well my camp fire stew is on Smile. Myself and dd just sharing a home made smoothie now. Im not synning it. I didnt use a huge amont of fruit anyway and i only have two or three a week. Life's too short lol

Hope everyone has a good day.

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 24/11/2014 13:34

Glad to hear that you're feeling well today wombat. Definitely appeal the speeding ticket, they would have to be pretty heartless to ignore what happened. Surely it would amount to extenuating circumstances?

Coconut, you're not going to be disappointed with your stew! I just had a big bowl for lunch with some salad. So yummy! Tonight i'm making SW spaghetti carbonara.

I am making cakes with DS this afternoon as i've got the afternoon off...this will be the ultimate willpower test!

dynevoran · 24/11/2014 14:03

This came up on active and I'm so inspired by your progress wombat.

I have 20lb to lose to reach a decent weight and another 10 to reach ideal weight.

I started last month but found that my milk supply plummeted so have decided to eat healthily but more carbs and bigger portions until I stop breastfeeding. Then the diet will commence! Please continue to keep posting as I will need all the inspiration I can get!

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 24/11/2014 15:47

Uh oh...my willpower isn't as strong as I thought. I may have eaten two fairy cakes while baking with DS this afternoon...whoops. I'm not sure I even want to know how many syns that is! Icing has got to be terrible surely?!

I was doing so well so am now very cross with myself!

dexter73 · 24/11/2014 16:32

Iced fairy cakes are 4.5 each so not so bad!

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 24/11/2014 17:05

Oh that's not too bad then. I have had 6.5 syns already today, but I rarely have more than 5 usually, and that only adds up to 15.5, so not the end of the world, much better than I thought! Perhaps all is not lost! Grin

CoconutAmericano · 24/11/2014 18:50

I too am worried about the home baking side of things fruitloop! Dd1 loves to do some baking at the weekend. I havent baked with her for two weeks but i'll have to soon. I suppose 4 1/2 syns isn't too terrible for a fairy cake. I just hope i can stop at one Blush
The camp fire stew went down a treat btw! I served it with home made wedges so the whole meal was completely free and very very tasty Smile

CoconutAmericano · 24/11/2014 18:54

Oh and I've joined on a couple of fb sw pages as recommended by another poster on the thread below this. Very handy. One group, the lady has literally synned every food product and put them up with pics. Literally all supermarkets, all products. Amazing!

oneowlgirl · 24/11/2014 19:44

Glad everyone is doing well. I'm making parsnip soup again tonight so looking forward to that!

tabulahrasa · 24/11/2014 20:09

Baking...

1/2 syn chocolate brownies only, you only need 30g of sweetener, god only knows what the full amount would taste like, lol.

For cake/cupcakes.

It's 6 eggs separated, whisk the whites and add 9 tablespoons of sweetener. To the yolks add 50g of self raising flour and 2 tsp vanilla (or any other flavouring. Then combine them. That makes either two cakes or about 20 cupcakes and the whole mix is 9 syns.

If that's cupcakes you've got 11 syns of icing sugar/cocoa to make the cupcakes 1 syn each.

I've been experimenting with taking one egg away and adding beetroot to the half cocoa mix to make red velvet cake with quark icing, I haven't quite cracked it yet, but they've been edible as long as you don't use sweetener in the quark icing.

I've also done the cake mix in a loaf tin with lemon drizzle over it and cut it into 16 bits that are 1 syn each...as long as you only use 5 tsp of castor sugar in the drizzle it works.

Meringue made with sweetener is free, it doesn't crisp up, but it works for things like roulade where you want it to fold.

MisForMumNotMaid · 24/11/2014 22:13

Tabulaharasa i made the brownies with 60g coco and they were horrid. I had them at the group taster with icing and they were much better.

Someone else at group made the cake you mention with half flour, half cocoa, orange essence, as multiple layers with quark and orange segments. It was really, really good.

You mention using sweetner merringue as roulade. I wonder if i made the cake mix and spread it on a tray, topped with sweetener only meringue mix, then bake if i could then roll it up as a cake/ merringue roulade. The sticky meringue holding the roulade together and having a dessert/ dish that doesn't need precious fridge space. What do you think? The only thing I can't fathom is if the merringue would burn if cooked at sponge temperature.

tabulahrasa · 24/11/2014 22:29

"i made the brownies with 60g coco and they were horrid. I had them at the group taster with icing and they were much better."

Yeah I do the icing as well, and stick raspberries on top.

I honestly haven't got a clue what sponge and meringue would do together in the oven, lol...I mean, the sponge is mostly egg anyway? It might work. I just filled it with Greek yoghurt and fruit, it's soft and sticky, but it worked for a low syn pudding that wasn't cake (it had syns because I dusted it with icing sugar)
