And the pain continues...
Baby gone for first nap without dummy and only minor grumbling. Will it continue? I’m in the cusp of giving in....

@Utterly you're doing really well so try and keep going today. See how it goes. I don't have experience of taking a dummy away at this age so can't really offer advice but you've done well to do overnight and not give in so give it another shot.
I'm sat in Tesco car park crying into my coffee considering whether to ring the health visitor. She already thinks I'm going mad so not sure it would be wise today.

Seems like its getting a bit much for everyone at the moment. for all.

I even told DM & DH yesterday that it's so hard.. which is as close as I will come to admitting I need help! (I'm the most stubborn cow you ever would meet)

I can deal with the lack of sleep/night wakings because thankfully I only have the one DD (Hats off to those of you with more) but I'm struggling with the nap & feed fighting during the day. It breaks me every time I try to feed her & she turns away & screams it's horrific... or when I've finally got her to close her eyes for a nap then 5 minutes later she's wide awake again! So DH is going to extend the Easter weekend & help with her during the day for a bit.

Thanks for the new thread. Awful night last night with DS. He's full of cold and up every hour. So tired!

The swimming mums strike again. Really regretting my passing comment the other week that ds doesn't sleep well, I think I'll lie next time. Their dcs sleep well because the have a good and strict routine. We have a routine and I follow ds's cues for bed time (always between 7 and 8). Getting him to sleep isn't really a problem, getting him to stay asleep is.
I left feeling like they think I don't know what I'm doing. My ds is such a happy, cheeky, sociable little boy, and he's doing really well. I'm proud of him and I've done my best for him, so it upsets me that people see the fact he doesn't sleep as me failing. Perhaps I'm being a bit dramatic and over reacting, but they make me question all my opinions and my instincts, and make me worry that I am failing him.

Hope things start getting better for us all soon, it seems like more and more of us are really struggling.

frozen thanks. That's usually my reaction but sometimes I let it get to me, when really I don't care what they think or agree with them and hope any future children of theirs don't sleep to teach them a lesson

Dd1 was following a strict routine due to medication; slept through.
DD2 also on same strict routine and won’t sleep...
It’s nothing you do; just tell all of them of sod off. Your cutie is amazing and so are you!

Afternoon nap without dummy... she was upset to start with but I had run downstairs to deal with a delivery and by the time i came back to her room a few minutes later she was fast asleep!
Even better, she woke up in the middle of the nap with a little cry, I rushed to her room, and she gave a little wail (poor baby) and went back to sleep before I got there. Self settling? or just coincidence?
Last nap is in the buggy while I walk the dog, so that is dummy free normally anyway.
Fingers crossed for tonight. I hope its not as bad as last night.

@mummycuddlessolveeverything I agree with everyone else, fuck them. Like utterlyconfused DS1 slept beautifully, DS2 who is treated the same, really doesn't. All babies are different - I was so unaware of the horror that is sleep deprivation until DS2, now I think I should have been more sympathetic to my friends who did have sleep thieves, but at least I didn't say it was because of something I was doing/they weren't doing, I felt bad I had it easy.

After a tricky start to the night last night with DS2 needing settling every half hour, after his first feed he was actually very good with only two other feeds and went back down ok. DS1 had a better night too and they both slept til around 7 so I'm feeling refreshed today and have got loads done. I'm also having a cheeky lie down in bed while DS2 naps in his cot! He went down without too much yelling for once. I don't think he'll ever just settle but he's getting easier with practice.

Has anyone gone from feeding to sleep (breastfed) for naps to complete self soothing? I’m thinking of trying gradual retreat...anyone tried this? Did you give up if it didn’t work and try later. What if they just don’t go down for a nap??

Mine no longer feeds to sleep during the day but he kinda stopped that himself once he wasn't a newborn anymore. We didn't have a routine so he would sometimes feed then sleep and other times he would sleep then feed. He stopped falling asleep on the boob during the day quite young, so in a way it was frustrating that I had to then settle him with the dummy and rocking etc but I'm kinda glad now that we've got solid ways of settling him and now he self settles for naps (mostly!)

jellybaby I had got DS off feeding to sleep in the day and he would settle either in his cot or cuddling in the chair, by singing to him and white noise. I was working up to going to sleep in his cot all the time until this latest regression or whatever is happening. I used the Pantley pull off method.

Glad there is a new thread, I have been lurking the last few days but not posting. DS has been prescribed infant gaviscon so crossing everything for better sleep. I though he was too old for reflux to rear it's head!

Ok hairy start to the night....
DH did the dream feed. He is clearly tired (after his 8 hours of sleep) and was sighing away the whole time for being asked to help. But I was knackered after last night
I had told him that baby is using her blanket as a comfort toy now to help her sleep. What did he do after the dream feed? Take the blanket away because she looked too hot. Luckily she has managed to go back to sleep..,, if she hadn’t I really think I would have caved and given the dummy. I don’t understand why these LAH make our lives more difficult...

@lizzle that is an amazing cake considering the sleep deprivation! I don't think I'd manage that on a full nights sleep every night to be honest.. well done 👍🏼

It's drama central again here. I'm still knackered from last night (and the one before, and the one before...) and DS has struck again. Bang on 1030 with his meltdown. Settled finally after a bottle a while hour later whilst DH and I have had a blazing row.

Perfect. Bring on the next 6 hours.

Wake up 1 here. He went to sleep at 6.40 after a long afternoon with no nap since 1.15 😶 however he wouldn't be put in the cot until it was dark 🙄 so that was nearly 8!

Not a good night here after three ok nights. DS unsettled, thought he was going to wake ages befire he did as he kept thrashing about. So have not been able to sleep in between wakings. Head feels so heavy and I'm so tangry and very irritable. My boob still feels very tender after infected milk duct and it feels like DS is really gumming down on it. He's been showing so many teething signs that I wouldn't be surprised to see something appear soon....

Hi, can I creep in here? I have a non sleeping 6 month old and feel like I’m starting to crack... currently on second wake up of the night - she is feeding (fine) but will almost certainly take ages to settle afterwards. Hate to be pessimistic but this is what invariably happens until I give in and pull her into bed with us. Planning to hold out until 4am today - resolve needed!

We’re back home from our trip to Denmark and ds’ cot it up in our room but the transition isn’t going too well. He’s slept 57, 13 and 24 minutes and when he wakes he wants to feed but then falls asleep on the boob. I’ve now put my night top down in the cop for him to sleep on in the hope that it’ll help him sleep moor longer. I’m not sure it’s the cot to be honest as his sleep is a bit hit and miss anyway at the moment (ds is 4 1/2 months old)...

Tried to put him down tree times now and he wakes every time and cries, as soon as I pick him up he’s calm...
