Awake with newborn, anyone else? :)

My little boy is nine days old. He sleeps pretty well during the day but at night just wants to be held and breastfed. He doesn't settle in his moses basket at night (but he will quite often do so during the day)

Anyone else up doing the same?! I'm not keen on the idea of co-sleeping but would be grateful for any advice. Baby sleeps in a gro-snug and we have a dream sheep but I'm guessing this frequent feeding and love of cuddles in the night is probably just par for the course at this early stage? 😊 I am napping during the day so I'm probably averaging about 6 hrs sleep in a 24 hr period.

For those with Ewan. Which is you ‘go to’ leg?

HashtagTired · 09/11/2017 04:32

Mine is back left. Every time.

Jellybabie3 · 09/11/2017 04:37

Also back left Smile

Thanks hashtag im just so angry with dh!!

GimbleInTheWabe · 09/11/2017 04:57

There’s no Ewan in our house. I did download a noise app but DS seems totally non plussed to it. Although we do have an air purifier on pretty much all the time in the bedroom so maybe that does the job.

Does anyone else ever log a feed (I track my feeding with an app) and then have absolutely zero recollection of it?! I apparently fed DS at 3:45am but I don’t remember it at all and neither does my DP.. but it wouldn’t be logged if I didn’t feed.. so confused!

Lallypopstick · 09/11/2017 07:25

Nothing worse when you accidentally press the musical leg of Ewan rather than any of the white noise ones.

sleepycat13 · 09/11/2017 07:50

sounds like Ewan gets the thumbs up on here. has anyone tried myhummy? I haven't yet but my DM has ordered us one and am curious as haven't heard it mentioned much on here.

HashtagTired · 09/11/2017 08:08

@Lallypopstick 😂 we’ve all done it!

HashtagTired · 09/11/2017 08:10

@GimbleInTheWabe I use an app too. I would have no idea of feeding frequency if I didn’t log it! I do get the Hmmlook from other parents though, but I don’t care it’s my way of working it 🤷‍♀️

HashtagTired · 09/11/2017 08:11

@sleepycat13 no idea about that one. I’m sure it’s good though, they are all the same sort of thing.

Jellybabie3 · 09/11/2017 10:09

Aargh what a night...i mean it's day now right??

Ds has had TERRIBLE farts all night. Noticeably in pain. Gonna have to get some gripe water

Ohb0llocks · 09/11/2017 10:31

I’ve bought a Ewan!

Fingers crossed

GimbleInTheWabe · 09/11/2017 10:31

Sorry you had a bad night @Jellybabie3. How old is your LO? Just I think gripe water is for babies over a month because I tried to buy some but the pharmacist wouldn’t sell it to us as Dex was too young.

Jellybabie3 · 09/11/2017 10:34

He will be 5 weeks on Saturday so think thats OK? .

TOTALLY blaming dh for last night. Dog house....

Jellybabie3 · 09/11/2017 10:35

bollocks you will love him. Just dont press the musical leg.....😂

Jellybabie3 · 09/11/2017 10:36

Ewan makes me drowsy too Blush

NinaMarieP · 09/11/2017 11:14

I’ve got a white noise machine that plays all night. I liked the idea of Ewan until I realised how short the play time is.

HashtagTired · 09/11/2017 11:57

I’d totally recommend the back left leg. Works a treat for me and ds 👌
Oh, and I don’t have the glowy chest on.

HashtagTired · 09/11/2017 12:02

We are going to have to start a new thread soon, before we run out... just a heads up before it’s too late!

Jellybean2017 · 09/11/2017 12:18

Ooo is there a limit on posts?! What shall we call the new one?!

Still awake with a newborn.....

Jellybabie3 · 09/11/2017 13:12

I am armed with infacol. Pharmacist said its better than gripe water for bf babies.....?? Wish me and ds trumpety luck!

HashtagTired · 09/11/2017 14:23

Good luck Jellie.
Some people swear by infacol. Some people say it’s rubbish. Some people swear by gripe water, others don’t. It’s all a bit hocus pocus tbh. I was told that if using infacol it can take a few days to build up in the system and work, so make sure you persist in order to give it a good go.

You can try gripe water if infacol takes no effect.

Also colief might be something worth trying if you don’t get any success with the others. It’s quite expensive though.
It also depends what is causing the wind. Infacol and gripe water work on encouraging the bubbles to come up with burps. Colief is more about the digestive system and a reaction to lactose. I think. It’s just how i interpreted what the HV told me. Good luck!

HashtagTired · 09/11/2017 14:25

@Jellybean2017 yes. 1000 posts.

Still awake with newborn is apt. When we are close to 1k one of us should create it and post the link in here before the end. I’m not sure I know how to do that?

Thissameearth · 09/11/2017 15:37

I don't think anything actually works for wind 😖 But might get placebo effect 🤞
