Awake with newborn, anyone else? :)

My little boy is nine days old. He sleeps pretty well during the day but at night just wants to be held and breastfed. He doesn't settle in his moses basket at night (but he will quite often do so during the day)

Anyone else up doing the same?! I'm not keen on the idea of co-sleeping but would be grateful for any advice. Baby sleeps in a gro-snug and we have a dream sheep but I'm guessing this frequent feeding and love of cuddles in the night is probably just par for the course at this early stage? 😊 I am napping during the day so I'm probably averaging about 6 hrs sleep in a 24 hr period.

Up here. DS is 10 days old today and has never slept in his crib. I fecking exhausted.

Usually DP has him downstairs the first half of the night and just brings him for feeds but I asked him to come to bed tonight so we could try the crib/normal life. Alas it’s not working at all.

GinUnicorn · 07/11/2017 02:42

So tired. She's been up twice already after going down late :(

sleepycat13 · 07/11/2017 03:13

3rd feed of the night after a 10pm bedtime.
so glad not the only one up at this awful hour

Jellybabie3 · 07/11/2017 03:28

Second feed here since 10pm so not doing too bad....
Sorry mamarosie thats rough. My ds is the opposite though. At 4 weeks the more he sleeps in the day the more he sleeps at night!

GimbleInTheWabe · 07/11/2017 03:32

Another night of waking up to find DS in the bed next to me and no memory of him getting there, so scary. DP said he remembers bringing DS to bed at 12/1ish so I could feed him but I have no memory of this! So I either was half asleep or I did wake up and now just can’t remember. Either way it’s not good. Anyway he’s now been feeding for the past 25 mins in the side by side position so hopefully I’ll be able to get him in to his cot.

Thissameearth · 07/11/2017 03:39

Aww gimble you're knackered then. I woke up with my husband holding baby one night and asked if I'd dropped her. I hadn't. I also have thought periodically she's in bed when she isn't, that my husband is her (!) and can't remember my husband taking her from the crib and waking up beside empty crib. Baby is almost 4 weeks old and think (fingers crossed) I'm less like this. Scary for you though

Thissameearth · 07/11/2017 03:40

I'm so sore. Drained one boob and then went on the other. Was a little head bobbing jaw munching angry person as well - hmm yes I def want to offer you up my poor aching nipple now 😫. Asleep on my now though

Thissameearth · 07/11/2017 03:42

*asleep on my chest now

JustSaying99 · 07/11/2017 03:43

Another repeat of the previous three nights....so exhausted! He has slept for two hours and that was on DH chest on his tummy, seems he has now developed a dislike for sleeping on his back! Currently on the third feed on the night, despite a massive hour and a half feed from 9:30-11 in the hope it would knock him out for a few hours!

HashtagTired · 07/11/2017 03:49

He’s just donethe longest sleep between feeds at night in his whole little life! 3 hours and 50 minutes! Yay! I needed that 3 hours continuous sleep. Could do with another 3 hours but not going to push my luck. It was probably accidental he went for so long, almost double his normal wake up time.

sleepycat13 · 07/11/2017 04:02

Wahoo @HashtagTired that is great news. hopefully it's not just a one off for you.

I have had that feeling of not remembering doing things too. sleep deprivation for you!! agree it's pretty scary though

Jellybabie3 · 07/11/2017 06:52

Also doing a victory dance as this is feed 3 since 10pm whoop whoop. Pretty sure he only woke because of dh alarm too but thats ok. Gonna try and feed and sneek in another hour. Two good nights in a row from ds!! If you discount yesterday's leaky nappy which is hardly his fault......

AMagdalena · 07/11/2017 07:31

I think I broke DD after her jabs, too! That's when I started cosleeping I think she likes it too much now!

Well, she was a boob monster again last night despite drinking loads during the day, too.
I can't wait till she's 6 months. Hopefully she will sleep better in her own room where she can't smell me.

HashtagTired · 07/11/2017 07:34

After the 4 hour stint and feed, it was 1.5 hours after that. I’m just going with the flow!

We’re up now because I need to take my other daughter to breakfast club today and dh had to leave early for work (of all the days!).

Feeling fairly decent today though. Tired, yes, but I’ve had some rest. If it wasn’t for this cold I’d be feeling better.

Fingers crossed for another good night tonight all round!

HashtagTired · 07/11/2017 07:35

Nice one @Jellybabie3. Hope you have another good night tonight 🤞

Lovingtyrells · 07/11/2017 11:17

Up at 5am today and still won’t go down for a nap !!

GinUnicorn · 07/11/2017 13:10

Mine wanted to feed 2am to 6am :(

Lelly0503 · 07/11/2017 15:41

I’d had about 10 days of one night feed at 3am from going down at 10pm some of those days he was going to at least 5am! Was great however last night was back to newborn standards, up at 1,3,5,7 and very noisy/grunting in between. I play white noise that lasts an hour before it turns off and I kept getting woken with the white noise still playing, so barely scraped any solid sleep. My dp is gna take him this eve so I can try nap but it’s hard because your not always tired!!

NinaMarieP · 07/11/2017 18:57

I do the same @Thissameearth, put my baby in his snuzpod then wake up later and gripe around checking he’s not in beside me. I do then remember putting him down but at first I’m totally confused.

And similar here @Lelly0503. We had a blissful week of 8pm- anywhere between 2 and 4 and now we are back to waking up at 12 and 4 again.

On the plus side we’ve had epic naps after the 7/7.30 feed (but only if he’s in bed beside me which I can live with).

This morning I woke up again at 10.10 which was fab but I had to be out the house at 11.30 for my follow up with the physio. He slept til 10.30 allowing me a hurried shower and half my makeup.

Jellybabie3 · 07/11/2017 19:49

As i came into this late and to save me reading the whole thread how old are your babies? Mine is 1month today

NinaMarieP · 07/11/2017 19:56

Mine was 3 months yesterday.

AMagdalena · 07/11/2017 20:22

Mine is 14 weeks

Jellybean2017 · 07/11/2017 20:48

13 weeks here 😊

Ohb0llocks · 07/11/2017 21:23

I just want mine to actually go to sleep in his crib!

He’s only 10 days though. So he can be forgiven. That and he’s so feckin CUTE

GimbleInTheWabe · 07/11/2017 21:47

Dexter is Nearly a month (where has that time gone?!?)
