Just found this thread...have read through with interest! Think I am a week into the 4 month regression thing - dd is 16 weeks. She is a rubbish day time sleeper - has probably 3 naps of max 30 mins each, all of them on me or in pushchair...I'm scared to try and put her in her cot for naps as I don't want to confuse daytime and nighttime sleep. Am I expecting too much and the 3 short naps a day are actually ok?

flopsybunny45 · 06/01/2014 22:21

Gosh - my baby is not the only insomniac nutter out there!
I've had a god awful day... She's feeding really badly, thrashing about and screaming, so I tried her on formula tonight and she only took 20mls. So, in short, I would place a bet on tonight being truely hideous.
No poo, just wee here... Pamps baby dry lasted 4 hours last night before it was so full she woke (yet again) a 4am soaked and we had to do an entire change. But she's not feeding? Where is all this wee c

flopsybunny45 · 06/01/2014 22:22

Silly phone here too!!

... Coming from?!

Feel truely broken tonight!

marushka82 · 06/01/2014 23:01

Ladies, may I please join?
My DD is 5 months (23 weeks tomorrow) and EBF, I co-sleep as she just won't go down into her cot and co-sleeping is easier for me.
Anyway, for the last two weeks it's been a nightmare! She takes forever to go to sleep (we usually get her into her sleeping bag ready for feed around 8.30-9pm at the latest, after a routine of bath every other night, pjs, story book). I then feed her and she keeps falling asleep on my boob, sometimes sleeps for 20-30 mins stretches and wakes up. The longest stretch she'll do is 3 hours, although recently it's been 2.5 hours. Gah.
Then she starts moving her head from side to side, moaning and pulling legs up, sometimes feeding helps, sometimes dummy, sometimes I'm just up trying to get her to sleep. She's pretty much waking up every 1.5-2hours.
She used to be so good, sleeping for 4-5 hours, would half wake up, eat and go straight back to sleep. Now she eats, is quiet for 5 minutes (that's when I think she's asleep so make myself comfy, start falling asleep) and then starts moaning, squirming etc.
Argh.
Been to GP today to check for ear infection, but she's perfectly healthy. GP suggested combination of teething (DD drools like crazy!) and trapped wind/tummy issues. Gave her Calpol and Dentinox colic drops tonight and praying to get some sleep.
Phew, didn't expect to write such an essay! Keeping fingers crossed for you guys - hope you all get some much needed sleep!

marushka82 · 07/01/2014 00:11

She

marushka82 · 07/01/2014 00:14

Ugh, stupid phone. She just woke up, spat out the dummy and is eating again. She slept a whole 2 hours. I think the medicine I gave her didn't do anything... So frustrated.. when will this end?

lorenzo1984 · 07/01/2014 04:12

Marushka82 - very similar situation here. My DD was 4 months on Xmas Day. Before Christmas we had 1-2 wake ups a night where I'd feed her (EBF) and she'd fall fall straight back to sleep. Since Xmas we've been up every 1-2 hours! The first few times I feed her then she goes back down, but from about 3-4am she refuses breast (bites nipple that's how I know she's not hungry). Sometimes she'll go back down after a bit of comfort (rocking in arms) but usually end up cosleeping from 5am. I'm really hoping it's just the 4month sleep regression and that it will soon come to an end! We are spending most of our days lately trying to catch up on sleep.

cindyrella · 07/01/2014 04:26

cakebaby no it was our most horrendous night yet...3 hours to get to sleep at 10pm then awake from 2:30am. Thought i was going to have meltdown!!! She did have one at 5am...meltdown that is!

did you get test results?

Welcome to the newbies

cindyrella · 07/01/2014 04:28

lorenz ours started on xmas day too akthough my dd is only 3 months. Then three teeth popped thru on boxing day!

flopsybunny45 · 07/01/2014 07:43

Cindy - hideous night for us too... She wouldn't settle until 11pm once co sleeping... Woke at 1.30 and screamed and farted solidly for half an hour which seemed much longer... Then woke in a similar fashion three more times.
I couldn't console her. My nipples are burning and are from being tugged around in frustration!

cakebaby · 07/01/2014 08:35

Welcome new sleep deprived joiners!

Hi cakeis my ds (18 wks) would not survive now on 3 short naps, but did for a while. He now has an hr 90 after waking, 1.5-2hrs from about 12 & an hour about 4 ish before bed at 7. I was worried about confusing him but have started naps in bed/cot as I felt I needed to get some situational control back! It hasn't made things worse anyway!

flopsy Grin at half hr of farting, but appreciate NOT funny at the time.my ds also seems to have developed a trapped wind (bum end) issue, cue much leg waving & slamming down on cot.

marushka I think infacol etc have a cumulative effect so you have to use for a few days to see full results.

Lorenzo our LO are a week apart, we are in a very similar situation, sucks doesn't it?

cindy gahhh! You poor thing. 3 teeth already!!! I didn't know tyney just popped out like that! Did you know they were imminent?

We didn't get our results, have to ring again later today.

Hang in there ladies!

Gerty1002 · 07/01/2014 08:39

We had a fairly good night in terms of DS waking... just needed dummy popped back in and turned back onto side (wind and reflux) - his bottom however, had other ideas! Three diarrhoea nappies, poor mite was ratger grumpy at being woken to be changed! Of course this all changed at 5:30am when he had to be brought into our bed but that's standard now!

cakebaby the doc said blood in diarrhoea is normal and he's well hydrated etc so not too worried for the moment. Just exhausted!

Tiredemma · 07/01/2014 08:45

Ha- so much for a wish that 8oz would fix it!

awake at midnight ravenous!!

OP posts:
Cakeismymaster · 07/01/2014 08:51

Solidarity...had horrendous night here- longest stretch was1hr 20 mins average was up every hour..,feeding every time! No idea why she is so hungry, growth spurt or something? Bet she hardly feeds at all today now, I mean why would you when you've ate all night!?!
For someone who mentioned soaked nappies - I have same problem with pampers 'dry' but have found sainsburys own brand dry (blue packs)really good - i only do one change around 1am ish.

Gerty1002 · 07/01/2014 08:54

My DS has been draining his 10oz midnight bottle, wonder if giving him 11 would stop the 5am wake ups... probably not mind as this morning he was more interested in postman pat than his bottle at 7am!

Tiredemma · 07/01/2014 09:01

Agree with poster re Sainsburys nappies.

OP posts:
flopsybunny45 · 07/01/2014 09:24

Thanks re nappies... Will try!
Wondering if she has a wee infection.
We are also using pampers newborn and she often has a tiny bit of wee in them - tiny bits of green line - and already wants a change. If it didn't have the indicator then we wouldn't know she'd done a wee. On nappy 4 since 6am. Surprising given she hasn't fed longer than 5 mins or so!

MostlyCake · 07/01/2014 09:24

My ds seems to be teething so up 3x before midnight, noisy but not awake at 2ish (I got up and got ready to feed but when I was ready he was asleep again) properly up at 3ish for a change and long feed then up at 7.30ish.

Not as bad as some of the posters but he had been sleeping really well so this is very hard to get used to again!

marushka82 · 07/01/2014 10:21

I'll try and persist with Dentinox and see how I go!
Last night wasn't that bad, I am never awake enough to look at the time but I think DD was up at 12, 2, 4, 6 and finally woke up at 8.20. I tried bicycling her legs when she pulls them up and sure enough if I perservere she farts and then goes back to sleep :)
I'm just wondering what's making her so farty all of a sudden. I certainly haven't changed my diet in the last two weeks!

Cakeismymaster · 07/01/2014 12:08

Like how there is lots of cake based names here!
Had one small nap so far today but zero interest in feeding as yet...great

Tiredemma · 07/01/2014 12:12

DD has already had 2 x 5oz bottles so far today (on top of the one in the night)

She is growling for the bottle and chewing away at her fists.

And she has only slept for 20 mins.

OP posts:
Gerty1002 · 07/01/2014 13:34

tiredemma If it makes you feel better my DS has had 2x 10oz bottles! 98th centile and v hungry.

He's on his second nap of the day, though the second half of it is currently being had on my chest/tummy/almost entire body ha, as he did an awfully sad cry in his pram as if he was utterly miserable :(.

flopsy That does sound odd, maybe ring your health visitor for advice?

Cakeismymaster · 07/01/2014 14:55

So she finally had a reasonable feed around 1pm...and has now been asleep on my lap since then! Don't know if that is a good or bad thing...

Gerty1002 · 07/01/2014 17:00

DS is currently napping... in his cot!!!! I've been endlessly rocking the pram for the past few weeks and thought I'd give it a go. hurrah! Mind I still had to rock him to almost asleep and he's only been there half an hour so far, but it's definitely progress!

flopsybunny45 · 07/01/2014 17:32

Well done Gerty!! We are finally seeing a paediatrician on thurs. Cannot wait.
There seems to be two types of babe on here: the hungry and the apparently I don't give a fk about food ones like my dd!!
Cakeis - do you have one of these???
