gerty brilliant post, shows exactly all the conflicting advice and how confused it makes us!
juvenilesuccess yes I would say he's slept longer up in his cot. I try to stay at home after lunch to settle him for longer pm nap. It's true I've become a prisoner in my house but only chance to nap! :)
cakebaby that sounds like an awful night :( sending hugs. As the post above says I don't think we can have routine and self settling baby all at once. I tried controlled crying during Xmas break as hubby was home. Yes we were only up once or twice but it lasted hours! Now I'm up around 5 times a night but quick to settle. After first wake up he's in bed with me.
flopsybunnysending hugs to you too. It's soo hard to be awake and function at that time of night. Hope you get thru the day ok.
Thank god for on demand tv, it's all that's kept me sane!

cakebaby · 09/01/2014 08:35

Sorry flopsy you must be shattered Brew . Hope your appt goes well.

Cakeismymaster · 09/01/2014 08:47

Hello fellow zombies...
It went like this...bed at 7.30, up at 9.30, 11, 12, 1.30, 3,30, 6,30 then get up at 7.30
Every single time had to feed to sleep arrrrgggghhhhh
And injections today!!
Actually going to kill DH as he has the most annoying cough ever and woke her at least once with it.
I just cannot believe the sleep has got bad from previously being good...my ds1 was off the scale bad sleeper until he was 13 MONTHS and I had to do cc...(blocks memory out)!

cindyrella · 09/01/2014 08:55

Awe flopsy my heat goes out to you.

We had ok night. 3 wake ups & awake b/w 4:30 & 5:30 which as flopsy has proven could be worse!

robbo sorry to keep asking q's but am curious...at beginning of getting to nap in cot, what sid u do when yr ds didnt? Did you give up on nap altogether or try something ekse? I so want to be where you are with that!

abby81 · 09/01/2014 09:05

So apparently I now feed to sleep for naps too. Never usually do, hopefully just coincidence that she was hungry and tired at the same time???? I am now stuck on the sofa with dd on boob asleep. Bloody hell i am too far away from the remote too!!?? Terrible dilema: to move to cot or not????

JRmumma · 09/01/2014 09:08

Morning ladies. I almost didn't post again as we had a fantastic night (he went to bed at 10:45, woke for food at 4am then slept till 7) but I'm not taking it for granted and assuming it was a fluke for now.

We did put him in a new, bigger sleeping bag last night though so maybe he was getting a bit big for the old one and it was restricting him and waking him up?

cindyrella · 09/01/2014 10:09

Haha abby had same problem last night with tub of ben n jerrys!

Tiredemma · 09/01/2014 10:10

5 x again last night.

When I woke at 4am I had also developed a headache, earache and painful throat.

I look and feel like shit again today.

Im not leaving the house.

tired Brew for you

robbo76 · 09/01/2014 11:41

cindyrella before cot naps, it would be sleeps in pram or out & about. Think I began to pick up more on his tired cues and start to settle him down before the point of bf to settle. That's when out of desperation I randomly tried the light/lullaby toy and it worked well and almost instantly. I'm hoping eventually it'll impact on his overnight sleep which is still a big problem!

How old is,your DD? How often does she kip in the day? Xx

flopsybunny45 · 09/01/2014 12:24

Oh ladies... I read each of your how many wake ups so wishfully... Dd was awake from 11pm until 4am at which point I was a crying mess and dh took over.
Peadr app today thank god.
If we have 5/6 wake ups I will be a happy bunny!!
It reached the point where I'm reading the miscarriage thread to help me realise how bloody lucky I am to have a wakeful babe! Sad

flopsybunny45 · 09/01/2014 12:28

Ladies - I am so tired that I didn't mean to post tr same message again!!!
Thank you for all your wishes.
Every night I think it cannot get worse but we still sinker lower Confused.
One upside - after only four hours at night, she is napping well today Wink.

marushka82 · 09/01/2014 13:42

Hey fellow zombie mamas, I really feel for you! I'm currently freezing my butt off with DD in the pushchair to make sure she gets at least an hour of sleep. Last night she was up 3 times between 9pm and midnight, I fed her to sleep each time and must have finally gone to sleep but not sure how and when. Multiple wake ups but I'm too zonked out to check time!
I always bf to sleep both at nighttime and for naps, then if DD starts nibbling I delatch her and give her dummy. White noise, ssshhhing and dummy onus gentle hair stroking for naps.
I decided not to read anymore stupid books because reading about putting baby in cot drowsy but awake, aiming for baby to have 14 hrs of sleep, etc etc just frustrate me and make me feel like a failure...

Interesting, that for most of us problems started at Christmas!

marushka82 · 09/01/2014 13:43

And, not onus. Stupid phone!

cindyrella · 09/01/2014 16:17

robbo she is 16 weeks tomorrow. Only napped in sling until this week & today she's had her third day in a row falling asleep in pram without a meltdown!
I am playing her the lullaby on ewan dream sheep eveytime she naps or sleeps in sling or pram so she starts to associate him with sleep then next week we try cot!

cindyrella · 09/01/2014 16:28

marushka i know what u mean. So much advice, all of it conflicting & designed to make u feel like a failure & because you dont know which advice to chose, you end up trying them all, giving up after one try & so never succeeding because yr poor dc has no time to get used to this new trick yr trying!

Then u feel like a shit mum.

On a side note, dp has been hunting in the living room for a smell. Accusing me of leaving food somewhere or not cleaning sick up properly befire realising it was his own feet! Baahahhahahaha!

cindyrella it's amazing what changes they make in few days & weeks, keep at it. Im defo one for repeating same routine so she will get there.
I am back to work tomorrow, 12 hour shift, probs won't sleep for nerves!

My boss reckons I've lost too much weight breast feeding and says my milk prob not strong enough to satisfy him. So with her advice I've given DS some weetabix and formula. He enjoyed it, will see if it helps....

Cakeismymaster · 09/01/2014 18:48

So we had a short nap, medium nap and a long nap today all totalling about 3 hrs. So let's see if it makes any difference to tonight! She also fed more today and had a whole 1 oz of formula in our bottle trying session this aft.
Currently putting to bed now..

JRmumma · 09/01/2014 19:11

DS resisted a nap all afternoon and fell asleep an hour ago and is still snoozing! Not going to be an early night for me tonight then. Oh well.....

cakebaby · 09/01/2014 19:47

Quick advice needed ds on 3rd wake in 90 mins. Trying so hard not to feed to sleep, he's wriggling and crying it's heartbreaking. Feed or not? How long do I let this carry on! I'm next to him shushing and hand holding

Tiredemma · 09/01/2014 19:55

cakebaby- I think if you feed him it will encourage him to continue waking. Can you try him with a bit of water instead?

cakebaby · 09/01/2014 19:59

He won't take it

robbo76 · 09/01/2014 20:14

cakebaby sounds like tummy pain? Any remedies in the house?

robbo76 · 09/01/2014 20:16

My DS has been bad past few days with constipation, took 2 attempts for him to squeeze out a hard poo. Poor man :(
