Here we are. Sleep deprived, emotional and craving all things sugary just to survive the day.

Flopsy - I have both depending on how the mood takes her! Yesterday and last night she decided she must feed every 2 hours at least, today since 7am she's had 1 ok feed and 2 what can only be called 'snacks' !
I suspect she's one of these reverse babies who do night feeding in the day and day feeding in the night...good for getting out in the day as I don't have to do lots of feed stops but bad news for sleep at night...

cindyrella · 07/01/2014 18:58

gerty well done you! I am trying to get dd to sleep out of my sling this week. Today we managed half hoir in pram. A huge deal as pram is ususlly met with a screaming match.
cakebaby no i had no idea teeth were on the way. My mum kept telling me she was going to teeth soon & then boxing day there they were...two top & one bottom. Xmas day was so bad i nearly took her to emergency. Hate when mum is right! ;)
Test results thru yet?

cakebaby · 07/01/2014 19:56

Hi cindy test results through, all normal, so just a bog standard viral infection which thankfully seems to be running out of steam, we are on day 18 today. Ds has permanently got something in his mouth, chewing away, dribbling etc, not sure if just developmental or teeth on the way. I wondered if you knew they were there, could see anything etc and how long they took to come through and you've answered my questions!

Well done Gerty we're working on naps, co napping at the moment as dh doesn't do any night stuff and i'm broken after the last 3 wks shenanigans. Managing an hr in the morning, 2 hrs lunchtime & half hour ish about 430. Have been transferring into cot but he wakes much sooner. We'll keep at it though. Hope your ds is feeling a bit better today.

cakeis at about 14 wks my ds suddenly became a super efficient feeder. He went from taking an hour to feed to literally 5 or 6 mins and he was done. It was quite alarming at first and i was worried he wasn't getting enough but one morning I was engorged to bursting point (sorry tmi) and he deflated me in minutes. At his next weigh in, he had gained 1.5 lbs in 4 weeks. Its evened out now though.

Trying to put a stop to feeding to sleep again, we conquered this about 6 wks ago and went back to it during the d&v.

robbo76 · 07/01/2014 20:15

cindyrella been few days since I've been on here, thanks for your chat.
How's things going your end? Do you get any sleep in the day? It's a complete nightmare, beginning to take a strain on family life. Never had so many arguments/niggles with hubby! Didn't sleep on sofa the other night just wanted my bed! Hourly weakening continues...return to work on Friday, 12 hour shift, the joys!

Gerty1002 · 07/01/2014 20:31

Ds napped for a full hour in the cot :). Only half rocked to sleep tonight too... I've been so tired lately I've not had the patience to shhh, pat, hair stroke etc for ages, but successful nap time spurred me on :).

I hope you all have an ok night tonight and I pray I have less poop to deal with!

Gerty1002 · 07/01/2014 20:32

PS cakebaby I tried conapping this afternoon but a vomiting session meant my bed was soaked. Hence cot nap... pure fluke haha.

cakebaby · 07/01/2014 20:50

Hi robbo sorry to hear things are no better with your ds. We have limited space too & dh works shifts so its a complete nightmare especially when they're both napping in adjacent rooms. Is it is growth spurt do you think? Good luck for Friday Smile

Gerty you poor thing, that happened to me on Xmas eve. I cried Blush

robbo76 · 08/01/2014 06:25

cakebaby it might be growth spurt, his appetite is pretty good just now.
Yeah my dh also works shifts, nightshirt just now so feel I'm creeping round all day! Last night was slightly better. 11:30, then hourly from 3:30.
Feel like by the time this resolves us mums will be left with sleep issues!
Reassuring to know not the only one going through it

Juvenilesuccess · 08/01/2014 07:20

May I join?

DD is nearly 5 months and I think we must be in the sleep regression. I'm another co-sleeper and breastfeed to sleep mum (maybe this is my comeuppance!). An hour at a time is normal although sometimes less (and if I'm lucky two). It's the waking before midnight which make my heart sink - I hate waking from a deep sleep only for it to be 10.30 and realise I've got the whole night to go!!

Cindy - she wouldn't go in the pram (we used the sling a lot) but she suddenly took to it a few weeks ago and now has a lot of her naps in it.

Gerty1002 · 08/01/2014 07:49

I know what you mean, robbo, DS was really good last night except for a couple of poos, but I kept waking up and struggling to get back to sleep!

cakebaby · 08/01/2014 08:04

Hi juvenile and welcome! Pre midnight wakings are the most soul destroying I think. Morning seems such a long time away!

robbo my DH night shifts starts tonight, not that he does any night wakings anyway! It's so hard not seeing an end to it!

gerty hope ds is a bit better today?

My ds took AGES to settle at wakings last night. First time ever, hope this isn't his new thing....

robbo76 · 08/01/2014 08:09

Something for the teething babies to try: Anbesol can get it in gel or liquid form. I also give combo of Calpol & Ibuprofen at bedtime.
Juvenilesuccess yeah I'm with you there, I'd love a stretch of maybe 3 hours sleep before 1st wakening. Getting to point every night you just know its going to be a long night...

Tiredemma · 08/01/2014 08:42

God I feel like utter shit today.

5x last night- which doesnt sound a lot but once I dropped back off to sleep each time, I was then woken up again.

Have a stinking headache.

Gerty1002 · 08/01/2014 09:19

cakebaby He does seem a bit better thanks, though still had two explosive nappies through the night, but the number is gradually reducing thankfully! Hopefully last night was a one off and your LO isn't going to take forever to settle forever :).

Gerty1002 · 08/01/2014 09:20

Tiredemma you have my sympathy. Tea and cake - Gerty's orders.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 08/01/2014 09:29

Hello all :)

DS was 2 weeks late, born 15 September, and has gone from 10 hours per night, to waking a few times. We don't co-sleep, but thankfully he goes back after each feed.

To those blaming themselves for co-sleeping / feeding to sleep - please don't. Some babies just seem to need this. My DD is now 10, and she was an absolute nightmare sleeper. I didn't notice the sleep regression as she never slept to begin with! Ds1 was a bit better, but not much.

DS2 is being parented in exactly the same way, but sleeps wonderfully in comparison, even lets dh put him to bed.

I honestly believe you get the baby you're given, and do what it takes to get through the day. Be kind to yourselves.

Tiredemma · 08/01/2014 09:46

I know deep down it will get better (just worries me when this will happen)

MY very first ever post on Mnet was over 10 years ago and was a plea regarding a non sleeping 4 month old! (hence the nickname)

Here I am again- 4 months in 10 years later.

(ds2 actually didnt sleep until he was 3 years old- but we wont focus on that too much......)

mynameisnotmichealcaine what a great message, think we are all beating ourselves up.
tiredmama I agree, tea and cake all day, seems to be my staple diet at the moment!
Feel there is a little progress with my DS, 4 hours, quick feed, 4 hours then 3x hourly until 6:30. He's off to nursery for 2 hour visit so just back from a lovely walk with the dog and cleared my head. Ok so that's the dog happy, how to make it up to hubby :)

cakebaby · 08/01/2014 12:29
Shock

Shhhhh, ds napping in cot......alone......first time ever....

I'm trapped in room, don't dare move for fear of waking him!

cakebaby · 08/01/2014 12:30

However I may have to go downstairs and kill DH if he doesn't turn that feckin iPod DOWN arrggghh!

cakebaby · 08/01/2014 12:33

mynameis yep, liking 'you get what you're given' !

Sorry for repeat posting... On phone

lorenzo1984 · 08/01/2014 12:41

Thanks everyone for the welcome!

Just to say last night we managed to reduce getting up every hour to only 3 wakes up! I tried DD is a sleeping bag coz I'd read somewhere (maybe on here) that it helped. Not sure if it was that or just a fluke but will be doing the same tonight Smile

JRmumma · 08/01/2014 13:41

Hello everyone, may i join?

DS is almost 5 months and was a fantastic sleeper until a 5 night hospital stay for chest infection just before Xmas. Used to only EVER wake for food and were were down to once a night (although we have no set bedtime as yet so often up late), but now its bed at appx 9ish, 2-3 wakes before waking for food at 12-1ish, then 2-3 wakes before food at 3-4ish, then wakes but can usually self settle between then and 7ish.

He was poorly for about 2.5 weeks so i think that, plus being woken in hosp every 2hrs or less, plus his age has put him deep into a sleep regression!

I'm knackered! DH helps every other night but doesn't hear DS so i still get woken, wake DH, prod repeatedly until he stops dozing back off and gets up, listen to crying through nappy change and bottle prep (and sometimes get up and cuddle while DH is doing this) so no real respite.

I feel your pain ladies!!!

Juvenilesuccess · 08/01/2014 14:18

mynameis thank you for sharing. Smile

eatcake fingers crossed last night was a one off but that this morning isn't!!!

cindyrella · 08/01/2014 19:53

3 wake ups for us last night yay!!!

robbo no naps for me im afraid! Will only nap in sling and -touch wood- getting used to pram.

cakebaby i feel u. My dp is same "shes got to get used to sleeping round noise" yes, therres noise then theres u drilling in her ear when shes falling to sleep

notmichaelcaine thanks for the reassurance!

juvenile good to know theres hope for us! Slept 1/2 hr in pram today thanks to amazing pal pushing her screaming round ikea while i slunk behind trying to pretend i wasnt a horrid mother & tryong not to cry!
