I'm back!! Let's start it off again, been a rough year, redundancy/job searching and broken ankle!! But back fighting fit, running and swimming and so can't wait for March next year, anyone care to join in xx ⛷⛷⛷⛷

Bloody hell, injured during a two-weeker Pesto I'd still be getting over the disappointment!

I'm going out for my first run for a month tonight despite my hangover Hoping my toe is up to it. I realise 'toe' is not up there in injury terms, but it's been surprisingly debilitating.

PestoSwimissimos · 05/11/2017 18:18

Good luck to you & your toe on tonight’s run 🏃

I’ve been doing walking in the evenings with my friend, for fitness —and— —social— reasons. But not tonight as both knees are aching

That 2 week holiday was still great fun though, you get to learn how to make the most of it and manage your disappointment Smile

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 06/11/2017 12:49

Can I join you? Just booked our holiday for Feb half term. Going to Switzerland for the first time, staying in Lauterbrunnen. Dd1 has now left home, dd2 will miss her so the holiday will have a different feel to it.
Now to keep an eye on the snow reports and keep exercising!

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 06/11/2017 15:44

Hi Puddle ... yes the 'keep exercising' is the hard bit during the winter for me. It was proper hat and gloves weather last night and I'm too tight to join a gym

I can report my toe hurts, but I think it's old age and I might as well stop moaning and crack on!

Jaybee99 · 06/11/2017 17:50

My son is also doing a season in Meribel..lucky so and so..

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 07/11/2017 10:14

I'd be very jealous too! Are you planning to go out and cramp his style Grin

massistar · 07/11/2017 22:31

So it looks like there's early snow on them there hills.

Anybody else going at NY? We've got a sneaky extra week in Italy as we're over there for Christmas visiting family anyway and am desperately hoping this will be a better year early season.

PestoSwimissimos · 09/11/2017 13:47

Plenty of the white stuff starting to appear. Soooooo wish I could go this year ❄️❄️❄️

JacksonBrodie · 03/12/2017 10:55

We're off to Les Gets in January. They've had a decent amount of snow already so I am hoping that's the base sorted out. I'd love to do a sneaky Easter trip as well but prices are looking steep.

Buttercupsandaisies · 06/12/2017 07:20

Off to Soldeu in Feb - already 70cm with tons forcast Friday 🌨🌨so can't wait!

snowbum · 06/12/2017 11:33

We were so sure we weren't going this year,
Then saw a really good deal that just made it look that bit more do-able..., so have booked and are off to Andorra mid Jan 😊
Can't wait, spent all year thinking we weren't going to go for a few years, and now I'm trawling snow reports and ski shops,
So happy, can't wait Grin

TriGirl007 · 06/12/2017 17:20

That’s niceSmile snowbum it’s great when you can sneak a trip in I expect we will be like that next season.
We are going in 12days time!! SO excited just need to dodge all school bugs now after a month of poorly kids with one thing after another please let us all be healthy for pre-xmas snow Smile

massistar · 07/12/2017 11:41

Woo hoo! 21 days until our trip. Can't wait!

Jaybee99 · 07/12/2017 12:40

Hi Cunty,
What he doesn't know is that I've booked his chalet for the 1st week of the season. His first guests will be me, DP, his brother and sister and gf, my sister and one of his cousins..mwahahaha...

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 07/12/2017 19:34

Shock Shock Grin

jaybee that's brilliantly mad! .... get those skills sharp!

PestoSwimissimos · 10/12/2017 11:52

Hahaha Jaybee99, that’s so funny 😂

DD2 flew out on Thursday and the resort opened yesterday. They’re doing staff training this week but she is hoping to get on the slopes on Friday. Have seen loads of photos, the snow is incredible!!

CaurnieBred · 19/12/2017 11:10

Not sure if we are going this year, as I will be hopefully starting a new job/between jobs :-(

DD is going with the school, so it was just going to be DH and I as well .

Will follow this thread for the vicarious thrill. Hope you all have great holidays.

TriGirl007 · 19/12/2017 18:51

Fab skiing but what a difference in temp from March in France skiing in t-shirt n legs with no hat & sunglasses to now in Austria wearing full helmet, googles with face snood & 4layers brrrrr! But having fun Smile and kids are warm still which is good. Good start to the season.

namechangedtoday15 · 19/12/2017 19:32

Tri - we're going on Friday. Lots of layers required then?

TriGirl007 · 20/12/2017 20:07

Yes lots of layers - I’ve had tights & leggings under my salloppetts and 3-4layers under my jacket - my DH & I both got that “ice cream” headache feeling for 60secs on a particularly cold bit down to one of the lifts as there was a slight gap between helmet and googles! An excuse to stop for hot chocolate though Grin

drspouse · 27/12/2017 15:48

Ok I'm posting but AM NOT HAPPY.
Not at all.
We thought about putting our own package together or going self catering this year as we're a bit less flush than usual. We have managed to save up though and booked Esprit, we're going in 10 days.
And I have a sodding chest infection and was suffering for a while before that meaning I've done no exercise. So I'll be really unfit and will do no skiing (and I tend to like mixing with cross country and winter walks needing even MORE lung function) and it will be an expensive indoor holiday.
Grrr.
We are going to Obergurgl and apparently there's not much in the way of day trips either.
And the DCs are quite young and we aren't really into apres ski evening things.
Grrr.

SinceWhenDid · 27/12/2017 20:43

Just marking my place. We've had a couple of Scottish ski days already this season.

Kids have been doing dry slope with the ski club and 7 year old ds is flying. He spent most of the time waiting for me 😣 At least 11 year old ds is old enough to go off by himself.😄

Never been to the alps so love (hate...😉) reading all your plans.

PatriciaHolm · 27/12/2017 21:49

We're in the French Alps now. Yes to lots of layers! But fab to have good snow for the first time in several years.

namechangedtoday15 · 28/12/2017 12:44

Just back from Cervinia. Bucketloads of snow. Skied Zermatt too.

Happy Skiing thread Part 3!!!
drspouse · 28/12/2017 16:02

Oh well I suppose I'll have an expensive indoor holiday with a view of snow.
