hereidrawtheline · 30/01/2009 08:30

excuse me for shouting

I have gone to customize, chosen MN classic, clicked save etc and I still have this set up which thank you very much is not for me right now. PLEASE help as this is ruining my relaxing breakfast over MN while DS watches Thomas time! [panic emoticon]

on the old board, when i clicked on Active Convos the threads i'd already contributed to or looked at were highlighted.

now i have to read all the thread titles to see which if any i've already looked at.

Pixel · 30/01/2009 17:57

I'm sure there's some way of altering my laptop so that the threads actually fit on the screen (my technical expert - dh - is at work), but then surely I'll have tiny little text on every other site I go on?

I was in a fairly good mood until I came on here.

TheInnocentBystander · 30/01/2009 17:57

Me too Expat. Its peeing me off.

Squirdle · 30/01/2009 18:14

Innocentbystander...where is this view you speak of?

Squirdle · 30/01/2009 18:16

I have found the view, but have no idea what you are on about

TheInnocentBystander · 30/01/2009 18:16

Its at the top of your screen. I have 'file', 'edit', then 'view'. Click on 'view' and then 'reload'.

TheInnocentBystander · 30/01/2009 18:17

Have you not got 'reload' as an option in 'view'?

Bummer. I am on Firefox perhaps that makes a difference?

I am guessing wildly here as I know nowt about puters.

TheInnocentBystander · 30/01/2009 18:18

If that doesn't work someone else off another thread said to click on the blue circle with a stalk off it at the top of your screen (mine is next to my search bit).

Hate the changes soooooo much and I know I will NEVER get used to it.

choufleur · 30/01/2009 18:27

Nooooooooo. just sat down from work and don't like it. can't get classic and to press shift and refresh to stop it being too spread out in firefox and wonder why on earth there are no pages 1 of X in really long threads.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

open notepad and copy & paste my previous post to it, then save as mumsnet.css

now that you have added the web developer toolbar. on there the third button is called css click that then click 'Add User Stylesheet' that will go to your My Documents and let you pick your mumsnet.css file
you will notice the whole thing will change to better colours with wider threads

unfortunatley you will need to reselect the sheet each time

maybe someone knows how to make it stick?

Antdamm · 30/01/2009 18:42

in the previous previous post the smiley face should be a colon and letter o ie. : o

regards, Antdamms dp

tatt · 30/01/2009 19:07

hate this - have opted for classic settings and nothing seems to have changed.

Antdamm · 30/01/2009 19:07

if u are using IE, you can copy and paste the above code stuff into notepad - fixing the smiley with a colon and the letter o. save it as maumsnet.cc or similar.

In internet explorer, go to tools, go to internet options, click on the accessibility button (bottom right hand corner ish) and select the tick box that says something about style sheets and lick that to your saved notepad file.

job done

Whizzz · 30/01/2009 19:32

I've tried changing to classic & at least it let me into my registration now but its still hurting my eyes to read

Afraid it might be nail in the coffin time for me after all these years

Northernlurker · 30/01/2009 19:57

Hurrah!!

After logging into 'my mumsnet' as somebody suggested here or one of the othe angst-filled threads I've been looking at I've got it to change to some classic like things which make things much better. Huuuuuuge sigh of relief - I was within seconds of defecting to moldies Bounty!

M44 · 30/01/2009 20:15

i've been on mumsnet for at least 9 years- and I am afraid that this format is so ghastly I shall only pop in from time to time-flouncing off to facebook now.It really has messed with my head and given me a nasty headache as I cannot change anything and cannot read it very easily. I am very very sad.

Stretch · 30/01/2009 20:54

Why is it hurting your eyes Whizzz? I have the colour scheme as 'classic' now, it's purple and not so bright.

francagoestohollywood · 30/01/2009 21:05

I can't turn to classic, what do I do?

FairLadyRantALot · 30/01/2009 21:10

stretch, it probably is the whiteness of the background....very bright, and if you turn it down you can't see other websites...

2cats2many · 30/01/2009 21:23

I can't believe how much worse this new site is. Its practicaly unreadable. What was wrong with the old one?
