Xenophobia, homophonic, transphobia

spstchmu · 29/06/2026 01:52

Are you gonna do anything about it? Like, i know the line is that shoving the madness in the feminism board means it's not transphobia. And I know it's been done to death but I'm sick of it. It's not acceptable. Xenophobia, racism and homophobia also increasing.
And no. I won't leave. This is the biggest forum of its kind and it needs to represent and respect us all. And care that it's not.

There is zero excuse now for any man to be confused about whether he should be using a female space legally. He should not.

I don’t believe you can change sex
despite the fact I don’t personally mind, i respect other women who do not want biological men in their toilets

but there is an overwhelming hatred and stereotyping of all
trans people as predatory sex offenders on Mumsnet, it has become an unhealthy obsession to some.
there are perfectly valid views to be expressed, I am concerned about young people with other vulnerabilities and mental health issues making irreversible decisions about their bodies.
it has become impossible to make any comment on Mumsnet without a post degenerating into a transphobic sounding board. The hatred is so disproportionate to reality, it makes me feel very uncomfortable

I have to disagree with your assertion that the discussions of those women who frequent the FWR boards are driven by overwhelming hatred. I believe there is concern and a great drive to defend women’s need for safety and privacy and to protect children’s bodies from irreversible damage. And there’s fear and anger about the seemingly unrelenting push to force women to ignore the fact that the Emperor isn’t wearing any clothes. I’m not disassociating myself from the women on those boards. I am saying that I reached my conclusions, which align with theirs, primarily by myself. In the same way that many of the people I know in real life have reached them. I objected to the poster I quoted, who made the assumption that everyone who believed men should not be in women’s spaces, was part of the FWR ‘team’.

AhhhSchtop · 30/06/2026 11:12

@bittertwisted The fact that championing and defending women’s rights is an ‘obsession’ for some women should be celebrated.

We should be thanking these women for their dogged determination to keep fighting back against the threat to women’s rights and applauding their immense courage to keep going in the face of hostility, abuse and threats of violence.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/06/2026 11:14

Yes, luckily FWS were obsessed enough to pursue the Scottish government all the way up to the Supreme Court, and then have to drag compliance out of them in further hearings.

As you also know, women are most at risk in their own homes, from their intimate partners or ex partners or close family members.

Are you going to exclude men from heterosexual relationships and family life?

You are conflating women choosing to take the risk of marriage with women having no choice but to use a public toilet when out.

Single-sex spaces exist so that women can exist in public.

Mumsnet posters can post on any thread, FWR is just an internet board on a forum not a locked room, and pointing out that men who say they are whatever whatever are just stlll men can be done anywhere.

We can say it politely, we can say it angrily, we can spell it out it in kitten fluff or in blood red rage. But the facts remain. Sorry to break it to you, but not one person has ever 'changed sex'.

Umm … okay? Did I bring up my thoughts on transwomen for you to smack down? No. So that’s just you being a bit odd.

Your first post was deliberately provocative, an attack on an entire class of posters, and now you are pretending to be innocent when someone rises to your bait. I see straight through you.

And I have to correct you. As the poster you are referring to, the FWR “team” references a particular group of posters that flood threads and overwhelm single posters. It has nothing to do with their opinions. I don’t believe men belong in women’s spaces, yet don’t include myself in FWR’s “team”.

Edited

Forgive me if I’m not saddened. How can you see straight through me? You know exactly nothing about me. Are you the Mafia? 🤭

That many women can come together with a common message and the poor put upon poster can’t find a similar body of women to back them up suggests they have an unpopular opinion. Indeed they might be wrong

I'm not part of any 'team', I don't work for anyone and I'm not in a club. I'm just an old biddy waiting for a loaf of bread to finish cooking before I go back to my potting shed and throw some clay on a wheel and when I come back I'll do what I always do, press 'active' and post on threads that I see as and when I see them.

We don't have a batshit signal, just opinions that we post on an internet forum, same as everyone else.

Opinions cannot be wrong.

How many do you see on this thread that you know are part of the FWR team? Do you believe they are somehow operating as a collective? That would be my definition of a team.

Course they can

Because opinions are different to facts you mean ?

But people give out opinions that are inconsistent with facts then I would say their opinion is wrong because to me facts outweigh opinion

I might be eventually if I wait long enough but I always get picked last. It's the glasses and the inhaler.

Not the case. There are lots of places where people with gender critical views would be the outliers. Here, GC people can usually count on support.

backformoreofthesame · 30/06/2026 12:48

I have yet to find such place IRL however

That’s because MN reflects what most people think better than your own filter bubble does.

Yes, polls consistently show that GC people are the majority. A democracy should reflect the majority opinion.

The problem is that people with minority views often look for other people that share these views and this is how echo chambers form. It then feels offensive and shocking when people disagree with the prevailing narrative in your world. I would advice you to seek out a wide range of people and engage in open and honest discussion about this issue. At the very least it will help you understand the true prevelance of GC opinion and why it is the majority position.

Do you read FWR regularly? I see at least 15 or so, and I haven’t read the full thread. I do think you’re focusing far too much on the word ‘team’ though. I prefer your other option there of ‘collective’.

There is no FWR "team". A team would require coordination of posters. There is no coordination, just women seeing a thread in Trending and independently posting on it.

You've lied about a board's regulars and are pretending faux innocence. Give it a rest.

I think it's a fair assessment that we each individually have pretty good batshit detectors, rendering a signal unnecessary.

Abhannmor · 30/06/2026 13:12

I've never encountered transphobia on MN. Perhaps you could provide some examples? I don't mean posters who mention the fact that women are adult human females - which is the legal position and a biological fact.

There are different positions about immigration but I don't think they amount to xenophobic..

And homophones are of course well loved , like puns , palindromes and Mornington Crescent.
