So much interest in strangers genitalia. It's all a bit odd.

No one is remotely interested in their genitalia, we just want it kept out of female only spaces.

Zero interest in random men's genitalia, hence not wanting it in female spaces.

But unless you ask them to expose themselves, how do you know? I was regularly mistaken for a boy as a child. Should I have been forced to prove I wasn’t?

Humans have been able to correctly sex other humans since the beginning of time without looking at their genitals. Even masculine/feminine presenting, it becomes pretty clear up close and personal and once they’ve opened their mouth to speak.

Does anyone have an original argument for men being allowed into women’s spaces, or examples of actual transphobia, we’re nearly 700 posts in. Anyone?

As someone that interacts with trans people, men and women, pretty much every day I can’t say I know any that are as Mumsnet describes.

This is a masterclass in failing to understand safeguarding. Most people would presumably say that the males they interact with regularly are not predators. But some males are, and some predatory males fool everyone around them - some can even be charming when they want to be. And even if none of the ones you know personally are predators, some others are. So all males need to stay out of single sex spaces, because the bad ones don't wear badges or a special hat to warn that only they need to be avoided.

Do you really think the only difference between men and women is genitals?
Have you never noticed that men and women walk differently, sound different, have different proportions in terms of limb length, hip width, jaw and brow shapes and loads of other small differences that might not be conclusive in isolation e.g. the presence/ absence of an adams apple but when taken as a whole can be used to accurately determine someone's sex.
Funny how with all the night time visitors to the large student house I shared for years there was not one single incident of people getting to the seeing genitals point and discovering that the bloke they thought they had pulled was actually a woman or vice versa.

I was mistaken for a boy when I was a child too. I was starting to think I was called ‘Son’. But then, you know, puberty. My eldest son used to get mistaken for a girl and, in these days of gender identity mania, was asked a lot of personal and intrusive questions about his sexuality and his body. He was asked whether he was a trans girl. And a few times whether he was a trans boy! He is 18 now and definitely doesn’t get mistaken for female, even though he has long hair, is very slender and has what might be called fine features. His gait is that of a man. His hands are the same shape as mine, but are unmistakably a man’s hands, bigger and with more prominent knuckles. If he put on a dress, he would look like a bloke in a dress. Which is exactly what he would be. I think the vast majority of women can tell at a glance without any need for people to drop their drawers.

Give it up. The Supreme Court has confirmed that sex is relevant and matters in law and policy. Your "shut it down" campaign has failed.

All your claims that someone's genitals don't matter in most circumstances and are none of my business don't survive contact with reality.

When someone is bigger than me, stronger than me, and has the kind of genitals that he can weaponise to put a baby in me against my will, you bet your ass the type of genitals he has is very much my business as it is part of my assessment of the risk he poses to me.

This understanding of the risk men pose to women is part of why the EA explicitly allows single-sex services.

False comparisons with homophobia, racism, et al are also bullshit.

• A man having consensual sex with other men in private infringes on no one's rights.
• Black people being treated like white people infringes on no one's rights.
• A man walking into the spaces set aside for women's exclusive use is at a minimum violating the rights of the women who rely on that space being female-only for their privacy, dignity, and sense of safety. If he is Karen White or John Worbuoys or any of the countless other rapists out there, he poses a real and present rape threat to those women. Him identifying as feminine doesn't alter that.

It's perfectly logical and consistent to support the former two and oppose the latter.

There's dozens of subtle cues as to someone's sex that, when taken in aggregate, let humans very accurately sex each other. Courtship relies on this, and women's safety assessments of the people around them rely on this.
