Xenophobia, homophonic, transphobia

spstchmu · Today 01:52

Are you gonna do anything about it? Like, i know the line is that shoving the madness in the feminism board means it's not transphobia. And I know it's been done to death but I'm sick of it. It's not acceptable. Xenophobia, racism and homophobia also increasing.
And no. I won't leave. This is the biggest forum of its kind and it needs to represent and respect us all. And care that it's not.

I know you cant trust the DBS due to the Trans Loophole and the police losing track of hundreds of thousands of paedophiles and the lack of action on sexual offences and on and on and on...

Edited

Actually can I give you a quick example of this?

I'm wondering what is 'differentforgirls' according to Differentforgirls?

It's a Joe Jackson song.

I'm aware of the song. I just find it a slightly ironic user name for someone who thinks men/women boys/girls are completely interchangeable.

Who would that be then?

I've gone down a rabbit hole now.

What do you think of this?

Its one of my favourite songs but I'm not sure what it has to do with the subject.

@crikeymikey123 most men who claim to be women dont have any surgery.

cannibalfish · Today 20:45

Genuinely curious, for the people that disagree with trans rights (I’m not sure if you are comfortable with being labelled TERFs), why do you tend to ignore the existence of/patronise trans men but vilify trans women?

It’s something I’ve noticed in most Mumsnet discourse surrounding opinions on trans people and always wondered.

Ereshkigalangcleg · Today 20:48

Women don’t “vilify trans women”. We just don’t share your ideological worldview and see them as no different to any other man. And obviously women who identify as men are women.

anyolddinosaur · Today 20:49

@thisandthats The police accept that mixed sex spaces are less safe. More sexual assaults, more voyeurism.

What do you mean ‘disagree with trans rights’? Trans people have the same rights as everyone else.

Trans men are female and therefore not as much of a risk (backed up by statistics) to women and men. If men have a problem with trans men (women) in their spaces then that’s up to them to solve. They don’t as they know they are women.

Trans women are men and men don’t belong in women’s single sex spaces and sports. I thought this was obvious.

Ereshkigalangcleg · Today 20:50

It’s perfectly obvious to the vast majority of the population. And the Supreme Court.

Nothing. It's one of mine too and I just can't be bothered arguing about 0.5% of the population anymore, considering the thread was meant to address 3 phobias but has been taken over by one.

Vilify as in attack the reputation of?

Nobody is attacking the reputation of men who say they are women, just stating that they are men and as such should be risk assessed in exactly the same way as any men.

And ignore the existence of women who say they are men, not ignored at all but women do not have the same risk factors as men. Maybe if you popped onto the FWR board you'd see the discussions and discourse about the situation girls and young women who are desperately escaping the objectification of females are in. I am pretty sure most people who dont think people can change sex do not want girls and young women to be having their breasts removed, or going into menopause in their 20s or walking with sticks due to early onset osteoporosis.

I was trying to word it in a manner that wouldn’t get anyone’s back up as the topic seems to cause genuine anger in people.

As someone that interacts with trans people, men and women, pretty much every day I can’t say I know any that are as Mumsnet describes.

Aw right no bother. I just thought I'd cheer you up as you always come across as miserable.

Try again.

None of the trans people you interact with every day are...the sex they are?

What?

You seem surprised by the concept that people just don’t believe their gender identity is as meaningful as you do, and just see a man. Being told these men are women and my feelings about it don’t count does cause me genuine anger, yes.

Perfectly fine over here. Don’t feel the need to insult rape survivors, and pretty much the majority of posters on the thread, so that’s a win I guess.

Still a ‘YouTube’ error message. Maybe it’s trying to tell you something.

None of us disagree with 'trans rights'. It's about MALE vs FEMALE. The very fact that we have no problem with trans men as they are......female should have given you the hint. This is solely about males in female spaces. Not 'trans'.

Ereshkigalangcleg · Today 21:24

I mean, not being funny, but is it really all that hard to grasp that many women simply just see them as men? Doesn’t seem like it should be.
