Why has MN changed colour?

It's awful! About 10 mins ago I refreshed a page and the blue banners changed to a much brighter shade, and the OP is highlighted in grey instead of green, and I hate it. It's too bright. What's happening??

It really is. One has to wonder whether the colours were picked by lucky dip, rather than chosen because they worked at least as well as the existing options.

No, bad design always grates. And where users' accessibility needs aren't met, they won't get over that in a few weeks.

We've made some changes to the appearance of threads and we have a thread about it here.

We've noted your feedback and updates will be posted on the main thread we've linked to.

Why? Why have you done this? It's made MN pretty much unreadable. And it's the whole site, not just threads. The dazzling brightness, dayglo shade of blue, and poor contrast are site wide not just on threads.

Your post (in a charming shade of palest grey) does not link to the thread in question, but only back to the main site.

I've been here over 15 years. I read in dark mode. Now my colours have gone and I'm sad.

Mine just changed to bright blue, it's hideous! I don't like it at all.

Did you give any consideration to people with migraine or epilepsy before making the changes?

Or even those who just don’t want to be blinded?

MN, please sort this out. Was there even a consultation on this? It's bright and garish and actually hurts my eyes. Also, I object to my posts being highlighted in bloody PINK!!

Do you always have loads of tabs open? That would give me heebies.

Or to those with less than perfect sight. I have a cataract in one eye and the brightness is horrible. My laptop brightness setting is already down at 26% so I can't dim it any further or other sites will be unreadable.

Same here - this is hard to look at.

I find it very hard to believe this hits any standards for accessibility.

Just admit defeat and change back. We can all pretend this didn't happen.

A couple of hours ago on light mode the background colour appeared more like cream or pale sepia but now it’s back to glaring white.

Another vote for how awful it is. Why are you pretending the sand colour is green? I have eyes. Hex #F6F7F1 is 'spring Wood' according to Colour Name Finder.

Does it not properly drain your battery though? Surely you don't need loads of Mumsnet pages open.
