You might notice things are looking a bit different today. We’ve given Mumsnet a colour refresh, based on feedback from you in our surveys (thank you!).

We’ve also moved a couple of things around to reduce clutter and make things easier to find:

  • Watch now sits under the OP post
  • Report has moved into the meatball menu (the three dots on posts)

As ever, we’d love to hear what you think, so please share your feedback below.

I’ve swapped to dark mode but everyone’s posts are the same colour. The OP still has the little tag saying ‘OP’ and so do I, but I want an obvious colour difference please.

I've just been into settings and changed my colour choices.

How did you do this? Even my keyboard looks blue now!

Helleofabore · 18/09/2025 16:11

LizzyMumsnet

The contrast on the site is now all over the shop with it being very bright and this new lighter blue is hard to read. It is very hard on my eyes.

This blue appears a medium lavender with a blue hue and it is not easy to read.

What kind of monster puts the big light on! Turn it off.

😁I always have the big light on. Can't be doing with faffy lamps. So probably fits that I don't mind the brighter colours here!

Swandry · 18/09/2025 16:12

My feedback is this is terrible and how can I turn it back @LizzyMumsnet

UnmarketableTomato · 18/09/2025 16:15

I've got all the filters on my phone, and indeed on my glasses but still getting a migraine from the BRIGHTNESS. Make it go away please.

Londonmummy66 · 18/09/2025 16:15

THis is really awful I'm afraid - way too bright and headache inducing. Conversely the highlight colours are really pale and harder to spot. I miss my obvious green and purple - please please please change it back.

DeanStockwelll · 18/09/2025 16:15

I agree it's very bright but my bug bears are the insipid colours for mine and ops post and the watch button at the top.
How the heck do we know if we want to watch a thread just after reading the op?
I have my display set on 'all' so that's a heck of a long way to scroll back up to the top .
Please put it back at the bottom!

ihavebecomecomfortablynumb · 18/09/2025 16:16

It’s bloody awful, very harsh on the eyes, is there an option anywhere to change it back?

Hercisback1 · 18/09/2025 16:16

It's like the screen is permanently on 100% brightness but only on MN so it's definitely a you problem.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 18/09/2025 16:16

DrBlackbird · 18/09/2025 16:11

How did you do this? Even my keyboard looks blue now!

Click on the 'person' to go to your account. Then the 'settings' cog. Then the 'more settings' dropdown, then 'talk settings'.

Cantseetreesforthewood · 18/09/2025 16:16

It's a bit bright, but i'll probably get used to it.

Please, please, please put watch on more than just the op. How do I know after 1 post it's something I want to keep an eye on??

Oh, edit: I don't need the colour coding and the little flags telling me it's my post/op's post. The colour tells me that. So the little flags can go.

DrBlackbird · 18/09/2025 16:17

Plus now it’s really far too clear which ones are my posts (hint: how it says ‘my posts’ in a bright lilac colour!). This is not helpful for any woman who didn’t necessarily want someone in their family to see how their posts are now made glaringly obvious. Personally, I liked my posts being indistinguishable from the OP’s

Legomania · 18/09/2025 16:17

MyrtleLion · 18/09/2025 16:01

So you've got rid of the green and purple women's rights colours and given us the baby blue and pink of the trans flag?

Fine if that's your branding now. Says a lot about MN but not its community.

But at least give us the option to choose the original colours.

@MyrtleLion 😂did you hurt yourself with that reach?

cornbunting · 18/09/2025 16:17
  • I don't mind the brightness (I'll get used to it).
  • The "my posts" banner is pointless. I know who I am!
  • Shame the post highlight colours are all so pale now. White/grey/green are virtually indistinguishable from the background, so I can't use them.
  • I like that "Report" has gone into a menu, it's easy to find and I'm not going to click on it by accident while scrolling.
  • Don't put features I can't access on the menu! Premium features should be greyed out or absent from the menus for us proles slumming it in Basic Land.
LlamaNoDrama · 18/09/2025 16:18

Mine looks the same as normal

Stravaig · 18/09/2025 16:18

DappledThings · 18/09/2025 16:12

Deil's work! 🤣 (We really need the wee laughtie reaction reinstating too)

SirRaymondClench · 18/09/2025 16:18

It's hurting my eyes. Is there any option to switch it back if we want to?

gottakeeponmoving · 18/09/2025 16:18

I like it. Can't people turn the brightness down if they are struggling?

ThatBlackCat · 18/09/2025 16:19

I wish you would have just added on these colours as an extra option, instead removing the original options altogether. I cannot get a shade out of your new offerings that suits my eyes (and my migraine issues). Can you please pretty please restore the original shades, while keeping the new ones for anyone that wants them?

MyrtleLion · 18/09/2025 16:20

Legomania · 18/09/2025 16:17

@MyrtleLion 😂did you hurt yourself with that reach?

Just saying what I see.

Luxio · 18/09/2025 16:20

gottakeeponmoving · 18/09/2025 16:18

I like it. Can't people turn the brightness down if they are struggling?

Well that wouldn't really work because every other site is fine and it's just Mumsnet that's now luminous. So changing the brightness for everything doesn't really fix it because then all the other sites will be not bright enough.

GeniuneWorkOfFart · 18/09/2025 16:20

gottakeeponmoving · 18/09/2025 16:18

I like it. Can't people turn the brightness down if they are struggling?

No, I can't only turn the brightness on one website down. That's not a very workable solution.

limescale · 18/09/2025 16:21

That is not magenta, it's flesh (or blush if you don't want to boak)!

A few updates to Mumsnet 🎨
Hercisback1 · 18/09/2025 16:21

gottakeeponmoving · 18/09/2025 16:18

I like it. Can't people turn the brightness down if they are struggling?

No because that dulls every other app and my keyboard. It's a MN problem.
