A few updates to Mumsnet 🎨

You might notice things are looking a bit different today. We’ve given Mumsnet a colour refresh, based on feedback from you in our surveys (thank you!).

We’ve also moved a couple of things around to reduce clutter and make things easier to find:

• Watch now sits under the OP post
• Report has moved into the meatball menu (the three dots on posts)

I'd be interested to see the results of the survey, I don't actually recall seeing any survey if I'm being honest, did anyone else?

Also whilst the colour is really annoying the most frustrating change is the fact you've hidden the report button. That seems like a really strange decision, I'd be interested to know the thinking behind it?

Very glad to see the Report button at the top now, it was a pain to scroll past paragraphs of crap when the thread title made it obvious it was spam!

But oof the new colour is bright 😎

Yes I tried that but agree that is horrible as well. I am so tired of things being changed just for the sake of it.

Well MN I don’t know who you surveyed but out of 70 odd replies on here most hate it. Plus there is another thread at the moment with lots of other people hating the changes. Can you tell us how many members were surveyed? Can you tell us how many of those surveyed requested a change?

Maybe it is brighter on certain devices? It is headache inducing on mine, even with the brightness turned down.

I'm seeing blue and it's much too bright!

I don't get what people are saying about the brightness. The colour my posts are highlighted in is so insipid I can't make it out,

I'm on premium and can't change anything, other than to choose another washed-out colour for OP and my own posts. Seriously not impressed.

Actually horrible. Like someone turned up the brightness by 30000.
Hard on the eyes, unaccessible.

I’ve just tried dark mode for the first time ever and, even in that, the contrast is migraine inducingly bright.
I could turn down the brightness on my iPad but that then affects every other website I visit and they’re not a problem.
I think you may have inadvertently found a cure for my mumsnet habit 👍👍

So you've got rid of the green and purple women's rights colours and given us the baby blue and pink of the trans flag?

Fine if that's your branding now. Says a lot about MN but not its community.

But at least give us the option to choose the original colours.

I love the OP colour and label it looks more fun!

I only came in to this board to read about the colour refresh and see what else might have changed but, having read the replies I suppose I also just wanted to add that I like the refresh overall. As you’d expect with this type of thread you’re probably mainly going to see replies from those that DON’T like it, which can give a skewed view.

I agree, report should be easy to find rather than hidden away.

And having an 'add post' button on each post just encourages people to leap right in with every passing thought rather than reading the thread to see whether it's already been said or superceded by subsequent information.

We clearly have a different interpretation of the word "fun".

Holy crap my own posts are pink, wtaf!

Please don't double code. We don't need a different background colour AND text in a contrast banner to alert to the OP or our own posts. It's redundant, intrusive, and takes extra vertical space which interrupts the smooth flow when scanning down posts.

Does anyone remember completing this survey? I don't recall being asked to.

The garish blue and the insipid post highlight colours (magenta? More like pale peach) look like they were dreamed up in completely different departments. They don't go together at all.

And I want my purple back.

MNHQ Can you please have some consideration to visually impaired viewers before you make endless changes?
