A few updates to Mumsnet 🎨

You might notice things are looking a bit different today. We’ve given Mumsnet a colour refresh, based on feedback from you in our surveys (thank you!).

We’ve also moved a couple of things around to reduce clutter and make things easier to find:

• Watch now sits under the OP post
• Report has moved into the meatball menu (the three dots on posts)

As ever, we’d love to hear what you think, so please share your feedback below.

I was reading MN at points all through the day and everything was hunky dory.

Picked up the phone ten minutes ago and everything has turned pale blue.

Spent 10 minuste messing about with thesettings in my MN account. And even restarted my phone to see if that would help.

No i don't like it. It hurts the eyes. It makes MN look frivolous.

Why change something that didn't need changing?

Change for change sake is really ridiculous.

Just posted this and therez a stupid banner on it saying "My post" . Why.?I can tell because of the colour it's My post. I'm really not that stupid.

I preferred the colours I originally chose for OP's posts and my own, when the colour choice was first introduced, but I expect I will get used to these new colours. I'm assuming there is no longer the option to choose ones own colours?

MN is now the equivalent of the nightmare neighbour who shines stadium strength security lights into everyone's bedrooms. Owwww!

Agree! Report is surely one of the most important buttons - keep it where it was!

That stupid Add Post is still there under each post, but you don't need it as it's on the bottom of the screen anyway.
I'd be interested to know the stats on which button is more frequently used.

I've browsed a bit and I have to say it is very hard on the eyes.
I struggled to go through active convos because it actually gave me a bit of a headache.

It needs toning down a bit.

Also it's all sort of bleeding together, making it harder to read.

May I ask what was wrong with how it was that meant a change was needed?

Awful.
Not a positive change at all.
Too bright. Too sickly sweet and twee.
Stop fiddling with things that don't need fiddling with!

It's horrible.

Moving the "watch" option is pointless - I don't know if I want to watch a thread when I have only read the OP, but now we have to scroll all the way back to the top.

Also, why do we need a little button telling us that it's the OP's or our own post?

OPs posts always showed as green so were easy to spot, and my posts have always shown as pink (although other colours are, I believe, available).

Maybe instead of tinkering about with nonsense like this, MN could just fix the bloody annoying glitch that stops you returning to where you are in the Active list- which has been going on for nearly 2 weeks now.

Oh yes, i agree hiding the report button won't end well!

Please can you change it back? My eyes hurt.

I've just switched to dark mode and the OP and own posts are no longer marked in a different colour - all the same dark grey. So that needs to be fixed.

'not available in dark mode' why not? Feels like someone prioritise branding colour over accessibility.

It's ok. A bit bright but not objectionably so.

We know who started the threads and which bits we added! We don't need big banners

Well I like it. It feels fresh and new. Somehow cleaner than it was.

And I love watch being in the bottom right of the first post rather than report. Makes sense to me.

There is in settings and more settings . The choices aren't great though.

It’s making me feel dizzy and sick like the weird feeling I get with fluorescent lights.

Yet another unnecessary change. I'm getting so fed up with this.

I have poor eyesight and chose a nice bright colour to highlight my own posts. Now they're all pale and I find it hard to distinguish.

So thanks for nothing MNHQ.

I use the meatball menu > Bottom quite a lot. I'm going to have to reprogram my fingers not to press report instead. Why not replace 'add post' with report?

It is far too bright and I will have to find something else to pass the time until it is toned down again.

The “my posts” and “original post” is completely unnecessary and also takes up a chunk of space (a whole horizontal row) to tell you something you can already see/know.

I don't actually want to watch the OP post; I want to watch the entire thread. And it seems to me that making it more difficult to find the place to report a post that is offensive is a retrograde step.
