FYI: I've name changed for this to avoid a pile-on.

This post is about the overwhelming negativity and hostility with the FWR board that new posters and posters with a differing viewpoint face if they attempt to use the board.

There is a persistent group within the board that are, to put it simply, hateful towards others. Despite posting there on and off for more than 4 years, I have never felt welcome, despite not holding any particular extreme views or being abusive to others. Without exception, I am accused of being another poster, or a man, a TRA, or some kind of paid activist. This occurs again and again until I leave a thread in frustration.

I’ve seen this happen to many other new posters. Few return. Why would they? Such an acidic atmosphere doesn’t encourage healthy discussion. I’d just like to discuss women’s rights, but this board makes discussion impossible.

I’m not exactly sure what the answer is, except for @MNHQ to request the board to tone down the rhetoric a bit and back off on any new names they may see on the board. Let people engage with you rather than actively drive them away.

I wonder if the soon to be legendary spreadsheet of fwr users has links to another spreadsheet of potential other usernames that each fwr user might be using on other threads. Hmm. Scintillating.

I wonder if the OP was inspired by other boards on here where they have threads about Lists found in shopping trolleys?

Semi Skinned milk

Please gawd no. That is one fetish too far 😱

I disagree with people in FWR because I have a problem with the way they talk about trans people. Not because I want trans women in single sex spaces.

So because you want to censure how others speak?

I feel the same. I really don't like the dehumanising language used. Whatever point they may have, there's no need for that.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/01/2025 18:15

Hope it's actual butter and not Utterly Butterly or something.

jeffgoldblum · 28/01/2025 18:16

Is referring to a man as a man dehumanising though? 🤔

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/01/2025 18:17

We're not going to call males women however problematic it is for you @PeopleLikeColdplay - let's get that straight.

How is it dehumanising to call a man a man?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/01/2025 18:21

It does seem to really annoy other people that many of us like each other as posters and heaven forbid! Express appreciation when we like something someone posts. I'm finding it quite amusing, the number of times posters have mentioned it.

Helleofabore · 28/01/2025 18:22

We are constantly told that we must stop using the words 'male person'. That referring to them as male is dehumanising.

So, really, when you reach that level of authoritarianism and totalitarianism, there is no where to go. But strangely, those who censure women for how they speak about people they view as causing them harm never quite think about those aspects.

It's not policing what people say when you have the oral high ground, silly!

Of course - who needs arguments when you are on the moral high ground (or oratory)

It is dehumanising to women to call some of our oppressor class women and by virtue of that admit all those males in to women's single sex spaces and sports.

Why don't you care about the dehumanisation of female people?

@ShireMaiden

‘I have a problem with the way they talk about trans people’

What, in as few words as possible, is your problem with ‘the way they talk about trans people’?

*it’s not transpeople, it’s men who tell us they are women. Trans women if you will. They should actually be ‘transmen’ - men who are transitioning, transitioning men therefore. Makes much more sense, logically. But we know logic bears no influence in gender woo, and we know language was hijacked by TRAs to make sure men were called women, long ago. But I digress.

Yay, that's my thinking too! Trans-identified men = trans men. Trans-identified women = trans women. Do you think it will get any traction🤔

'I don't like the way people use dehumanising language towards trans people'.

Waits patiently for an example of dehumanising language.

I feel the same. I really don't like the dehumanising language used. Whatever point they may have, there's no need for that.

for me there is a difference when talking about transwomen in general, and an individual.

I have no issue in calling a transwoman a biological male when talking in general. I prefer to use a persons preferred pronouns when talking about them as an individual.

I would never use 'man in a dress' or other such language, because i do feel that is insulting and derogatory and has echoes of older words that are no longer in use.

I accept not everyone will agree with that, but i'm not about to sit here and tell people they shouldn't use their preferred language. I used to, but not any more, because it doesn't take or add anything from a discussion, it just creates a point of contention and hostility that isn't pertinent to the conversation.

Again, boundaries.. everyone's are different.

Datun · 28/01/2025 18:36

Honestly.

Being called disingenuous, or goady, or a man, doesn't require resilience!!

It's like some people have never, ever been disagreed with, or had an argument!!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/01/2025 18:38

I think maybe that's the issue @Datun

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/01/2025 18:40

That's reasonable. I do personally think people who use wrong sex pronouns are part of the problem, but like you I don't police people's language generally, it's up to them what pronouns or terms they use. I don't like coercion of any kind.
