FYI: I've name changed for this to avoid a pile-on.

This post is about the overwhelming negativity and hostility with the FWR board that new posters and posters with a differing viewpoint face if they attempt to use the board.

There is a persistent group within the board that are, to put it simply, hateful towards others. Despite posting there on and off for more than 4 years, I have never felt welcome, despite not holding any particular extreme views or being abusive to others. Without exception, I am accused of being another poster, or a man, a TRA, or some kind of paid activist. This occurs again and again until I leave a thread in frustration.

I’ve seen this happen to many other new posters. Few return. Why would they? Such an acidic atmosphere doesn’t encourage healthy discussion. I’d just like to discuss women’s rights, but this board makes discussion impossible.

I’m not exactly sure what the answer is, except for @MNHQ to request the board to tone down the rhetoric a bit and back off on any new names they may see on the board. Let people engage with you rather than actively drive them away.

In my opinion, it is significantly worse than AIBU or any other board.

Do you think everyone saying this has decided to secretly band together and lie about it? Come on. They're saying it because it's true. I'm sure it feels very good to have everyone agreeing with you and patting you on the back, and it must feel very nice to feel part of a gang with a common goal, but that doesn't make your means beyond reproach. Unfortunately, people don't want to discuss these things with the board, myself included, because it'll be all of two minutes before someone launches a personal attack.

Look above to see deleted posts if you would like to see evidence of this.

So why are you still here repeating the same thing over and over?

I could ask you the same question 🤣

"Do you think everyone saying this has decided to secretly band together and lie about it?"

Readers, if you read back a few pages, you will see that just that has happened.

I’ve already explained why, many times, so why would you need to ask?

How many people are actually saying it as opposed to those who disagree? seems like it's just a handful of people who have a problem, including an plopping OP. I can't agree with you on AIBU. People post on there for support and are torn apart, day after day. People not agreeing men can be women and saying so robustly is not nearly as bad as all that.

And, of course, FWR has always been a target from trans activists who don't like us having our say, so who knows if the people who object to it are all doing so in good faith.

Why should we take the word of the people who think FWR is awful over the ones who don't? Why is your opinion more valid than anyone else's?

I think pretty much anyone who reads this thread will see what you and a few others have been trying to do.

Bannedontherun · 28/01/2025 17:24

the use of the word lying is quite outing imo, outing, pointing to a familiar style of language by a certain other user name

BobbyPeruLikeTheCountry · 28/01/2025 17:25

I think it's very clear, this thread was not posted in good faith TBH.

I don't know what you want here. The FWR board is full of aggression and it puts people off.

It's blindingly obvious. No one wants to engage in sensible discourse. They want opponents they can beat down. It's the thrill of the fight. PPs have already stated or otherwise shown this in this very thread.

Do with that information what you will. If you want to carry on making the same mistakes whilst tripping over congratulating each other about it, have at it.

So don’t go on it then.

Yes, the OP had two deleted. The person who wanted MNHQ to ensure civility and feminine tone from FWR.

EDIT - Still waiting for my questions regarding posts on this thread to be answered.

Try as i might i just cannot leave….

Snowball anyone?

Quite the illustration I reckon.

This doesn't make any sense

I would expect people to get the .edge that no one actually wants to argue the toss over men in women's prisons with you for fiftieth time and stop asking personally.

This is the kind of shitty atmosphere people are talking about btw. HTH.

What shitty atmosphere? You're on here to berate women for wanting single sex spaces and sport. I think that's shitty.

All we want is to be seen as fully human and for people to recognise that OUR oppression is solely based the perceptions and or/ reality of our sexed bodies and around assumptions about our reproductive capabilities.

This has nothing to do with anything that a male can experience because they do not have female bodies.

In the UK trans women are protected from harassment and discrimination in employment and housing by other laws like the Equality Act. All that is left are demands which is for access to spaces and sports that were never designed for them. That's unreasonable.

So sorry I'm fed up with the tone policing. And as for the personal attacks on this thread, they're totally shocking.

I'm not going to be told to tone down. There is nothing incorrect in what I have posted if you see women as fully human.

Well, if you don't want to argue, then .... don't?

I don't argue with you all anymore, but when people refuse to argue you get several pages of questions and outrage that people don't answer, which is the point being made.

Datun · 28/01/2025 17:29

So far, and I'm only on page 2, I'm kind of enjoying this thread. As a microcosm of the complaint, it's spectacular.

Although the OP is the one who has had umpteen of their posts deleted...

It means you are here making a point, yet the first time I came across your user name was twisting something that I had posted into a bad faith interpretation.

Anyone looking at your name now and in the future will see your own behaviour and what you have been complaining about and see the hypocrisy of your posts.

Seems like an own goal to me, but I could be misinterpreting how others will see your posting behaviour.

It’s wild. It’s like positing here and on FWR is compulsory. I have no interest in baby names. Gets what thread I can easily avoid.

Some posters come onto FWR to censure people they don't agree with. For some of those posters, that is their aim.

But what OP and other people are saying is they are interested in FWR topics but they don't feel welcome in them. It's different. Of course if none of us gave a shit about women's rights then we would just ignore it and post in baby names instead.

ShireMaiden · 28/01/2025 17:30

Do you include male bodied people (trans women) in your definition of women?

If not I'm not sure why you would ever be in disagreement with anyone on FWR and your posts on this thread are quite bizarre.

jeffgoldblum · 28/01/2025 17:34

So to paraphrase .. poster posts in site stuff saying that they want to post in FWR but the other posters are meanies who don't agree with her , possibly hoping mn will do .... what ?
Tags in fwr poster by name , other posters come on to agree that they are mean .
Fwr posters arrive to defend themselves ( in a manly fashion apparently) , and this then descends into an argument where the fwr posters are meanies because they just won't admit to being mean and stop defending themselves.
Is that about right?

ShireMaiden · 28/01/2025 17:35

I disagree with people in FWR because I have a problem with the way they talk about trans people. Not because I want trans women in single sex spaces.

But what you were complaining about was people posting, then getting asked questions that they refused to answer. You consider this bullying but being asked questions is, y'know, part of having a debate. If people don't want to debate, why bother posting?
