There's just so much of it. If you want to keep the over 60's over here, could we address these hateful posts in a timely manner. One in particular has been reported a while ago. Still there.

Think some of you have mistaken "site stuff" for flouncer's corner.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/01/2024 16:12

I think everyone should now have a pm. Not sure about Squirrel.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/01/2024 16:13

@BiscuitsandPuffin and that's all you have to contribute? Okaaayyy....

BeadedBubbles · 17/01/2024 16:13

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants - have also reported that post. So bloody ignorant.

Humphriescushion · 17/01/2024 16:13

Can I have a pm please?

The ageism on here is absolutely shocking. Here’s the reply I got when I reported one such ageist comment.

Hi, and thanks for your report.

The post you’ve reported doesn’t break our Talk Guidelines so we wouldn’t remove it on that basis. (It DID break talk guidelines imo).

From our perspective, there’s always room for nuance but we cannot delete posts just because they mention someone’s age. In addition, with these posts in particular, the poster has pointed out that she isn’t referring to age.

If you think a post is unfair you can always explain your position directly on the boards - as mentioned in our guidelines, our policy is to keep intervention to a minimum and let the conversation flow.

We hope this explains our position but let us know of anything is unclear.

It’s especially bad when you report something at night, they go off to look and never come back with an answer.

spearthatbroc · 17/01/2024 16:19

to be fair Op, going by your posting history you are not averse to posting rather ageist comments about the younger generation and how it’s a “generation” thing (your holiday with your DSD for example?)

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/01/2024 16:25

You can't beat an advanced search can you! Not debating that here. If that's all you have to contribute? That must have taken you a while?

OP posts:
spearthatbroc · 17/01/2024 16:25

and all the hideous “snowflake weddings” you’ve been to? (your words)

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/01/2024 16:26

And it's considered bad form, but I'm sure you know that...

Key word: snowflake

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/01/2024 16:27

Is it getting a bit bitchy now?

i do indeed

but bad form means bugger all rarely of mumsnet provides the facility freely

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/01/2024 16:28

If you specifically advance searched the word 'snowflake' then you have an agenda of your own apparently.

Is it getting a bit bitchy now?

so that is your response when i simply point out that you have been patently ageist in other threads

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/01/2024 16:29

Are you a bit bored? You seem a bit angry.

indeed

someone start a thread about something that they are indignant about, it is interesting to see how their posting history goes

and yours was… interesting

and also a little ironic 😂

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/01/2024 16:32

I'm not going to engage with you anymore, but I wonder who hurt you today? Who pissed on your chips?

Much of the spite of the younger generation seems to be levelled at the Boomer generation, especially those who have inherited.
They seem to think that the parents of the boomer generation had it easy.
They actually didn't, but instead of all.the entitled whinging we here so much of nowadays, they just got on with it.

Sorry, on a thread about ageism, is this comment not well, ageist?

bessytedsy · 17/01/2024 16:35

I find it odd that ageism isn’t age specific but weirdly some think ageism is a thing that only happens to older generations. I’ve seen lots of generalisations about younger generations. Also sometimes there seems to be a disconnect between what’s actually said. eg saying certain generations had better house price vs salaries is interpreted as that is was easy. Or some seem to struggle with statistical evidence because it’s not reflective of them.

spearthatbroc · 17/01/2024 16:35

i’m not surprised you are not going engage with someone who has merely pointed some examples of you posting in a derogatory manner about the “snowflake” generation and how younger generation (your DSD) doesn’t have the respect for older people that your generation did

but i will leave you be now. Just rather interesting and made me chuckle

WhimsicalMoth · 17/01/2024 16:35

There's a lot of ageism on an active thread at the moment that I replied first on.
I'm early twenties and it absolutely boggles my mind that others my age and a bit older would have such weird views on people over a certain age 😵‍💫

bessytedsy · 17/01/2024 16:35

@thisfilmisboring it is & proves my point! 😁
