To be bored of the trans hate?

1000 replies

DaisyUpsy · 10/07/2023 09:54

Ok, there are extremists (like the punch people in the face person), extremists can be found in many areas of life but is anyone else fed up of the trans stuff constantly being dragged up?

I've seen some ridiculous statements on here recently. Everything gets something added related to trans when it's totally irrelevant. It's getting boring. Trans extremists are not the norm so can we stop pretending they are?

YANBU, it’s why most under 30’s don’t touch this site with a barge pole. Needlessly hateful, but then again the general demographic on AIBU especially feeds into it

Iamnobirdandnonetensresme · 10/07/2023 09:56

With respect, I disagree. I work in the public sector and the influence of the trans lobby is huge and incredibly damaging to women, children and safeguarding.

PeachesOnTheBeaches · 10/07/2023 09:56

Unfortunately it’s seeped into our society. Into our schools. And it’s dangerous.

Where I work we have 7 trans teenagers. I’m sorry, but no. They’re not all genuinely trans. It’s a dangerous bandwagon they’ve been brainwashed into.

I feel very sorry for the genuinely trans people there are out there, but it’s gone too far now and something has to be done.

VladsPants · 10/07/2023 09:56

YABVU.

If you’re not angry, you’re not paying attention.

EnjoyingTheSilence · 10/07/2023 09:57

I’m bored of all hate, but am particularly concerned about the threats to women’s safety and rights

2mummies1baby · 10/07/2023 09:57

YANBU

SlipperyLizard · 10/07/2023 09:58

Trans extremists are not the norm?

Is that why women’s groups can’t meet without full security and thugs outside intimidating them?

Is that why so many women have had to take legal action to secure their right to believe in reality?

Extremism absolutely is the norm.

Only one side is issuing rape and death threats. That’s the hate to be worrying about.

Cornettoninja · 10/07/2023 09:59

Extremists at both ends bore me at this point.

This is a relatively new social phenomenon (at least the visibility of it and the medical options available). It’s being reduced to ‘you’re the baddie’, ‘I know you are, what am I?’ when actually we need balanced voices in the debate over emotive ones.

I definitely lean more towards what GC is defined as but like buggery would I associate myself with them. Utterly blinkered and absent of any grey areas. As are the trans activists.

The whole new ideology is ‘extremism’ though. I don’t know one person who had issues with transgenderism until recently. Transitioning children, abusing women for their views, people being told that they aren’t welcome in groups/companies/events for having anything that’s even deemed close to gender critical views. The underhanded grooming of autistic and traumatised young people online. The massive massive amounts of homophobia and misogyny that is being essentially celebrated in the mainstream. Literally questioning anything around recent trans movements is considered transphobia. Isn’t that in itself concerning?

Sugaristheenemy · 10/07/2023 10:00

Depends what you mean by hate I suppose. The extremists may be a minority but they seem to have a lot of clout and seem quite keen to trample over women’s rights. If challenging that is hate then 🤷‍♀️

Jerabilis · 10/07/2023 10:00

I wish I was in a privileged enough position to be bored of the hatred too many men have towards women.

rosetintedmemories2023 · 10/07/2023 10:00

Agree I am so bored of it. My SIL who has a 8 month old baby is now worried that her child will get a gender change operation without her consent cos of the trans lobby. Baby can't even walk yet. Meanwhile SIL lives in insecure private rental with v few rights (not in the UK) and no way to buy her own property.

If you ask me, what would make a bigger difference is secure housing for her child. Politicians are just using this as a distraction from the really important issues that need to be solved that affect people's lives in a much more significant way like housing and healthcare. Its a lot easier to say stuff on culture issues than offer up real solutions to real problems

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 10/07/2023 10:00

Yanbu. Everyone is aware of the issue now. It's gone beyond "legitimate concerns" and become a hysterical moral panic. Time to move on.

BibbleandSqwauk · 10/07/2023 10:01

I'm more concerned about the fact that anyone who dares who point put that the emperor is naked gets villified and called "phobic". There was a case a year or so ago of a 6th form girl who questioned a speaker about trans issues at her school - was bullied, called transphobic and ended up sitting her A levels at home. Totally fine for people to call themselves whatever they like, wear whatever they like etc, but at some point, as with ALL rights (eg free speech) it butts up against someone else's right and a choice has to be made. I'll choose biological reality over a preference anytime.

IAmSalmaFuckingHayek · 10/07/2023 10:01

YABU.
Thank god there are women working tirelessly to try to retain women’s rights.

Anyone not concerned is ignoring what’s going on.

I understand some of the concerns. Unfortunately the way some (not all) people are going about things is quite extremist in itself and won't encourage anyone to listen to anything valid, it's just obliterated by the pure hatefulness.

That’s where I am too. There’s no nuance on either side.

How are they being extreme? Can you give me 5 examples?

aSofaNearYou · 10/07/2023 10:02

Nah I think YABU. I used to think as you did, but when you start engaging with the debate more you start seeing what the problem is.

I do agree with you on people bringing it up on threads where it's not relevant, but you could say that about anything really.

Meeting · 10/07/2023 10:03

YABVU.

Do you think they're bored of trying to strip women of our rights?
Do you think they're bored of stealing medals and trophies from women in sports?
Do you think they're bored of erasing the words we use to describe ourselves?
Do you think they're bored of parading around naked in front of children?

endofthelinefinally · 10/07/2023 10:03

Tipping teenaged girls into menopause 30 years too early is abuse IMO. We should be worried about it if we have any care about safeguarding children.

RebulahConundrum · 10/07/2023 10:03

I try to avoid the whole issue because it seems too risky if you say the wrong thing, whatever the wrong thing is. I just don't understand why there is hate towards trans people when surely the real enemy is cis men abusing changes in rules that are meant to benefit trans people in order to abuse women.
