Hi,

The Nicola Bulley thread must have been hidden overnight by nightwatch. I wasn't on it at the time to see what happened.
Are we allowed the post back or are we not allowed to discuss it now?

If you're including me as one of them, I think that's unfair. I didn't post anything ableist or any personal attack on anyone.

I did say that I find the nature and tone and VOLUME of the discussion unsettling - which I do - but I accept I should have probably just left it alone.

No, I'm not included you
You have been respectful

It's so backwards that whole threads get pulled because some posters are abusive. Why can't the posters be dealt with and our thread stand?

I reported quite a few posts, I guess MumsNet reaches a limit and then shuts down the thread maybe automatically. I suspect those seeking to stamp out benign discussion are doing it deliberately to get as many reports as they can.

Llovecookies · 12/02/2023 19:33

I'm not one to get upset but the messages on that other thread have just about finished me off today. You offer support to someone and get abuse. Anyway I will say it again, anyone that's dealing with an autistic child today (and any other day) you are doing a fantastic job.

Shewasnthere · 12/02/2023 19:32

@Jourdain11 you did call us all weirdos no?

She did but didn't carry it on like the others.
The language and vitriol from the others is a disgrace.

@Jourdain11 you contributed to most of the negative posts on the last thread. You openly voiced how outraged you were about the thread but refused to post anything else. You were goady to say the least. It's very hard to tell if you want to be apart of discussion or closing of the threat.

OnthePisteAgain · 12/02/2023 19:34

It's not been pulled just because of those few posters. Some of the the comments about PA are absolutely unacceptable. Diagnosing him as autistic?? Or if not guilty? And you are surprised the thread was pulled!

Shewasnthere · 12/02/2023 19:35

@ofwarren yes on thread 8 she wasn't but thread 7 defo

Report them then! I do

I did not.

I actually posted that I - and probably others - would be more interested to discuss MP cases, specifically women, and how they are handled more generally. And water safety issues, since I come to realise that I and a lot of people are pretty clueless about what is and isn't risky or dangerous.

If I said weirdos I apologise, but it's genuinely not a word I ever use. I don't think you can find any example of me being ableist or specifically vitriolic towards anyone.

Shewasnthere · 12/02/2023 19:42

@Jourdain11 conveniently your posts from thread 7 have been deleted.
I won't argue about it. I know what I read and why I kept quoting and replying to your posts. But I'm not one to hold a grudge if you want to start again in a different light I'm happy to move on.

Shewasnthere · 12/02/2023 19:45

@Jourdain11 yes you did mention you'd come on thinking you'd find posts such as water safety. So let's keep this factual. It wasn't myself or the main posters spouting BS. I also live near water and worry I don't know enough about the elements

I don't think almost any of my posts were deleted and I definitely never called anyone a weirdo. It's not something I ever say. I did say stupid, which was unkind, and I think that post was rightly deleted.

Shewasnthere · 12/02/2023 19:50

@Jourdain11 you came on to say you were in nice terms unsettled by the thread. I think I quoted and replied to you about 8 times in total. I wouldn't do that if you were posting discussion type things. But like I said I'm happy to move on if you want to move on from thread 7 and discuss factual things. We will forget 8 ever happened because it was absolutely disgusting but not from you.

OnthePisteAgain · 12/02/2023 19:50

@Jourdain11 did not call anyone a weirdo. It was another poster who's name I can't remember. I replied to the post and told them they were OTT.

Exactly. I have kids and we walk on the waterways often. Beyond knowing that it's probably a bad idea to fall in, I have no idea what the risks would be or what you should/shouldn't do if you did.

I wondered if she'd heard something and thought there was a person or animal in trouble. But I have no idea how likely or unlikely danger would be if you fell into that water as a result.

Shewasnthere · 12/02/2023 19:52

@Jourdain11 I do recall a post from someone that said a family member said she is the type of person that wants to rescue animals.

I too have no idea what I'd do if I got into trouble in water and I am a so called good swimmer

She had apparently rescued a sheep further up the river in the past. Its a possibility.

That's always the case I think
That's why I try to share from them all, even the crappy mail.

@Jourdain11 from what we've seen of the river. When I first heard of this case, and the river i imagined a fast flowing, deep river. But that's not what has been portrayed at all. It honestly looks like if you slipped down the bank, you wouldn't get enough momento to get to the water and if you did, you would be met with shallow water and you'd just stand back up.

Jourdain11 · 12/02/2023 20:04

People can act impulsively if they thing someone/something is in great danger and they don't perceive their action as being a major risk to themselves. I was convinced I heard a woman screaming outside and was all ready to run out the other night. After 30 secs I realised a) it was a fox and b) it wouldn't have been a very sensible course of action.

Shewasnthere · 12/02/2023 20:09

@Jourdain11 I get what you're saying but also we have to think about the time scale. Someone averaged it out that in the time scale, NB would have been seen every 10 to 12 minutes. If there was something that was making a noise in trouble, someone else would have heard it too, surly?

Shewasnthere · 12/02/2023 20:12

Also, just to add balance. There are drowning stages and it can take someone 10-12 mins to drown to death. But I truly believe the police in the river on the day would have found her or an item of her clothing that day if she was there.
