And ban anyone who starts a thread complaining about MN.
Some days, the whole board is crocs, AIBU and moaning about MN nowadays. Just BAN people!
You see! Being thoroughly unreasonable is GOOD sometimes....

whomovedmychocolate · 12/05/2007 22:01

Blu - I'm with you on that and the style thread just annoys me for no apparent reason.

Tamum · 12/05/2007 22:01

Now there's an idea, Blu. A "without any more sodding crocs" button would do for now though. Agree about the clubs, too, and it would stop rows about their titles.

tortoiseSHELL · 12/05/2007 22:02

Definitely get rid of it! It's basically an invitation to whine!

And 50% of them are 'AIBU, some one took the last P&C parking space and I HAD TO PARK 10 METRES AWAY FROM THE SHOP'

maisym · 12/05/2007 22:05

love this section

clutteredup · 12/05/2007 22:07

sorry to disagree but somtimes you just need a good rant and a comforting there there - we could call it have a rant or something instead - mn is a good place to get stuff off your chest anonymously rather than destroying friendships and relationships at home - i know its not the express purpose of mn but its good therapy and surly that counts for something

clutteredup · 12/05/2007 22:08

i meant surely, it was me being surly

There has never been any shortage of ranting and venting on MN, though. But since the AIBU section, people seem to rise to the challenge of ranting and venting about the most trivial possible reason, without taking any personal responsibility for taking a deep breath and getting things in perspective.

It seems to lure perfectly sensible MN-ers into a state of renewed toddlerdom!

Furrymummy · 12/05/2007 22:20

I don't agree. However I think having an option to remove it from active convos is an excellent idea.

MrsWho · 12/05/2007 23:39

ROWAN-use find new messages instead , you can pick which topics you want to see there.

pucca · 12/05/2007 23:42

Just out of interest...to all of you who are saying get rid, have you never posted on AIBU?

Skribble · 12/05/2007 23:43

I like the fact it is all in one section and not all over the site, (well OK you still get it in other places) place to rant I suppose.

get rid of it! it encourages a right/wrong unthinking response rather than discussion.

Flamesparrow · 13/05/2007 00:12

Yup, I've posted on it... only cos its there though really!

Take it away

AitchTwoOh · 13/05/2007 00:17

if we must have it, then at least call it MN Jury so it's not a yes/no thing. (make it guilty/not guilty and send 'em dahn. )

also, on digitalspy, a site i occasionally read, they do ask that all discussions on the same topic are kept on the same thread, more or less. i've felt that might have been a good policy in the last few days...

SofiaAmes · 13/05/2007 05:46

I think the AIBU topic is the BEST. I don't understand why people who don't like it just don't read it. Personally I can't stand laminate flooring (I think it's cheap and nasty)....doesn't mean I think it should be banned. I just don't choose to put it in my house. The snobbery in thinking that because you don't like something means nobody else can enjoy it. If AIBU was a flop then nobody would post on it. But that's not the case.

LadyTophamHatt · 13/05/2007 06:10

I don't like it either.

I prefer the way it used to be.

I see the neww AIBU topic as a joke topic really.

(Sofia, I dislike laminate too and am living in laminate hell in this house. Previous owners obviously loved it though!! )

Miaou · 13/05/2007 08:36

Well I have quite liked the AIBU topic, but reading though some of the comments (particularly about the adversarial element it introduces, and Blu's comment of 22:13 really struck a chord) - and I'm seeing where people are coming from and beginning to change my opinion.

In conclusion - I agree - get rid

Regarding the other point about more tick boxes etc to block views of post/antenatal clubs from view - can we not have an option to personalise our own active convos? In the same way that if you do a search, you select the subjects you want to search in, can we select the subjects we want to show in active convos and somehow save those options? Is that possible, Tech? Then everyone could see what they wanted to see ...

ThatBeetroot · 13/05/2007 08:47

please get rid of it - t

lucykate · 13/05/2007 08:52
