Why has Stratters been banned for reporting suspected Trolls as per MN policy?

Long standing, sensible poster.

Says she didn't troll hunt on the threads but reported. And has been banned for over reporting? Hardly her fault if there's lots of trolls to report?

Totally puts me off reporting any suspicions I have.

I must say I do not agree with their banning process

You just can't log in and you have no idea if you've been banned, suspended or your internet is fucked

You email them asking what's happened and they take a while replying if ever.

It's not an ideal solution at all

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 07/08/2017 10:44

We have no idea what this poster did/reported/said..... mnhq will know. But obviously won't share it with us

There MUST be more to this than her just reporting a suspected troll.

SparklyMagpie · 07/08/2017 10:47

DixieNormas thanks, thought i may have got wires crossed

theporcinegrappler · 07/08/2017 10:48

Personally I don't give a fuck if I get banned, it's very easy to just open a new account
Well I do give a fuck because censorship it is very insulting

theporcinegrappler · 07/08/2017 10:50

Insulting the people who create the content for this board is not going to make them behave and obey the management

PurpleDaisies · 07/08/2017 10:50

Thanks madmags, reading now.

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 07/08/2017 10:50

It's looking like mouldies 2 will be happening shortly..

MaureenDodd · 07/08/2017 10:51

Mumsnet is just in it for the ad revenue now

By Parents for Money - New tagline.

Sold out.

reuset · 07/08/2017 10:51

Really, for over reporting? I didn't know that was a thing. That would seem a bit much.

QuinoaKeen · 07/08/2017 10:52

Also posting in support of Stratters and the need for clarification in this situation.

SoPassRemarkable · 07/08/2017 10:52

I think if they ban you don't they ban your IP address so that makes it hard to reregister?

OP posts:
SoPassRemarkable · 07/08/2017 10:54

And while I don't know what Stratters may have said or done I know what she's said she's done. And I believe her. I've known her for years including irl and she's one of the straightest talking people I know. If she'd done something "naughty" I reckon she would have said.

I'd like clarification too.

Just posted on the other thread that will no doubt be deleted. HQ have always been very clear that you report trolls, and they love reports.

What has changed? A poster was reportedly told by HQ to 'raise your concerns on the thread' - which is exactly the opposite to normal HQ advice.

Well this is all rather disconcerting.

Don't troll hunt.
Don't send too many reports of trolls or you'll be banned.

Confused
CoolCarrie · 07/08/2017 10:59

It makes me laugh to see that this hullabaloo isn't on the discussions of the day slot!
They think we are all going to forget about this farce and clearly seem to think least said, soonest mended which isn't correct in this case as people are out of pocket

MadnessAbounds · 07/08/2017 11:00

Completely mad. Sad

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 07/08/2017 11:03

I suspect that they are having to tread very carefully, and are acting on legal advice if this individual was using their website as a medium to extract money, i.e. fraud

I suspect there is more to this

MrsBungle · 07/08/2017 11:04

This is all madness Confused

fairgame84 · 07/08/2017 11:07

Quite a few long time members have been banned recently. It's crap. MN seems to be unintentionally (I hope) supporting trolls at the expense of genuine members.

Polter · 07/08/2017 11:08

It does feel that way fairgame

ChocolateBubbleBarsmakemefat · 07/08/2017 11:09

Oh ffs that is ridiculous. She's not a goady poster and was only doing what we are all advised to do. MNHQ sort yourselves out!

Wolfiefan · 07/08/2017 11:12

I too would like clarification. I'm someone who will report dodgy threads and posters. Will this get me banned?
