Why has Stratters been banned for reporting suspected Trolls as per MN policy?

SoPassRemarkable · 07/08/2017 10:23

Long standing, sensible poster.

Says she didn't troll hunt on the threads but reported. And has been banned for over reporting? Hardly her fault if there's lots of trolls to report?

Totally puts me off reporting any suspicions I have.

Bloody hell.

But there ARE trolls everywhere these days. Proper scammers, sex trolls, journos, you name it.

I thought we were supposed to report dodgy stuff?

Patchworkpals · 07/08/2017 10:28

I think we do need clarification on the HQ. Can we be banned for reporting too much?

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 07/08/2017 10:29

I think she reported same one over and over.... even after mnhq had said that particular poster checked out and wasn't a troll......she still continued reporting...

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 07/08/2017 10:29

I don't understand this at all. I thought reporting was the right thing to do?

SoPassRemarkable · 07/08/2017 10:30

I'd certainly like clarification. And to be honest I was worried that by starting this thread that I'm going to get banned too. So if you don't see me about after today you know why.

ShockShock banned for reporting suspensions WTF has happened here!! If it wasn't serious I'd be asking HQ if they are on glue???

ProudBadMum · 07/08/2017 10:31

I would say that it's likely they are trying to get rid of the old timers as they don't care anymore. They love the trolls it seems and posters who have been around for a while won't stay quiet.

But I won't say that as it could probably get me banned as I've heard long term posters are getting banned permanently for disagreeing with HQ or reporting trolls.

Oh okay then, so lots of reports about one thread. Well she obviously had serious concerns and the advice is to keep reporting.

I thought MNHQ 'loved reports'. I've certainly read that more than a few times.

Polter · 07/08/2017 10:33

I believe Samcro was banned for similar.

LineBot · 07/08/2017 10:34

It's all a bit shit, isn't it?

Even if she was reporting one thread a lot, I don't see why that would be cause for banning if she wasn't troll hunting on the thread.

If this has happened exactly as stated it's horrendously unfair. Plenty of posters seem to get away with troll hunting on the thread nothing seems to happen. To ban someone for doing the right thing and reporting is awful.

SoPassRemarkable · 07/08/2017 10:35

She says she was banned last week after reporting a different poster. Not the one she had reported previously.

Though she didn't get an email telling her why she was banned so maybe MN think they have a different reason?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 07/08/2017 10:36

It's shite and if this mumsnet don't try to offer at least a half decent explanation about the thread in question and the treatment of Stratters then this place really has gone to the dogs.

Soubriquet · 07/08/2017 10:37

If this is true, this is very poor form MNHQ

You ask us to report our concerns and not troll hunt

Yet the troll hunters get a warning and proper reports are banned

MadMags · 07/08/2017 10:37

I was banned for a week before and I had no email. I had to email them, then had to wait about three days after my ban time for them to actually reinstate my posting privileges.

I still maintain I said nothing ban-worthy.

hazeyjane · 07/08/2017 10:37

Bloody hell. I purposely report without 'feeding trolls' by posting, and would continually report if I considered someone was trying to scam/goad/de fraud or make the lives of other posters more miserable. I thought that was Doing The Right Thing.

PurpleDaisies · 07/08/2017 10:38

Though she didn't get an email telling her why she was banned so maybe MN think they have a different reason?

I got banned by mistake once. Maybe it's the same for starters.

MadMags · 07/08/2017 10:38

But, yes, the reddit thread is a real eye-opener!

PurpleDaisies · 07/08/2017 10:39

Do you have to register to read the Reddit thread?

NauticalDisaster · 07/08/2017 10:39

I think MNHQ needs to answer this. Is it how someone reports that might get them banned? e.g. Getting too heated. Is it the number of times someone reports? Please give us the guidelines.

SparklyMagpie · 07/08/2017 10:42

It's all gone to shit hasn't it?

On the subject of banned posters, no idea if i'm right but i'm sure i read something that AnyFucker was banned?

Not seen her post for a while, is this true does anyone know?
