What actually are your plans to deal with disablism on MN?

You remember you were going to impliment all kinds of things, Message which explained posts were deleted due to disablism, Emails to the posters, proactive buzzwords...

a year on what has been the result of this massive change in moderation?

Now i'm not suggesting this was a carrot, dangled to try and stop people leaving....
But we donkeys ARE getting a little tired of walking and woudl like to know what plans are there for the future to stop attacks.

Cause it's during the week at the mo....

Just be careful if it's tall about getting into car parks - they have the dodgiest height restrictions on some of them. We wouldn't want you damaging the roof of your free car whilst trying to get a free parking space near the shops now would we

I really do think some people live in a box. They take for granted the fact if they want to leave the house and get on a train/bus or whatever just because they decide to - that they actually can.

Seriously though, people who troll like this will always exist. I do have sympathy for MNHQ, as even on this thread posters can't agree about the best method of dealing with them (lock thread v deletion v specific deletion message v ignoring etc) so it is a difficult situation. I also do see their point about deliberately being a twat goady v not realising and saying something offensive, poster being told and apologising and mending their ways.

I do think the latter situation does allow some goady fuckers to be all wide eyed "free cars and a goat but I've seen them at the gym can this be right, come and tell me about all the disabled twats you have seen at the gym?" under the radar, but again this is the GF at fault, not MNHQ. I do also think people being able to re-reg needs addressing however.

I think what I am trying to say is that I can see that there is a line MNHQ are trying to tread - the problem is we all draw the line in different places. It's worth thinking about the fact people are praising Netmums for their ability to ban both trolls and offensive words etc, but we are all still here and not on Netmums I think that is because MN is much better and I do love the honesty, swearing and wit of many MNers. The light touch moderation is what gives MN its appeal to many and I think we have to accept that as a flip side of this, there will be things we at. I made a resolution some time ago to "report and hide" and the benefit to my mental health is huge.

I think trolls need addressing at source and banning PBPs Properly is the way forward, then hopefully the arguments on how to deal with hateful posts will lessen as a consequence.

most people have been banned from netmums, that's how they know it's really hard to sign back up.

The report and hide is great for you, FloofY, doesn't stop the pms that some of us are getting, though.
