You remember you were going to impliment all kinds of things, Message which explained posts were deleted due to disablism, Emails to the posters, proactive buzzwords...

a year on what has been the result of this massive change in moderation?

Now i'm not suggesting this was a carrot, dangled to try and stop people leaving....
But we donkeys ARE getting a little tired of walking and woudl like to know what plans are there for the future to stop attacks.

OP posts:

Hopefully HQ will not delete the thread as we are actually getting somewhere.

Bubblesagain · 11/07/2017 10:56

Certain posters here act like an asshole and hide behind their disability. This is not hate speech. Why do you get to attack people but you hate it when you are getting attacked back?

Hmm Have you actually read the thread? If you had you would see it is about hate speech, some of the views and posts in other sections of the site, the persistent trolls is about disabilism, it's not hiding behind anything to contest this views and ask what mumsnet can do to help.
Also why hide behind a name change for that post?

Saucery · 11/07/2017 10:56

Nah, they'll get deleted and banned.

Dawndonnaagain · 11/07/2017 10:58

see? you are being an asshole again when someone just wants a conversation
This morning's pm. So, it's the same person that keeps being banned.

Samcro · 11/07/2017 10:59

oh gosh so they are pm you Dawn that is awful

Saucery · 11/07/2017 10:59

They really need to sort this for you, Dawn.

Dawndonnaagain · 11/07/2017 11:03

I have just pointed out to hq that this has been going on since Saturday.
I'm not the only one it's happening to, either.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 11/07/2017 11:09

In an ideal world (ha!) it'd be nice if something could be done about (paraphrased) "look at you all, attacking the op" when nothing resembling "attacking" has taken place. People getting all melodramatic about PARD being an attack.

Comes up a lot on disability related threads, but also on others too

Polter · 11/07/2017 11:09

Bloody hell Dawn, this is dreadful AngryFlowers

miss let me correct that for you:
Certain posters here act like arseholes and hide behind namechanges

Dawndonnaagain · 11/07/2017 11:13

I just got a lovely pm from someone because they thought I needed a nice one; telling me to get cake, and being really supportive and kind.
Thank you!
Flowers

SumThucker · 11/07/2017 11:34

Again?! Why is Dawn being attacked again, can't MNHQ block the person sending the messages?! I also don't believe a 'new' poster would be posting in site stuff, so the latest nasty one is either a cowardly name-changer or a PBP.

Why are they still allowed to post?! Angry

FeralBeryl · 11/07/2017 11:36

Do HQ not ban IP addresses? Is it only each user?
I know this wouldn't stop the very determined dickheads, but for the common and garden troll surely them having to leave home to abuse would stop them?

FeralBeryl · 11/07/2017 11:36

Disclaimer* I'm a total Luddite!

Dawndonnaagain · 11/07/2017 11:37

Unfortunately Feral changing your ip address is as simple as unplugging your router for five minutes!

SumThucker · 11/07/2017 11:38

Me too Feral, I'd just presume in 2017 they had the capabilities to completely block?!

professorvanvonsteinenburg · 11/07/2017 11:43

I think Netmums must have a system which compares things like location, operating system isp and browser to stop people resigning up.
When all 3 match it's likely to be the person who was banned 24 hours ago with the same set of details.

They probably also have a list of blacklisted proxy Ip's which they stop sign ups from.

It's not full proof but it's better than a system which bans only the email addresses.

BishopBrennansArse · 11/07/2017 11:46

Sum - they exist. Netmums has a pretty good system. But for some reason they won't implement similar here.

So that's the fourth time over four days the same individual has troll stalked Dawn Angry

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 11/07/2017 11:48

HQ, do you know what the differences are between your banning systems and NMs?

Obviously I know a lot of it is TSSDNCOP, but I just mean in the vague sense of knowing what the differences are, rather than asking you what they are Grin

professorvanvonsteinenburg · 11/07/2017 11:49

It's easy to get a persons very rough location, Screen resolution, operating system and Browser from their ip address. If a system is in place to match this with a set of information from a banned user it'll be much harder to sign back up right away.

professorvanvonsteinenburg · 11/07/2017 12:26

Mumsnet have zapped that post.

Ghostofasmile · 11/07/2017 12:44

Good!

BishopBrennansArse · 11/07/2017 12:45

Shame they can't zap that particular individual permanently. It's the same person.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 11/07/2017 12:47

Perhaps with a cattle prod... :)
