SLOW! It's so fucking slow now, I can't even get long threads to load any more

It's beyond a joke now, vast swathes of MN are now totally inaccessible to me. Can we PLEASE sort this out?

if you have an older iPhone or iPad it won't let you update to the latest iOS (whatever that is) it says you have insufficient something or other.

Its a vicious circle with the answer being to upgrade your still-working device at a cost of God know's what?

I'm on now using a laptop.
I have an ipad using mobile version which doesn't work, and an iphone on latest ios which doesn't work.
Been going on for days now, I'm about ready to give up on MN to be honest.

Oh right - insufficient storage probably Miss D. Annoying. It was just a thought.

TBF it would be nice if MN could just, you know, actually fix it without having to download an ad blocker.

My iPad (which already had the latest update on it) wouldn't load MN at all this morning, so I left it for a while, then remembered what other people had said on this thread previously, so I downloaded AdBlockerPlus, and now it's fine.
Fingers crossed it's not just a coincidence!

I can only access the site through a laptop, my iPad and iPhone having been rendered obsolete by MN.

The amount of ads has gone crazy, (speaking as one who remembers when all this was fields) some of them hurt my eyes!

I've had a search but can't find an add blocker for my old iPad. It's a shame becaseu MN is unusable after about the first 5 mins. It is fine on OK newer iPhone though but prefer browsing in my iPad!

I installed the latest iPad update I was offered and it made no difference and still says the ad blocker is not compatible. You need a 64bit device as well as latest iOS from what I can tell from google. I'm browsing through Puffin now, but extremely pissed off I have to do that or give up, it's absolutely not acceptable.

I have the same issue as Steppinstone. Last 24 hours at least on iPhone six using safari. If I can manage to open a thread it freezes and I can't scroll down or go backward to active threads I have to shut safari down entirely

If you have the original iPad, you can't update it beyond (I think) iOS 5, and AdBlockers were only introduced for iOS 9 and later.

IPad 2 can be updated to iOS 9.3.5, which should allow ad blockers, but there is an added complication, that most blockers in the App Store are for 64-bit processors, which are iPad Air, iPhone 5s (but not the 5c) and iPad mini2, or later. If you Google AdBlocker 32bit, you will find some intended for the earlier devices, but there do seem to be problems when you look at the reviews.

I've managed to download an ad blocker for my four year old iPad. It seems to be working, albeit a bit reluctantly.

It's the one in the App Store with half a red shield and half a globe on. You have to click on it once it's downloaded and use it as a browser. Don't go into safari or anything else. It's free as well.

I have ad block plus , but MN still freezes all the time .still using windows 7 (but no probs with any other site) and Firefox.. its driving me batty..

I'm getting really pissed off with this. Every time I think it's resolved it starts crashing again.

also have you notices itthe site flasheds up stuff like says things like 'waiting for adcrwd - something' , and 'waiting for you tube'.. its got to be all the associated layers of stuff that slows the site down , even if you try and block it with adblocker .

MN Please cant we have MN 'lite' option.. with none of this added stuff just the boards? .. id be happy to pay a monthly subscription to not have all these additional bits..

yes and 'waiting for face book, pinterest , google ', I dont want/use any of that stuff , never look at it , why is it all linked ?

Also waiting for 'twitter' 'j925,net' (or something ) .. No wonder its all gets so ruddy slow.. ( right now on this post it isnt strangely) , but several times this evenin , ive had enough time to make a cuppa while its been loading

This is driving me crazy. I use a mac and iPhone (but not the app) and MN has ground to a halt. It keeps loading blank pages or half loading a page. I don't have add blocker and it makes no difference how long the thread is that I'm trying to load, it hangs on the homepage as much as anywhere else.

Please sort it out soon as I am drifting away

What is all this stuff that the site links to MN? Is this what is slowing it down so much?

I think the 'skimsources' must be the new 'feature' which links threads in when you mention a name in a thread like asda..

Ah, other MNetters with the exact same problem as me (yes, also ipad and safari)! I have resorted to the app until tech sort this out, following email advice from mnhq, but I find it very limiting.

This is the first time i have manged to get the site to load all day.
There seems to be an overload of advertising which is making the site unreadable.
