Update to webchat guest colours

Hi,
This is a heads up that we're soon to introduce a change to the colours used to highlight posts on desktop and mobile.

If you've been around long enough to have the old style customised colours this won't affect you.

For newer users - we needed to add some new web chat guest colours and retire the awful mustard yellow we used in the past on desktop webchats. As a result of that we then needed to update our other colours too.

Why would anyone think a group of strong willed vipers would want pastel? Odd decision. Please make the colours darker, otherwise you might as well not bother.

The pink is so pale you can't tell posts apart.

Or is it yellow? So pale it's basically off white!

I was customised too, now it's all meh and not at all clear. I want my strong colours back please

I had pink for me and purple for OP posts, both vibrant stand out colours. Now they are a horrible washed out pale yellow and green, blink and you miss them... I hate change!

You can't skim through a long post anymore to find OPs updates. It's white then magnolia impossible to spot!

It's bad enough you took away the android app without bothering to replace (yeah yeah I know "it's coming") thereby forcing me to use the mobile site. And now these colours are just pointless. You can't see them when scrolling.

Not rtft but yellow makes me look ill.please can I have my customised green and purple back? Failing that can I ask for bolder colours so I can actually see them.

I thought there was something wrong with my phone at first. I had the old colours - pink or purple but haven't posted anything today so don't know if it's changed for me.

Yes it has changed for me to this really, really pale yellow that I can barely see. Sorry but I don't like it!

I don't particularly care about the actual colours but they are WAY too pale on the mobile site. Haven't checked the desktop site yet.

Okay thanks all, looks like we've narrowed this down to mobile custom and that's where some confusion lies. Colours weren't customisable on mobile even for users who have been around long enough.

We appreciate the feedback on paleness - we do run accessibility checks for contrast and do sense checks across devices and screens but it's your feedback on readability that we rely on so your feedback is really useful.

I'm on the main site on a tablet and the pastel is awful. The contrast is minimal. It's dreadful.

I had customised colours on mine. I mainly use the mobile site but could have customised them on the desktop. But the colours were carried over to the most ile site. Ifyswim! The colours are way too pale and not contrasting enough. On a long threads I like to scroll through quickly for the Op and now I won't be able to this!!

There's such a minimal difference! The old colours were so much more functional

Agree. The colours were the same on the mobile site, I only ever use the mobile site so would have changed them there as well
