Update to webchat guest colours

Hi,
This is a heads up that we're soon to introduce a change to the colours used to highlight posts on desktop and mobile.

If you've been around long enough to have the old style customised colours this won't affect you.

For newer users - we needed to add some new web chat guest colours and retire the awful mustard yellow we used in the past on desktop webchats. As a result of that we then needed to update our other colours too.

Thanks all

On desktop it shows my colours set as op =forest green and my posts =lavender, and on the desktop they are, yet the mobile site the op posts are a weird light colour and mine are a yellow colour.
I'm not using the desktop site on my mobile as it doesn't work properly, especially now with the update.
our yes i can believe it! I've just tried to use it now to see what my settings were and it was impossible!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/10/2016 16:08

Kali I have the same settings and results as you...

Catzpyjamas · 11/10/2016 16:12

Eh, hello! Why has the world gone mamby pamby pastel??? MNHQ posts are a delightful shade of apple green and my posts are lemon yellow!!!???
It's like a baby wool display in an old fashioned shop Hmm

I had nice earthy custom colours before!

Soubriquet · 11/10/2016 16:13

PLEASE DARKEN THE SHADES UP

Change the colours for all I care but they need to be darker. It's just too pale. I struggle to pick out the difference. Someone with sight problems would find it impossible.

Catzpyjamas · 11/10/2016 16:15

Uuggh, just saw that OP posts are pale pink.
Also the mobile site keeps crashing/freezing and I have to open it in a new tab.

Didijustgetwinkpointshitcanned · 11/10/2016 16:15

MY EYES HURT SO BAD.

This is going to kill the mobile site :')

Glastonbury · 11/10/2016 16:19

I don't care what colours you choose but they need to be much brighter. The pale pink is very hard to see.

Tippexy · 11/10/2016 16:19

Please make the shades darker.

OlympicBonfire · 11/10/2016 16:19

Not just the mobile site - the desk top as well 😡

Tippexy · 11/10/2016 16:20

I have a very pale pink for OP and a practically invisible yellow for my own posts.

The colours are too pale for those with sight difficulties. I thought Mumsnet was supposed to be an accessible website?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/10/2016 16:20

Bizarrely my desktop colours have not changed (just mobile) - does anyone else have this?

kali110 · 11/10/2016 16:23

Soubriquet tipp thankyou! I'm struggling to make out where my posts are! These colours are making my head hurt!
it's i'm really sorry for you, but glad imm not the only one!

Tanaqui · 11/10/2016 16:28

I had customised and now have the new ones- they are definitely too pale!

Morifarty · 11/10/2016 16:29

I don't care what colour posts are, I'm not fussy. But at the moment, I can't distinguish between coloured posts and non-coloured posts as the colours are too pale!

DoItTooJulia · 11/10/2016 16:29

Old timer with custom colours. I never tried to change them on mobile, so had default on mobile.

I don't care what colours they are but like all the pp said they just need to be darker although the magnolia is verging on offensive

DangerQuakeRhinoSnake · 11/10/2016 16:30

This is god awful please change it!

Thurlow · 11/10/2016 16:33

Just to to confirm, like others my customized desktop colours had transferred over to the mobile site, but they've now changed.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 11/10/2016 16:44

MNHQ here is my lap top screen shot comparison when selecting the Mobile version Who dreams up this kind of change and thinks it's going to help anyone? Confused

Update to webchat guest colours
Cocolepew · 11/10/2016 16:45

Urgh. I want my pink back Sad

Thurlow · 11/10/2016 16:53

I've just been scanning some threads on my mobile and the main issue isn't the colour so much - I do find it quite nice to read against - but rather that if you try and quickly skim down a thread in a smartphone, then the pink is too pale to jump out at you and you can easily miss OP's posts.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 11/10/2016 16:53

I'm the same as others - custom on desktop (lavender/silver) still the same but the mobile has changed to pastel.

I'm not a fan either, sorry,

MrsHathaway · 11/10/2016 16:58

JessicaMN with respect, you don't know what you're talking about. Could you put Tech on, please.

The suggested New colours are TOO PALE TO BE USABLE. All of them. Including those proposed for Desktop.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 11/10/2016 17:07

Jessica, I'm not sure that's right. I've never had green on the mobile site.

RatOnnaStick · 11/10/2016 17:09

JessicaMN, may I enquire just what bad thing did you do to get designated lamb to the slaughter today?

MNHQ knew this would cause ructions. Anyone with eyes and a mobile can see the colours don't show up well. And everybody knows that MN oldies hate change even if it's a proven benefit (which this isn't).

Are you being hazed?
