Messages all vanishing and now strange new 'report this post' boxes coming up.

Are you tinkering? Smile

Would you care to join me now in hitting our heads on a brick wall Soupy?

Kelly1978 · 21/04/2006 17:19

lol, I think I'll bow out now! Grin

SoupDragon · 21/04/2006 17:20

SG, I@m going to tell someone to f-off in a minute and then i'll have to disappear for a few weeks to calm down :o

Kelly, it may increase the number of reported posts but I can virtually guarnatee that MN Towers won't delete any more than they do already. They have better things to do. I@ve flagged a potentially offensive post with them before and they've reppplied to say they'll keep an eye on the thread and see how it progresses and then they've not deleted anything.

CHICagoMUM · 21/04/2006 17:21

No one asks for posts to be deleted without good reason and I really don't see that by making it easier more people are going to do it.

Kelly1978 · 21/04/2006 17:22

pmsl Grin

SaintGeorge · 21/04/2006 17:22

Nah, don't resort to swearing SD. God forbid, someone will report the post Wink

The damn link has been up now for about 14 and a bit hours. People will get used to it, especially once the cosmetics of how it actually looks are sorted out.

I'll join you SG - I have a funny lump on my forehead that needs flattening out Grin

CHICagoMUM · 21/04/2006 17:24

Don't do it SG and Soupy it doesn't work (you'll just end up with a stonking head ache).

AHHHHHHHHH that's better! Grin

Flamesparrow · 21/04/2006 17:29

Shock The poor bat!!!!!!!

Papillon · 21/04/2006 19:35

whilst recognising its reason, it looks crap and is too in your face

black typeface would tone it down and bring in the dividing line, if it stays as a new feature

hunkermunker · 21/04/2006 21:40

message reported

LipstickMum · 22/04/2006 13:16

SD you're right, it does make it easier for MN to track specific posts rather than wade through all the other stuff.

I also don't think there will be an increase on deleted posts etc. (although, having said that, this does make it a lot easier to complain. Before, if I had thought about objecting to a post I probably would have been too lazy to find out how, now I can do it very easily)

I just feel that it's too in your face, it makes me feel a bit defensive, but I guess all in all it doesn't bother me that much.

JustineMumsnet · 25/04/2006 11:04

Thanks for all the input. (No really Grin). We'll set to work on a suitable icon and/or smaller and less officious text.

To all those with fears of increased intervention, please be assured that isn't our aim, merely a more efficient response on the few occasions when intervention is required. We can happily report also that we haven't received a discernable increase in reported posts as a result of the change.

We do hope that those who are still anti will get used to it and approve of the toned down link when it comes. It really does make life a lot simpler for us (and we think the site will be better run for you too).
Thanks for understanding,
MNHQ

zippitippitoes · 25/04/2006 11:15

when you do change it, the thing which i find intrudes the most is for some reason the vertical tab line..it is like a tic in the corner of my eye(odd I know)Smile

and i entirely see the point of quickly locating particular posts when the need arises

Miaou · 25/04/2006 11:19

oooh you're all lovely at MNTowers Justine Smile- fickle lot, aren't we?

Glad you liked my idea of the wee symbol Wink

Ledodgyherring · 25/04/2006 11:26

To be honest I'm not even noticing any more.

Ledodgyherring · 25/04/2006 11:26

*noticing it.

marthamoo · 25/04/2006 11:26

I'd missed this thread. I noticed the new doodah and it really hasn't bothered me at all. Lol @ whoever said we should have a "compliment this post" to balance it out Grin Let's have a rolling scale of options to react to each post - report this post/compliment this post/bored by this post/spelling and grammar poor in this post/we've done this before repetitive post/parp this post...

On moneysavingexpert (where dh hangs out) there's a little tally by your user name of how many times you've been thanked - so it'll say marthamoo, thanked 356 times in 698 posts. We should have that too Grin

And tickers, and bouncy emoticons, and great big gurning photographs of ourselves and offspring...

Now see, I've out it all into perspective for you, haven't I..it's just a little clicky thing, not the beginning of the end for Mumsnet.

oliveoil · 25/04/2006 11:27

good god, what a load of moaning minnies

shadup and leave them to sort the site out how they see fit

fgs

May I suggest a 'flounce alert!' emoticon, maybe of a woman hitching up her skirts with a pious face (if technically possible)?

Ledodgyherring · 25/04/2006 11:28

That was me marthamoo Grin

cod · 25/04/2006 11:31

woudl LOVE a flounce emoticon
