Why are some members of this site allowed to get away with persistently being vile, pushing an agenda, defending the indefensible, upsetting other members, twisting versions of events and generally being nasty, and they do not get banned?

Not about any one particular poster, but I have noticed that some stronger "personalities" on here seem to be Teflon coated.

Why is this?

Why do the owners of this site want that kind of vile poster and do not seem to care about the number of truly decent kind posters who are being upset and driven off the site?

@hathorisaskingaquestion

The problem is that there is perceived to be a double standard in the moderation applied by HQ.

Well, obviously that's not good, if it's a widely held perception.

We can only assure you that everyone is equal before the delete button.

hathorisaskingaquestion · 04/07/2012 19:35

Tescos? Don't talk to me about fucking Tescos.

I am never shopping there again.

DS had an interview there this week and the barstewards didn't give him a job.

I think I should organise a boycott.

Hath, I don't think there is.

They do what they can within their own guidelines.

hathorisaskingaquestion · 04/07/2012 19:36

I think it's widely held from Mnetters I've talked to, Helen.

Some posters get away with stuff that would get ordinary ones like me deleted and banned quick smart and they are allowed to carry on.

Why?

@TheSecondComing

He he he, ok, so,it's fair to say i am already up shit creek wrt my copybook, Someone might be picking on my posts to try and get me banned... Sad

That thread that was deleted the other night, the utter shitstorming one about rages... There were maybe 2 or 3 deleted posts out of HUNDREDS.

Why did the thread go. It wasn't even that robust (the discussion)

Fraid I've no idea. Had some time off cos my mum was rushed to hospital

But am sure we could find out and come back to you.

UnicornRainbowLove · 04/07/2012 19:37

But personal attacks are not tolerated! You do have to report them and they'll go.

I've been deleted for being rude to people and I've reported people who were rude to me. Confused

Say, for instance, I now said something like: "Oh, FFS, hath, what the fuck is your problem you stupid fucker!" then that would be deleted if you, or someone else, reported it...if, on the other hand I said "oh, FFS Hath, the point you're making is one which is usually only held by people who haven't thought this sort of shit through properly" then I'd be on the safe side of deletion.

I don't think there are ROYALTY who get away with more, i think everyone gets the same treatment across the boards, you've just got to report stuff and then hide the thread if it's bothering you.

hathorisaskingaquestion · 04/07/2012 19:38

I know Hully but it's very frustrating to be reporting and reporting and not receiving a response for days (which has happened not just recently but on a number of occasions) and in the meantime the hatespeak is standing and the thread is still going.

Makes me personally feel it's pointless and that I'm fair game. And the hatespeaker is Teflon-coated.

I kind of understand how you feel OP, I deregged once because I felt I was being gossiped about and slagged off by PM.

I only lasted a week though Blush

UnicornRainbowLove · 04/07/2012 19:39

God I so want to know which thread you're talking about Hath.

Hullygully · 04/07/2012 19:39

Who ARE you unicorn?

Who knows who unicorn is?

LtEveDallas · 04/07/2012 19:39

I can help there Helen. I asked for the thread to be deleted. I wasn't the only one. It had decended into a brawl and a kicking for the OP. It was undignified, nasty and cruel.

usualsuspect · 04/07/2012 19:40

Which thread?

Genuinely sorry to read that, Hath.

Obviously, we are only human - am sure we've made plenty of mistakes and misjudgements - but we do our level best to be fair and to hold our hands up when we've made a bad call.

That said, think you might be mightily surprised to know how many posters have had stern mails - or more - from us.

LtEveDallas · 04/07/2012 19:40

The one TSC is talking about, usual

Pinot · 04/07/2012 19:41

Or, could it be that some posters comments are more noticeable to you because they have previously got on your tits... so they appear to be a gobshite more than the next MNer. Whereas the next MNer is infact just as much as a knobjockey, they are just under your radar?

Or, in more eloquent terms, maybe it's the perception that is skewed not HQ's response.

(Hope your Mum is OK, Helen :( )

HelenMumsnet · 04/07/2012 19:42

@Hullygully

Hope your mum is ok Helen?

Thank you. She's not really. But thank you.

Hullygully · 04/07/2012 19:42

If the children are our future we're fucked.

hathorisaskingaquestion · 04/07/2012 19:42

Sorry to hear that Helen Sad

I've never had a stern email from you Helen.

Have you got a spare five minutes to give me a virtual tongue lashing?
