Why are some members of this site allowed to get away with persistently being vile, pushing an agenda, defending the indefensible, upsetting other members, twisting versions of events and generally being nasty, and they do not get banned?

Not about any one particular poster, but I have noticed that some stronger "personalities" on here seem to be Teflon coated.

Why is this?

Why do the owners of this site want that kind of vile poster and do not seem to care about the number of truly decent kind posters who are being upset and driven off the site?

Don't be so surprised Lem my lovechop! Underneath this vastly inept exterior lies a leeeeeeetle brain. No, honestly, it's true :o

Hullygully · 04/07/2012 19:45

Helen is trying to seduce Gandhi into a naked Disneyland trip

UnicornRainbowLove · 04/07/2012 19:46

You'll have to do better than that. Tsk.

hathorisaskingaquestion · 04/07/2012 19:47

Helen - I think one of the things that frustrates me is that if you report something you never hear what has happened behind the scenes, not just a one-off but when it's a sustained thing.

It's a bit like reporting if you've been burgled and caught the person in the act to the police and never ever finding out what happened to the person who did it, and not being allowed to find out

Hathori - Not sure about your specific reports, and how they were dealt with of course.

But I think a lot of bullying can take place within the guidelines, so we can't always look to MN moderation to come down hard.

The lesson I took from the past few days showdown debates on FWR were that if enough people stand up against bullying and malfeasance we can defeat it (as That Bastard Gandhi probably said at some point).

I really do hope we can have open-to-all-comers discussion over there. It really wasn't about radfems vs others at all in the end, I don't think.

I was was a bit harsh about MNHQ a some points, but I take it all back Thanks ....I guess they were acting on a bunch of reports from people who were unhappy but where nothing was being done that broke the guidelines. So they let it run to see if we could sort it out.

I hope we did.

I think its a shame the thread was pulled in the end though. I guess we'll just have to wait for Hully's play.

And there was me using 'debacle'. I feel about a hundred and nine.

oh that thread

Pinot · 04/07/2012 19:50

Maybe it was a mistake in starting the thread and HQ appreciated their error and helped them out? I didn't see any of it FWIW.

Tee2072 · 04/07/2012 19:50

Sorry I disappeared, like Olivia I had fifty filthy children to wash. Well, a filthy child. And I did think Olivia said fifty. Hmm

In any case, there does seem to be a double standard. And I think it has nothing to do with Royalty, which I think is BS and have been very vocal saying I think it's BS, or longevity of posters.

But there does seem to be several posters, some of whom I couldn't tell you their names because I have an auto-delete in my eyes when I see even part of their name, who seem to spew vile, awful, horrid posts constantly and get away with it. And, yes, I report. But I usually hide a thread after I report so I have no idea if that particular post was deleted but I do know I see them spew over and over again. So they are certainly not being banned or warned.

Also, for the record, I am another ardent feminist who will not go anywhere near the FWR boards, not even now they've been split. They need to be closed, IMHO and never re-opened.

But saying MNHQ is for Freedom of Speech is not true. If it was, there would be no rule about PAs, because, you know what? Sometimes calling a cunt a cunt is necessary in order to get them to pay attention to everything else you're saying and maybe, just maybe, changing the cunts mind.

Also, that's not what Freedom of Speech actually means, but I won't drag that soap box out here!

amillionyears · 04/07/2012 19:51

UnicornRainbowLove only started posting, using that name, yesterday.
Another MNHQ person?
That would explain "Ive never had a stern email form you Helen"

Himalaya - I hope so.

But they can't tell people what's going on behind the scenes, hath.

Look, imagine that you were on the other side of it and you had a terrible week and went a bit bit bad and kept fighting with people and getting deleted and being a twat. And then MN said right, that's IT you terrible poster - you are suspended for a week until you behave and then came on the board - or emailed everyone who had reported you and said "hath has been a right shit lately so we've suspended her arse"

Would you like that? Or would that just make you think "right, I'm going to be EVEN MORE OF A TWAT now"

They just can't tell us what's happening, accept it, report and hide the threads - or ignore the twats. I have several people on my ignore list.

Yes, we do understand that. And we know it is frustrating. We hope we do acknowledge that in our replies.

Thing is, quite often, a stern mail or a temporary ban is enough to make posters change their ways. And we do believe people deserve a chance to change

Telling people "XX has been banned/warned" etc, though, makes it unlikely they could come back and post again without incident - if that's what we decided to let them do.

UnicornRainbowLove · 04/07/2012 19:52

Oh do behave amillion. Have a search and you'll find out exactly who I am. Hmm

Jesus, the paranoia is ridiculous.

LeB0F · 04/07/2012 19:53

Have you got the horn, Unicorn?

amillionyears · 04/07/2012 19:53

And will point you to it if you ask them.
