Why are some members of this site allowed to get away with persistently being vile, pushing an agenda, defending the indefensible, upsetting other members, twisting versions of events and generally being nasty, and they do not get banned?

Not about any one particular poster, but I have noticed that some stronger "personalities" on here seem to be Teflon coated.

Why is this?

Why do the owners of this site want that kind of vile poster and do not seem to care about the number of truly decent kind posters who are being upset and driven off the site?

MNHQ are fully on board with my tomato play, by the way tragic, so don't start your copyright fretting again ffs

ShirleyKnot · 05/07/2012 10:18

I think we're going round in circles now, really.

If the poster isn't transgressing the rules then there's not a lot MNHQ can do about it TBH. The best thing to do is report, then HIDE THE THREAD.

There are a couple of posters on here that make me want to gnaw my arm off - and I know for a fact that people feel the same way about me - so I just ignore them and report if they go over the line.

This place is used by tens of thousands of people - we can't all get along with one another all the time - it's just not a practical thing to suggest!

Hullygully · 05/07/2012 10:18

A full time psychiatrist to watch threads!

genius idea.

You say that hath, but there was the furore when A prolific poster was banned for 'nothing'. I'm sure HQ are monitoring it. If they are breaking guidelines and don't shape up then there will be a banning over 'nothing' again.

It's cumulative.

usualsuspect · 05/07/2012 10:20

A full time psychiatrist would run screaming from MN

traffichalter · 05/07/2012 10:21

Yes, you are right, usual.

Hullygully · 05/07/2012 10:22

In my play Gandhi sleeps nekkid with the tomatoes but doesn't eat them. Then they all go to Disneyland to meet Ronnie Corbett.

babyheaves · 05/07/2012 10:22

I don't see that there are two sets of rules, to be honest.

I've been bollocked by MNHQ before for overstepping the mark. I have poster friends from the steps board who I know have been bollocked and you wouldn't recognise their names if I told you them. I also have poster friends whose names are probably known in Outer Mongolia, who I know have been bollocked by MNHQ.

This is why I believe they do their best to be fair. Maybe they don't always get right, but last time I checked normal people (apart from me natch) are not always right.

hathorisaskingaquestion · 05/07/2012 10:24

Shirley - if I do as you suggest and a group of posters are hounding me on here, I end up with nowhere to post.

Saying report and hide is giving the power to the bullies.

It's arse about face.

And can I just stamp on the psychologist / psychiatrist idea. I have had them up to HERE recently.

It would go something like this,

Psychologist:

"Hello poster A, I saw on that thread that you said blah blah blah"

"Yes I did"

"Can you tell me a little bit more about that?.....Hmmm?"

Psychiatrist:

"Poster A, we've noticed some concerning behaviours and have decided to up your meds again"

"Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

TuftyFinch · 05/07/2012 10:26

Ronnie Corbett won't go to Disneyland. He doesn't like waving.

traffichalter · 05/07/2012 10:26

Actually maybe what MNHQ need isn't a psychologist as such, but someone less qualified but who understands the mentality of a bully.

Hullygully · 05/07/2012 10:27

And he's too short for all the rides.

QuickLookBusy · 05/07/2012 10:28

Yes I agree Mnhq make mistakes.

Why else would they say a thread containing pages of examples of domestic abuse (and some funny ones) was light hearted??

Hullygully · 05/07/2012 10:28

He was horrid in RL. My dad once played a round of golf behind him all round a course and said he was a spiteful nasty sort of cove.

traffichalter · 05/07/2012 10:28

Precisely.

Hullygully · 05/07/2012 10:29

traffic - how would you assess that?

traffichalter · 05/07/2012 10:29

Precisely.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 05/07/2012 10:29

Mnhq INITIALLY thought that that thread was light hearted at first (and it was for the first page, usual's football story etc). They then took it down from their FB page when they were alerted to the fact it had taken a turn for the worse.

Mnhq do well I think, they can be slow off the mark but they are only human.

I do not want this to become a pay site. It would kill it stone dead and be a wankfest and will end up like the marie celeste within a year. It needs new blood to keep going (as long as they are plu JOKE)

So I post in a topic on here that interests me. (or anyone else)

I cross swords with a well-known poster from that topic - doesn't matter who it is or what the topic is.

I report and hide.

And report and hide.

Every time I post I end up getting attacked.

Whatever HQ do it doesn't work.

In the end I get driven out.

The bully wins.

Quite. He'd go to the zoo. You can't wave at zoos.
