It looks very nice.

For anyone on (apparently dinosaur) 1024 x 768 screen resolution, if you un-maximise your browser, then move it so it's hanging off the left side of the screen, then click on the edge of the window to stretch it, THEN you can just see about one pixel of the x to close it with

Thanks Bertie.

My laptop is 8 years old.

TurtlesAreRetroRight · 20/04/2011 15:38

I LOVE it when they change stuff. I find the hundreds of pages of 'wtf tech, stop it this instant' posts strangely reassuring.

I don't like change either. This is fine though, bar the limp, dangly fb/twitter thing which I've managed to hide anyway.

Indith · 20/04/2011 15:44

It is the big blocks of purple that get me. So very purple and dark.

RustyBear · 20/04/2011 15:52

I like purple.

Indith · 20/04/2011 15:54

I like purple but it keeps leaping out at me when I scroll over the menu. I think it just reminds me of teh days when I would be flicking between here and the university website, knowing full well I shouldn't be on here. University website was purple, I keep feeling as though I shouldn't be here!

usualsuspect · 20/04/2011 15:56

I don't mind the rest of the changes now I can get rid of the dangly thingy

Malvapoeding · 20/04/2011 15:58

The only problem I have wiith the drop down box is that I when I am working mn-ing I can hide the fact that I am MN-ing my scrolling down the page so it just looks like a random list on my screen from a distance but now it YELLS Mumsnet everytime I change pages. I can't hide anymore

SecretNutellaFix · 20/04/2011 15:58

I have thumb, and the bastard is still there when I scroll down.Sad

thumbbunny · 20/04/2011 16:01

oh dear Nutty - that's bloody annoying for you! :(

TurtlesAreRetroRight · 20/04/2011 16:01

Okay, so the dangle cannot be hidden. I've even restarted the computer. It's somewhere a shade beyond annoying.

Bit0fFunnyBunny · 20/04/2011 16:05

I'm on ipad and I'm completely missing the penis Sad

thumbbunny · 20/04/2011 16:06

Have just suggested on the other thread that people who can't get rid of it might like to advise the techy types of which version of MN/IE/hardware they are using so they can see if there is a common link.

BoF - you ain't missing much, be grateful. :)

Indith · 20/04/2011 16:08

My dangle has gone without a problem, I clicked on the cross and it has yet to return.

BehindLockNumberNine · 20/04/2011 16:08

I love the purple. But don't like the choices on the menu bar - they are not relevant to meeeeee. (yes I know the world does not revolve around me but still...)

The dangly thingy appeared again. Like an annoying pest. Have managed to hide it for now but am not holding my breath...

Indith · 20/04/2011 16:10

How odd! It appears when I'm on active convos but not when I'm on a thread.

BehindLockNumberNine · 20/04/2011 16:11

Limp dangler back on every thread I go into....
It is a wee bit beyond irritating.

May have to go out in the sunshine and read a book!

Indith · 20/04/2011 16:12

Argh! I think you have to banish it from every thread. I may be going mad. It went, it really did. Sometimes it tries to come back. It isn't here now

BehindLockNumberNine · 20/04/2011 16:12

thumbbunny - how would I know what I am using? (techno-ignoramus-in-the-extreme)

thumbbunny · 20/04/2011 16:16

mine hasn't come back at all.

Behind - um, try pressing F1 and it will tell you which version of Internet Explorer you are using, if you are. (Mine is IE8, for e.g.) Or you might have Firefox loaded instead - dunno how you'd know that, sure someone else will!

MN version - go into Customise at the top of the page and see which version matches what you normally see

Hardware - are you on iPad, Mac, laptop running Windows, laptop running some other operating system, Blackberry, or whatever other options there are for getting on the internet.

HTH

Which in non tech speak is: Google Chrome ver 10.0.648.204

thumbbunny · 20/04/2011 17:22

Jeez! Shock

nannynick · 20/04/2011 17:25

This Machine Info is a bit more user friendly.
What browser am I using?
You appear to be using Google Chrome 10.0.648.205.
What operating system am I using?
You appear to be using Windows Vista

Oh, Chrome just updated!

nannynick · 20/04/2011 17:27

Malvapoeding - I think you make a valid point. Some people do use Mumsnet whilst at work and don't want it being so obvious. So having a way of permanently hiding the drop down bar I feel would be good.
