Cup of tea anyone?

Last week we offered you the Wine emoticon but after cries for further beverages in the form of a nice cuppa tea, we are putting it to the vote. Please note that although we are using the word 'tea' the emoticon can be used as any hot beverage of your choosing (attempt to fend off enraged coffee/ Horlicks/ hot chocolate or Bovril drinks).

Please vote here . Voting closes at midnight on 10 Feb

p.s. Here endeth the beverage emoticons

[sulk] does the job just fine. It counjures up the right image where small yellow face couldn't really do the job.

thefirstMrsDeVere · 09/02/2011 22:10

(o) more like it (5 kids emoticon)

LadyPumpington · 09/02/2011 22:11

Ok I'll do it
( \Â¥/ ) how good is that?

thefirstMrsDeVere · 09/02/2011 22:19

Very good ladyp if a little scary.

LadyPumpington · 09/02/2011 22:19

Why is it scary?

PerArduaAdNauseum · 09/02/2011 23:34

[meh] to more emoticons. And also [arse] and [fucksake]

ChippingInSmellyCheeseFreak · 10/02/2011 00:40

I think the Wine Bear Biscuit are all sliding dreadfully close to the line where tickers and things live... I would rather have more 'facial expressions' than those, but if we are keeping those, then a [mug] would be OK.

ChippingInSmellyCheeseFreak · 10/02/2011 00:44

310/60

BitOfFun · 10/02/2011 00:52

Nay, nay and thrice nay. One in, one out.

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 10/02/2011 03:47

What BOF said.

Guacamole · 10/02/2011 04:52

You'll be asking us if we want a Gregg's sausage roll emoticon next...

thumbdabwitch · 10/02/2011 06:55

I should have checked before voting - is it going to be a cup of tea, or a mug? Because a mug would be more inclusive of coffee and hot chocolate etc.

I should have read this thread first as well to see if this has already been answered...

Lizzylou · 10/02/2011 07:12

I say no, I say no to the wine glass as well tbh.
(Though that could be because I am on week 2 of IPD diet where wine is not allowed and I am Envy)

Anyway, I far prefer coffee (decaff these days, bloody diet).

BitOfFun · 10/02/2011 08:32

Mumsnet is sleepwalking into disaster with the cup of tea, I tell you. It is a bridge too far.

EMOTICON BACKLASH NOW!

hobbgoblin · 10/02/2011 08:55

i hate the Wine one so vote against the tea too. only emoticon we need is a box of frogs - preferably animated so they can jump out of their box interestingly

TrillianAstra · 10/02/2011 08:56

I have a proposal

ONE novelty smiley. Either pombear or wineglass or cup of tea. Rotate them, have smiley of the month or something.

The biscuit and the bear sort of fitted in as they are yellow and roundish. The wine glass is not. It doesn't go.

All of the others have a meaning, they all say something. The wine glass does not. It doesn't go.

BitOfFun · 10/02/2011 09:05

Yes- I suggested guest smilies too. A sop to the invaders newbies, not more than the oldies can cope with before the sucking of teeth begins.

Blatherskite · 10/02/2011 09:20

Can't say I'm keen on the [tea]/[cup] idea but then I don't do hot beverages so I'd never use it.

I notice the Bear is now missing from the Smileys list too. Has it gone? I never really did quite get how it was supposed to be used.

[bicuit] I like. Not used Wine yet

Agree with MmLindt that we need [choc] that'd be more comforting than [tea]

I still say we need an [evil]grin emoticon. I quite regularly need one of those and evilGrin just doesn't quite convey it.

and NO TICKERS EVER please

Blatherskite · 10/02/2011 09:20

{biscuit] not [bicuit] Blush

Blatherskite · 10/02/2011 09:21

Lord! Biscuit

Brain not woken up this morning

squeaver · 10/02/2011 09:31

Totally agree with Trills and BoF.

Can someone give me an example of how we're supposed to us these beverage/food based ones? I really, really don't get it at all.

EricNorthmansMistress · 10/02/2011 09:31

the Bear was funny in response to a funny thread but has now had its day. It has become a MN 'in joke' which is now over. the Biscuit also I think. I like the new emoticons but I do think we should lose the old ones first, especially those which are MN jokes, like the pombear thread and the GB biscuit incident. Continuing with them makes us look a bit quichey TBH.

CuppaTeaJanice · 10/02/2011 09:39

LadyPumpington and MrsDevere - you're right, we do need a fanjo.......

...to go with the norks BiscuitBiscuit!!
