Looking forward to continuing the journey with all of you!!

Yep, it works now. How curious - I really wonder what this is about!

NellyCortado · 09/01/2023 17:00

@Trickleg - thanks for the update. Yes, the link is working for me too.
The questions seem quite generic, favourite subjects, interests, sports etc. I am pretty sure all that was covered in DS's interview. Strange.

Twickmum1 · 09/01/2023 17:03

Also received the KGS email. I imagine it might be to help tailor the content for the offer holders visit.

QuiteAJourney · 09/01/2023 17:04

@NellyCortado , as you say, it seems to be really similar in what was covered in the interview and what would have been been in any reference that they might have got from the current schools.

That is what I thought (and hope, as we really like the school!)

We got it too. No word from Emanuel here either. I'm expecting mid week.

secondaryquandries · 09/01/2023 17:19

We got it too. I think it must be going to everyone.

Twickmum1 · 09/01/2023 17:26

Yes I don’t suppose they’ve made any decisions yet. I’m sure the email will have gone to everyone.

Daydreamscometrue · 09/01/2023 17:28

Maybe they were supposed to send it before the interviews. It's covering what he was asked in his interview mainly.

It may be that and I am over thinking - can I ask people if they are putting much detail (eg music grades) in it?

OP posts:
Daydreamscometrue · 09/01/2023 18:02

@QuiteAJourney I didn't put a lot of detail in. We don't have music etc

QuiteAJourney · 09/01/2023 18:25

@Daydreamscometrue Thanks, we have just sent. DD very keen and proud to do it herself (with me hovering in the background). 😌

SleepyRooster · 09/01/2023 18:47

Anyone trying to forget about Tiffin Girls? DD did the stage 2 back in Nov, but left both papers unfinished due to insane lack of time. We don't know anyone else who sat it, so are totally in the dark as to general impressions/ whether to just forget about getting a place or not. Nothing on the 11+ forum either. Any feedback?

Taurus23 · 09/01/2023 18:50

How did people find the WHS creative assessment? My DD said there were two written paper components (English and Problem solving including interpreting a graph)

She seems to have made some careless mistakes as the questions were quite simple (when retold to me)

We’ve not been practicing any papers as we were done a while ago and basically gave DD a month’s break. Kicking ourselves a bit given how much work she has put in before this.

Hi all, I would also be curious about numbers being called back to G&L as I have heard a lot of positive news. Would be great if anyone had spoken to admission or if there is any family with a DD at G&L to understand how many have been called back this year.

@Lolakath19 good news from where? The same girls who cleared SPGS initial rounds and will clear the likes of LEH? Or good news from not very academic girls for whom G&L was a stretch school? G&L will do all its interviews in 1 day and there will be 2 teachers dedicated to each child. It’s also a normal school working day. I wonder how many girls can they accommodate?

QuiteAJourney · 09/01/2023 18:53

@Taurus23 DD did not finish the problem solving section and felt that the creative writing was quite rushed (only 20 minutes). Like you, we did not prepare - my DD's other exams finished before Christmas and we were under the impression that, like in previous years, it was going to be a creative writing with group dynamics, joint problem solving, etc.
The experience of round 1 and round 2 has actually pushed WHS down our list quite a lot, tbh.

OP posts:
Taurus23 · 09/01/2023 18:58

@QuiteAJourney yes feel the same here and just blaming myself for not getting her to do anything for a month! Other than practicing obscure interview questions and team working. Didn’t realise there would even be a creative writing part. I suppose this may favour girls who still have exams to go. It was our first choice however so a bit gutted. Oh well, better get practicing graphs etc for the other interviews! Or god knows what else!

QuiteAJourney · 09/01/2023 19:01

@Taurus23 I agree that it might favour girls still in the midst of exams and/or those that might have had an idea of the format.

As we are approaching the limit of 1000 messages in a thread, I have started a Part III, to continue the conversation - it can be found at

I wouldn't worry- I think most of the exams are over anyway and I also think they tweak the format every year precisely to avoid over 'tutoring' (in the broadest sense of the word' etc for it. They all know everything is discussed endlessly on mumsnet etc so will try and mix it up a bit! Emanuel, LU, KGS and WHS all made references to mumsnet in the open days we went to!

My DS found the same for the maths in the boys exam and found both papers incredibly difficult. Is it the same paper for boys and girls?

hi everyone, can anyone comment on topics are covered in Maths for Hampton in 13+ entry when applying in Yr 7? We've tried some 12 plus mock tests from Exampaper plus but they are quite complicated and way above Year 7 standards. I am aware Maths is very tricky but wonder how far complicated does it go? Thank you!

tennissquare · 23/11/2023 12:12

Did you ds sit the 11plus exam in year 6? A few sitting will have done that (and not got an offer) so are familiar with the format. I don't know about 12plus but the 11plus is tricky with the last few questions designed to pick out the candidates for a scholarship. Tell your ds to work steadily through the paper and not worry about the last few questions if you aren't chasing a scholarship.

QuiteAJourney · 23/11/2023 16:03

@june79 @tennissquare this is an old thread - there is a similar one for kids taking exams now (for 2024 rather than 2023 entry) which would get more relevant traffic.
